Oh yeah it sucks. Get the stock Google Jellybean keyboard from the play store. They finally released the official Google version. It's fantastic.

Those who have bought an HTC One get a $25 Google Play Credit:

I bought the phone out of the dates mentioned on the offer and still got the code yesterday via email.

DB,

Still having battery issues?

I think my issue was related to Wi-Fi at my work.

I always hooked up my phone to my office's AP (non-filtered access) but the signal is weak.

Now I just turn off Wi-Fi during the day and the battery performance is waaayyy better.

Yup, I hate this f'n battery w/ a passion, seriously. I've tried damn near everything I can think of, including turning off Wifi. Every evening I contemplate going back to the GS4 because of it. But I like the camera sooo much better, it's tough to go back. We'll see...will probably end up selling it and getting a Google Edition GS4 here soon. Who knows.

Well, I've still got the One and I figured out what the battery drain was, also related to Wifi. It's the High Performance Wifi on the 5ghz network in my office and in my house. Turned that off, and switched over to the 2.4ghz band and voila...instant battery improvement. I always wondered why I actually got better battery life on cellular than I was getting on Wifi and now it all makes sense.

Now instead of being below 50% on my way home from work, I'm at around 70% and I go to bed at around 35-40% instead of having to charge a bit at the end of the night. So yeah...now I'm stoked about the One. Now if only the real Google Edition images would show up so I can convert mine to stock Android. Can't wait.

Are you using the power saver on the One? I haven't yet, but think i'm going to experiment with it just for fun.

Even with it off, I can go to work and get a full day out of my phone, and that's in a building where i get crappy cell reception, which i find eats up battery life like a fat kid on a smartie factory.

Nope...and if I do use it, when I'm out all day, I really only turn down the processor speed.

For anyone looking at a new phone or tablet these days...wait about two weeks.

7/23 - the new Verizon Droid Lineup is announced
7/24 - the new Nexus 7 will be announced (likely)
8/1 - the Moto X will be announced

Just a little bit of Android over the next two weeks I guess.

Moto X kind of dashed expectations.

People were hoping that Google/Motorola would sell it for a price comparable to the Nexus 4 but it's a full-priced phone, costing $200 like other phones, though the S4 seems to be discounted here and there.

They haven't announced the Google Edition yet. If you remember the Nexus 4 via T-Mobile with a contract was the same 150-200 bucks when the google play store version was the same price. So there is still hope that google subsidizes the Play Store edition. It's possible.

I certainly am not in the majority who is less than impressed with the specs. Outside of the shitty screen the rest of it is perfectly capable. As I've mentioned before the spec wars are over. Anything made in the last two years will be perfectly fine to run any phone app you want. The S4 and the One are over spec'd for what you really need. The X will be just fine.

Plus I want an all black one w neon yellow accents. Lol.

Yeah. That would be nice eh. Already been out for a while on the international version and ships on the Mini so what the F is the hold up? Makes no sense.

Well I was sick of waiting for 4.2.2 to come to my HTC One so I said F it and I unlocked, rooted, and installed the Google Play Edition of 4.3. Ahhhhh...much better. I HATE manufacturer skins and now this thing is how it SHOULD be software wise. The hardware is still top notch (though I still hate the top power button) and now it's got the software to match. It takes about 15 min. Tops. Piece of cake.

XDA Developers. If you're going to mess with Roms, it's definitely the place to go. Here are the two links you'll need:

The All In One Toolkit (this unlocks, roots, and installs a custom recovery on your phone so you can flash roms to it)

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... ?t=2242635

The Google Play Edition Rom w/ 4.3 that you need to download and copy to your phones internal memory AFTER you have done all of the above All-In-One stuff:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... ?t=2341395

This should get you started. :)

Bahaha...Microsoft buys Nokia. Wait, didn't they already buy them? Since all Nokia makes is Windows phones these days. One of Google's VPs said it best..."two turkeys don't make an eagle."

I'm just happy that this is a commitment by MS to keep making Windows Phones. Still love my 920, and have no interest in switching OS's at all.
