You should have watched their 'performance' against Real last night - an utter disgrace apart from Valdes, Xavi (who stupidly got himself sent off), Puyol and Messi. None of the others seemed to give a s*** about their derby performance...and Eto'o and Deco deliberately got themselves booked unnecessarily last week to be suspended for this one.
Rijkaard could have done OK if he'd had full licence to clean out the deadbeats and those who are only there for the money, but he wasn't. Barcelona have been poor all season..Real have given them enough chances to get back into it, but none of them were taken.

Didn't matter in the end as Chelsea bottled it against Bolton. I like Ryan Giggs so it was nice to see him score, also nice to see Steve Bennett actually give Rooney a yellow card after the 5th time of being told to f@ck off to his face.
Well done Fulham! Glad they stayed up and Reading (and Birmingham) go down.
Also congratulations to Man City for picking up a red card, a yellow card and conceding 8 goals against Middlesborough. Hopefully they can take that form into Europe with Sven at the helm next season.
And, finally, Andrei Voronin scored and I celebrated when he did so.

That looks to me like a mutiny. Hard to imagine that City won't be a shambles next year.Jared wrote:Wow...what happened at Middlesborough? Was that mutiny against the owner? Or just a terrible performance?
And wow, Fulham! No away wins in 2 years....and then three in a row. USA! USA!
Fulham were quoted 50-1 odds by bookies 3 weeks ago against remaining in the Premiership - don't suppose any of us were prescient enough to plop down a tenner on that?
On a slightly off-topic note we started our over 35 league season Friday with a 1-1 draw. Good game for our team as we've turned to a 4-4-2 formation after playing with a 3-4-3 formation the past two years (thank god!).
Best wishes,
Doug

City will be fine next year, with Frank Rijkaard at the helm. Of our usual back 4, three are already out for the season and Dunne was sent off early doors, so nothing to play for anyway....Isaakson the keeper is also on his way, so no loss there.dougb wrote:That looks to me like a mutiny. For your relegation favourites next year, it will be Stoke, whichever of the teams goes through the playoffs and either Fulham or West Brom, though Bolton may also be in the mix as well.
And for those who go on about how much City spent this season, I'm sure that the owners of Tottenham (fluky League Cup win notwithstanding), Villa and Sunderland may consider what they have also achieved this season despite spending more. Oh yeah, and Liverpool, now firmly esconced in a little 4th place league of their own.

Didn't think anyone was going to bring up City's spending.davet010 wrote:And for those who go on about how much City spent this season, I'm sure that the owners of Tottenham (fluky League Cup win notwithstanding), Villa and Sunderland may consider what they have also achieved this season despite spending more. Tottenham's spending is on another level, their strike force cost practically the same amount as Liverpool's;
Darren Bent - 17 million vs Torres - 20 million
Berbatov - 11 million vs Kuyt - 9 million
Keane - 7 million vs. Crouch - 7 million
? vs. Voronin -free
And their defense...
Hutton - 10 million
Bale - 10 million
Woodgate - 8 million
Chimbonda - 5 million
By comparison, Liverpool's all time record transfer fee for a defender was spent this season on Martin Skrtel at 6.5 million. Hell they even spent 8 million quid on Younes Kaboul and yet no one talks about Tottenham being big spenders.

Gordon Banks stopped playing a long time ago. Peter Shilton has also stopped playing, after just over 1,000 senior games.
Also have to question whether Kahn really had the bottle for the big games - WC final 2002 and 'that marvelous night in Barcelona' being perhaps held up in evidence.
Plus, he is a complete arse of a person. With a blonde mullet.

Jan Tomaszewski - aka 'The Clown', as he was dubbed by Brian Clough.
I well remember watching that 1974 WC Qualifier, where a 1-1 draw at home to Poland saw England eliminated...they threw everything at Poland, but a breakaway goal early in the second half did for them.
Having been crap in the qualifiers, Poland then went on to finish third in the World Cup in Germany.
My first glimpse of real disappointment as a 7 year old football fan. Then I started following Man City, and learnt the meaning of lifelong disappointment.
I remember theorising to a fellow Blue that we were actually dead and in purgatory for our previous crimes, but after yesterday I feel that the only crimes that would merit a lifetime in Purgatory following City would have involved me making a starring appearance at Nuremberg.

Peter Shilton? C'mon, if you want to question Kahn being able to play in the big games, then we have to question Shilton in the 1988 Euros.davet010 wrote:Gordon Banks stopped playing a long time ago. Peter Shilton has also stopped playing, after just over 1,000 senior games.

Only problem Kahn had on the "night in Barcelona" was that the team forgot how to defend a fecking corner. At least Kahn go them through the PKs in 2001.davet010 wrote:Only problem he had at Euro 88 was that the rest of the team was shitefsquid wrote:Peter Shilton?
