Oh, nice move by Szetela, pulling an Arjen Robben and go down like a ton of bricks from that slap! If they played that on Sportscenter it would reinforce every negative American stereotype about soccer and set the game back ten years LOL.

He's obviously young and he's had a good tournament. But I don't want to see that garbage from anyone on a team that I support.

They played very poorly from start to finish, and being a USA fan for some time I have become used to our teams folding in these situations and being unable to make a come back. Not any more. This group is different and I still can hardly believe what happened. OK, so part of that may be the haze of drunkenness, but still! Pulling a victory out of nothing was just amazing.

I don't know what was going on after the match or what prompted the Uruguayans to go all Mexican, but that mo-fo tried to snap Michael's knee and that s*** ain't right. I love that Michael gave them the 'two to one, bitches' and loved even more that when Adu was trying to calm him down, he told Freddy 'shut the f*** up!' Get the arm band off of Freddy and give it to Michael! I do believe that day will come. But i was pretty proud of Freddy in the late going. He was really struggling out there, but was relentlessly trying to boost the spirits of the rest of the group and never seemed to give up. That's what he was going on about after the game, 'this team never gives up.' I am so proud of those boys. I fully expect them to come out flying, absolutely screaming, against Austria after this poor game and wake-up call. I was so drunk I almost got roped into going to Toronto. I'm still not safe! They may come by and throw me in the car! I told them 'if it was the final. . . .' Eesh. Too bad the semi is in Edmonton, because if we can get into that match, that is going be something.

Michael Lewis is reporting that Jozy wants to try to play on Saturday and that his ankle's not broken but that he was hit on an already injured calf. Thank goodness it's not broken. I thought Ferrari did well after a few minutes of jitters. He held the ball well and combined well especially with Rogers. Akpan showed well, too, I think. I mean, you gotta love the hair. You have to consider what they were facing (cheap-ass cynical dirty play) and how out of synch the whole team was. I think they will be fine up front, but of course I want Jozy over anyone. But not if he's hurt. Keep him out and hope there will be a next game.

The Beckhams are officially in Hollywood, while Zizou Zidane rejected an offer from Galaxy to join David.

The C. Tevez saga will be decided next week, will he finally become a ManU player?

WC under 20. Chile continues to impress me, they advanced today, and how about Spain. They turned their fortunes around late last night in an entertaining game beating Brazil in OT. The SA's didn't play their best in this WC but I saw some flashes of Alexandre Pato that would make any fan cry for joy.

Argentina-Mexico should be a close one over the weekend.

Unlucky - they were so poor that even Corradi scored.

2 new players in this week, more on the way.

Think Sky Sports gave that enough attention? Holy crap, you'd think Jesus was managing City.

Wow, what a smart game by Brazil. Not a great game but they brought their 'A' plan and played it to perfection. Based on players alone, Argentina was the clear favourite and what has transpired in the Copa thus far. But the yellow brought their 'A'game when it counted and their counter-attack just killed the Argentines. That early goal forced the Argentines to move forward and Brazil defended like as they were Italy.
In fact their gameplay today ressembled a lot from the Italians. Good D and opportunistic chances burned Argentina.

Copa America goes back to Brazil.

WC-20. The Argentine youth had better luck as they beat Mexico and they are now in the semis.

Perfect analysis...
Brazil's first goal was beautiful...An amazing 50-60 yd pass followed by a brilliant finish.
I excpected Argentina to win and win easily but Brazil would have none of that. They suffocated Argentina at every turn.

Irresistible combination -

City, the club who can snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory

Fans who've followed them through 30-odd years of garbage with 5 relegations

Sven

Mysterious new Thai owner with pots of money.

Roll on the season !

Sign Santa Cruz and keep him out of the Physio room and you'll be alright.

We already signed one of Serie A's top scorers, we don't need your castoffs (unless it's Roy Makaay).

Wouldn't mind Lahm or Rensing either. :D

WC-20 is wrapping up this Sunday with Argentina-Czech in the finals. Ironically these two teams were on the same group when the tournament began and they tie 0-0 in their first match. The ref just lost the game last night as Argentina beat Chile 3-0, and the cops had to get involved at the end of thre game.

So, now he's over the hill then. :D

Bayern look a good bet to win back the Bundesliga next year, made some great signings. Where are they getting their money from - Beckenbauer always seems to be moaning that they can't compete with the Chelsea's etc, but apart from selling Hargreaves have they got some new funding in ?

Didn't spend anything last season. 46 million Euros isn't that much! Was nice to see them whip Bremen on Saturday in the LigaPokal. Hopefully will do the same to Stuttgart in the semis on Wed.

Seriously, Oliver Kahn looks more like the villain from a Die Hard movie every time I see him :)
