Badgun sliders are your friend. Lower AI outfield speed to 40 and fielding aggression to 0. That should help you out with the CPU robbing you of homerunsBadgun wrote:I've really had a good time with this game so far. I pitched my first no-hitter in video game history yesterday with Mark Mulder, of all people. It was really cool how the announcers got into it. They started mentioning it after the 6th, and then again after the 7th. Then when I came into the 8th, they said I needed 6 more outs to be part of baseball history. Then in the 9th, they were talking about it after every pitch. Mulder was completely gassed and the little brackets on the pitching meter were moving so fast I just knew I was going to blow it. I just got lucky and hit the spots perfectly on the last two batters and got the no-hitter. Mulder actually had 0% stamina on the last two guys. After it was over, all the players came to the mound and hugged him and celebrated with him. All in all, it was one of my personal coolest moments in gaming.
That being said, I still await the arrival of The Show 07 on PS3 in mid April. The fielding in this game still feels a little quirky which causes me to miss or over run balls in the infield and outfield at times. I also hate the super outfielders that rob me of homers and balls in the gaps at least 2-3 times per game. I think the no-look over-the-shoulder catch on the warning track is more irritating than the guy climbing the wall 3 times per game. I don't know how they could improve the game so much and yet leave that crap in the game.
Still, I have really enjoyed the game.
Not sure if it's been mentioned as I haven't read this thread for a few pages now. However, dkrause (spelling ?) has a great set of rosters over at OS. Some with attribute edits and some without. he's put a lot of work into them and for it not even being opening day yet, he's kept them up to date very well.

Sorry if this has been posted already, but has anyone else been experiencing crashes with 2k7 on the 360? I'm about 20 games into my season and the damn game keeps crashing on me when I try to play a game against the Angels. I even tried simulating past that game, and then it crashed on the game after it against the Rangers. Sometimes it will let me play deep into the game then crash, then other times it will just crash while loading the game.
I've tried clearing my HDD cache on the Xbox, but it still crashes on me. I hope its not my 360 going bad on me, it has never given me any problems before (manufactured in 12/2005). I might try it without the hard drive next to see if that could be the problem...

Wow... tried playing All-Star defaults with human power at '0' (from 30) and then a requisite drop for CPU power by 30 and I still hit four home runs while the CPU couldn't hit anything out of the infield. I sort of hate this game for being so beautiful and yet so far from reality out of the box... I envy those with the patience and mental acuity to tweak successfully towards some ideal of realism and challenge, which I just cannot seem to do.
As for freezes, sometimes my copy doesn't make it past the 2K logo. Menu music starts, but there's just a never-ending black screen.

Mine does the same thing. It usually works fine if you don't try to button press to skip past those screens.Slumberland wrote:As for freezes, sometimes my copy doesn't make it past the 2K logo. Menu music starts, but there's just a never-ending black screen.
As for the homers...I'm starting to grow a little thin on the game. The CPU seems to only be able to get the huge inning. One inning throughout the game, they just go nuts...and there is not a damn thing I can do about it. I'm hitting way too many home runs...I've got 4 guys over .300 and 4 guys under .225. There just doesn't seem to be a middle ground in this game and that is starting to frustrate me. I'm not sure how much longer it's going to last. I'm about 40 games into my season, and I just can't see myself finishing at this point.

If your not getting anywhere near sim i think you need to try these sliders http://sliderleague.hqforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=214
i am having great games, i have tried zone pitching and i do think it helps, but with pay-off for me i try to hit corners and i do not always hit them so it seems to be working enough. I'll give up 1-3 walks per game, and if i try hard enough not to swing, swing, swing i can manage 1-2
i'd suggest starting with those sliders and then tweak to your likings.

I agree, once you find your sweet spot the game shines. While most of my games are fairly low scoring, I do occasionally have homer-fests, and they are against teams that you would expect. I even had a beanball-fest in my O's season against the Red Sox (they started it after I hit a home run). I ended up getting my manager tossed, my pitcher ejected, and after Wakefield nailed one of my guys he was clobbered in the head by a line drive and got a concussion from it! Just an ugly game by real baseball standards (and realistic occasionally, unfortunately), but a total blast to play.
The great game is in there, at least on the field (I haven't messed with franchise mode), you just have to dig for it.

Speaking of Bean Balls, I had a beanball-fest against the Rockies. 3 guys beaned overall, with both pitchers getting tossed.Gurantsu wrote:I even had a beanball-fest in my O's season against the Red Sox (they started it after I hit a home run). Funny thing is, the very NEXT game (still against the Rockies), my first guy up gets BEANED and the ump tossed out the Rockies pitcher instantly! I was laughing my ass off. The rest of the game played clean. Good stuff...

And if you use the swing stick, up your step timing to 100.dbdynsty25 wrote:If you switch to classic hitting, they happen all the time. I prefer classic anyway...I'm probably getting 10-15 per game...at least.greggsand wrote:Anyone getting many foul balls in this game?? I get 4 ot 5 TOTAL per game.
Still not what they should be, but it helps.

I've pretty muched shelved this until the rumored patch. I set CPU Contact to 100 and power to 60 and they barely hit the ball out of the infield, occasionally they hit a blopp single. Bump the power up to 65 and every hit they get is a HR.
It's typical 2K, they like to dazzle with graphics and presentation to cover up for gameplay short comings. I'm back to MVP07 on the pc and I'm considering getting a PS3 when the show comes out in May if it gets good word of mouth from here.
I really hope this rumored patch will fix some of this, but somehow I highly doubt it.

Am I missing something here or is there no way to make a mound visit? I can't figure out how to do it and it's not in the manual that I saw. I know you could last year and I know the cpu visits the mound all the time. What do I have to do to visit the mound?

I've had one crash - at the end of a game in GM mode where the screen froze before going to the postgame stats menu.
The slider system driving me nuts. Every so often I think I have it sorted out and get some good results. Despite saving them to my profile they seem to never load properly the next time I start up. It's getting very old very quick, particularly since it's a homerfest on the default sliders.
I saw someone's suggestion to load them and not save when you trigger through the various screens, but that's not working for me either. Any ideas?
