I'm playing as the Yanks and I haven't seen an overabundance of HR's. Ian Kennedy has been lit up a bunch of times, but the rest of my starters, don't give up too many long balls. Through 36 games, I have hit 10 with ARod and 8 each with Cano and Posada. Matsui and Giambi have around 4 or 5. Jeter hit 3 for me the first week of the season, but hasn't hit any since.

Last night I was playing against the Indians. I was down 5-3 in the bottom of the ninth. I loaded the bases on two walks and a single. Scored a run on my 3rd walk of the inning. A ground ball fielder's choice tied the game. Then I won it on a single by ARod. Good stuff!

One of the slider sets on OS has the outfield speed at 0, which "cures the quicksand" effect. I haven't tried it yet though.....

That wouuld be OUTFIELD REACTION SPEED at 0. Make sure you change the right slider.

Ahhh, yes, sorry. Do you have yours set to 0? How does it affect the ability for the OFers to get to the ball? I'd be worried you'd see tons of hits now, in cases you shouldn't.....

I have "outfielder speed" at 40 and "reaction speed" at 0. It does take care of the annoying animations. I haven't noticed any problem with too many hits for me. If you do however, just adjust the OUTFIELDER SPEED upwards.

I dont have many issues in the outfield, I really dont care if they moonwalk before catching the ball, as long as they catch it when they should.

Man, I think they need more tweaking of the bat-ball pyshics in this thing.

Yesterday, I had 3 HRs hit off me that in my not-so-expert opinon shouldn't have left the park. I have the power slider down 10 or 15 clicks from AS default....

I saw 2! 12-curves that were coming down on the black of the outer half of the plate pullled!!!! for home runs. Now, perhaps that's possible, but I would think in that situation it should result in a fly out to the opposite field!

Also, I had a change up, again on the outer half hit for a HR, to the opposite field at least. However, when I look at the replay, the bat was sliding under the ball in such a way it should be another fly out, because the contact didn't look square at ALL.

Ya ya, maybe I'm being nitpicky, but as has been said here before, I find at least half of the homers I give up are on pitches that should NOT be able to be hit out of the park.

The other thing that annoys me is I have had many games where the same player jacks 2 or 3 home runs. I think they've overdone the "in the groove" code a bit......

That being said, I'll still play, as the game is fun whenever it's not pissing me off.

Exactly what's turning me off of this game. I still think hit paths are pre-determined or something. Sometimes I feel like no matter what I do, it's going to be a HR at certains points in a game.

Well one thing that seemed to help me break that feeling was to lower my total control pitching slider. That way i can pitch a lot easier and rely on the break of the ball to determine the CPU's hit quality rather then my own gesture timing. Once your timing is off the CPU will crush the ball and to me that sucks!

I had a great ganme last night 14 innings and played very smart ball with one HR since lowering the totsl control, prior to that the past few games had combined for 6-8 each game (too many)

My CPU hitting- power is at 0 , contact at about 45% and skills @ 85-90%

I agree that the CPU sometimes hit HR's on balls thrown to spots that most likely would never result in a HR. It doesn't happen enough to ruin anything for me, but I agree it does happen. All in all though, the game is a huge improvement over last year's and lots of fun for me to play.

I popped MLB 2k7 back into the 360 and I will say, it looks incredible as far as graphics, lighting, etc.. compared to 2k8.

I'm really enjoying the variety in the types of games. I lost 2 of 3 to Detroit in a series where I didn't get more than 5 hits in any game. Then I headed to Tampa Bay and and smashed 13 runs on 14 hits in the opener.

I think I've mastered pitching in this game using good pitchers. I can strike out at least 5-7 batters now using pitcher's who's ratings are 90's and up.

Are people who are playing a franchise doing so with the option "AI wont' trade anyone rated over 80" on?

I left it off, and am at the all star Break, and I've seen wayyyyyyy too many stars moving. Just in the past llittle bit, Bedard was traded from the Mariners, and Hideku Matsui traded from the Yanks? And there are others that make me say "hmmmmmm......."

It's almost got me thinking of starting over when (if) a new roster update comes out and turning it on... (and turning off rain delays, since they do nothing at all except possibly cause you to replay a game....)

2kSports seems to have this issue with baseball and hockey.... I remember seeing Crosby and Ovechkin traded in NHL2kwhatever more then once too.....

Yes I have that feature turned on. To be honest, I haven't been monitoring the CPU trades among teams, but I'll take a look next time I play. I have been offered a couple of trades but have turned them down.

It does "look" a little better, but the gameplay of 2K8 is so much better to me. At least my outfielders aren't smashing into the wall anymore, turning doubles into inside the park HR's :)

I'm hoping it takes away the constant blockbuster trades too. The bad thing is, then you'll never get the occasional blockbuster that DOES happen......

I know I expect too much from the Franchises of console games, but a semblance of semi-reality would be nice...

Well there is the force trade option that you can have on. Im not sure if you can force trades between cpu teams, but you could always do a 3 way involving your team to mirror a big trade that happens in real life.

I turn cpu trades off completely since I'm able to manipulate to an extent all the trades that are happening in real life baseball.

I don't want to mimic the real world, I just want to stop (mostly) stupid trades...

PS: The May 9th roster is out as of a few days ago......

I did not want to create a new thread, so I will post it here. According to someone over at Operation Sports, 2K LA is no more. The studio closed at the end of the March.

Development of MLB 2K9 has been moved to Visual Concepts in the bay area. Some members of the 2K8 team, like Brinkman, have stayed behind to work in Southern Cal. Others have left Take2 entirely.

I'm not sure what this means for the franchise, but it could get messy for 360 baseball fans.

Maybe FatPitcher knows something?

I read Brinkman moved onto Activision to work on their LL baseball game. Not sure if that is 100 percent true though.

Rather have VC make the game. Maybe they can make it playable out of the box and not having to jump thru patches to get it playing right.

Brinkman's "LinkedIn" profile lists him as working at Activision, so that much is true. I hope Take2 doesn't let us twist in the wind until December. A release or sorts about "who" is working on 2K9 would certainly ease some minds - depending on who is actually working on it!
