Unless one of those moves involved getting 5 starters on the O-line it won't matter
And a TE who can catch.
I think it's impossible to really evaluate a coaching hire unless it's a coach who has some previous NFL HC experience, and even that is not really indicative of success. There were no clear standout candidates in this year's pool of potential HCs, so I like that Phil Emery did a lot of homework before making his mind up, and that he emphasized offense in his hiring. I think you're right, Dan, that now we have to see what he does to improve the personnel.
He either murdered two people or was complicit in a murder and walked.
I guess I never really knew the details of the incident and thought I remembered it as "wrong place, wrong time" kind of thing. I think he's a hell of a football player and that's all I really know. It's interesting how (as far as I can tell) the incident has not been brought up in the media after maybe a year later...
Grantland has a pretty fair summary of the events and subsequent legal activity.
My take has always been that there was far too little evidence for a murder conviction and even (for my money) too little for me to conclude he was any sort of murderer. OTOH, he was clearly involved in the brawl, lied like a rug and then ultimately snitched in exchange for a good plea deal.

Falcons, much like the first half against the Hawks last week look really sharp if not even better. Should they not panic in the second half I don't see how the 49'ers will turn it around.
Remember when the NFL used to be about hard hitting defense and the league pretty much created enough rules so that no one can play defense. A WR (unless he is Alshon Jefferies) can routinely push off DB's but if a DB makes contact he is flagged. You can't hit a WR or QB "too hard" or you get flagged. Apparently the rules for holding on the OL changed this year or else the whole league just got better.
Thanks to the NFL we now have college football being played. High scoring snooze fests, for those of us who like defense by the way.
I couldn't be less interested about the final four teams and who wins the Superbowl.
