If they've tweaked the difficulty, they've done it just enough so my previous sliders are over-effective, but not enough that I can go back to defaults. Awesome!

By the way, does anyone want to try out a super short league? As tournament-ish as I can get it. Real short. Painless. Short.

Well, I started the season 4-0 with a sweep over Colorado and a win over the Nationals. I thought maybe All-Star default is getting too easy for me.

Well, last night I went in to the game against Washington very confidently. After two innings, I was down 3-0. What the heck? I then put up 2 runs the following inning to cut the defecit to 1. I thought to myself I have the momentum and those first 3 runs were a fluke. I proceed to give to give 4 more runs over the next 7 innings. And my offense....well, it went to crap. I lose 7-2, and it was a well earned loss. I was outplayed and out executed.

I just can't get over the presentation in this game! I love how they comment on how a particular player did the previous game. Example: Ludwick had hit for the cylce the previous game. During last night's game, they say after he singled, "This guy just came off a 4-4 day, and he's not slowing down yet". Or if a player is struggling, you'll hear "He's 0 for 7 in this series. You can see he's pressing now". Then in the 9th, when I'm about to lose, the camera pans to LaRussa shaking his head in disappointment. There's an underlay showing how my 4 game winning streak is about to come to an end. How freakin' cool is that! It makes for the ineviteable a bit more realistic.

Had a 19-inning game at Wrigley against the Astros. I won 6-5 by basically wearing down Valverde because Houston had no one left in the pen. Both teams had multiple chances to win it but couldn't until I managed to knock in Soriano from second on a single up the middle.

I did see that the HR glitch is still not fixed. I hit a solo shot with Fukodome in the 6th, and after he crossed home, he was on first base. I've seen that happen twice now, although it's pretty rare. Not sure what triggers it.

Gameplay is pretty much like last year's version with newer animations and decent graphics. Not bad.

I'm not ready to spend $400 on a ps3, but ever since the slims came out, I've been wanting a psp. Just wanted to know if MLB 08 was worth it?

The slims do look cool, but I can't warrant purchasing another system, what with our PS3, Wii, and DS.

I jumped online with the game for the first time in awhile, and saw at the intro screen a vague description of what the patch updated. Also, SCEA will apparently have a developer online every day (I think) for an hour to address complaints, suggestions, etc. Gotta love the guys who make The Show. Talent + effort earns them a solid A in my book.

No s***.

Started a new season with the Mets and Johan got destroyed by the Phils.

Howard and Utley with 2 bombs. Plus my location was totally off.

I'm glad they worked on that, but I was settled on a nice set of sliders that was giving me great games.

Oh well, time to adjust.

Started the season 4-1, and now I'm 6-4. I've really been struggling to score runs. Last game, Piniero was crusing through 5, and in the 6th he gave up 6 runs. At the time I was leading the ball game 4-1. Ended up losing 7-4.

I bumped up power for both me and the CPU by one notch. This last game, I had two doubles and a homerun as my extra base hits. 9 hits total. The CPU had a couple triples (playing at San Fran), and two doubles. 8 total hits. This was really the first offensive explosion I've seen by myself and the computer. It was very nice to see.

I played it at Best Buy yesterday and my wife was amazed by the graphics on a handheld. I only played a few innings but thought it was a good game.

That seems to be one simple tweak on both the ps3 and psp versions of the game to make extra base hits and HR's better.

Yeah, I don't know if it was an abberation or the result of me bumping up my power and CPU's power one notch. Granted, it was the first time I had messed with the sliders since moving back to All-Star default. My two or three previous games were 2-0, 1-0, and 3-1, all in favor of the CPU. What I also noticed was there was a lot more deep fly balls hit by both myself and the CPU. It just seemed like the game opened up as compared to the last few games I played in my season.

Come to think of it, I also lowered pitch speed by three notches, and immediately starting making more solid contact. My previous games, I was striking out an average of 8 times. Yes, pretty dismal. And while I still K'd a few times after lowering pitch speed, I felt much more comfortable at the plate. My concern now is whether or not there will be too many hits. Can't answer that until I play a few more games against some quality teams. This last game was against the lowly now 2-8 Giants.

On a side note, thank you SCEA for in-game saves. I personally can't play two consecutive games in a row. But what I like to do is play a complete game, and then play 3 or 4 innings of my next game and save it midway. That way, when I start up the following day, if I don't feel like playing a whole game, I just finish the one I started. I think I've probably played an extra 4 games so far in season as a result of the in-game save. MLB 2K8 has this feature as well, does it not?

Yes 2k8 does.

I think I'll start on AS defaults when I pick up my psp today and go from there... but I do remember last year's game needed a few simple tweaks as well.

Nothing like 2k8 has needed so far though.. and I'm still not confident. :)

I LOVE this game on the PSP. Like it more than God of War, in fact. (God of War is great, btw...just kinda short) I'd be willing to play a few games online with anyone else who has it on PSP. Love it, love it, love it. I can see now why you guys gush so much about this game on PS3-it's the most well rounded game of baseball I've ever seen...

We spend more time playing rather than tweaking or talking about it. It's the best all-around baseball game ever made...and it isn't really even close.

So far, I'm having a blast with the psp verison on default AS. The framerate fix alone makes 08 seem much better than 07 did for me.

Match that up with a silver slim psp, and I don't think I'm going to have that problem where the bulkyness of the old psp bothered me.

So far the only thing that bothers me (and it's cosmetic) is that when you use any updated roster, the 2007 player stats get switched with other players on your team. For some reason, it doesn't do that with default rosters, but download the updated set and all looks well when you look at them, but play a game and they are switched around.. I thought it was odd when they showed Prince Fielder coming to bat and he had an average of .243 with 11 hrs... odd....

People have been seeing this in their seasons as well. Oh well, guess I'll live with that for updated rosters.. I'm also assuming it doesn't figure in to the player's performance.
