DSP Madden Online Franchise Season 2 thread

If either of you two clowns is up to doing another OF, let me know. Danimal and I have a little "side" OF going that's actually a blast. 100% Ask Madden playcalls, no audibles or hot routes. It makes the games incredibly bizarre. We had a game (he's the Bills, I'm the Bucs) that actually came down to a last-second FG after the defense Madden called for me gave him a huge TD bomb with under 1:30 left totally uncovered.
There's a lot of CPU games, and we play them as often as we can with no hard rule. It's not for everybody, as we're handcuffed on playcalls and formations, and we play quite a few games. But I know you two guys play a lot of games, too, so...
We just don't want more than 3 or 4 guys so we can blast through a few game weeks per real-time week.

Yeah I meant to tell you Terry I lost to the Saint but put up 21 points in like the final 3 minutes. i actually recovered an onside kick, a first for me in Madden.
But gosh dam the Bills are bad, only way i can win is too chuck it and hope that my passes are on target.

I saw that...was pretty shocked. I flipped it last night
Team speed for the Bucs is abysmal, but that's why I picked them. That bomb you uncorked on me was a big reminder of that. Hardly anybody on my Raiders squad has less than 90 speed for the wide receivers or secondary, and NOBODY on the Bucs has higher than 88 lol.

I'm in for as long as it goes. I preferred the old game schedule of the Sunday/ Thursday flip or whatever it was, as the set schedule was easy for me to get used to. I had to ask when we flipped on a lot of occasions this time.
However, I strongly feel we should dial the game time down to 10-minute quarters. My schedule is very volatile. 12-14 hours elapsed days are not unusual in my line of work, and I might start at 6am on a Monday, but on Friday start at 3pm and not be home until 6am Saturday morning. This particular show isn't really bad like that, but many are, and we only have a few weeks left here on Rescue Me.
I've said my piece, and although I appreciate what 12-minute quarters do for the game, to help me get my games played, 10-minute quarters would be my suggestion. Depending on how it goes, I might not be able to play all my v Human games, but I'd still like to stay in the league.

Nice write-up, Terry...but oh the pressure of being a 3-point favorite!!
I'm in for another season, but I'd love to see 10-minute quarters as well. And let's get another owner in here for the NFC North!!

I've been torn on returning for another season and the decision is adversely affected by the fact that I will be out of town for an extended period starting tomorrow night. We have family on the west coast that we will be visiting through April 9th.
I've enjoyed participating in the league however, while I'd like one more proverbial kick at the can, my own schedule has been pretty erratic, leading me to have a couple of late-season sims.
While I know I'll miss the tremendous effort you guys put into flavoring the league, it's probably a convenient stopping point for me. Hopefully, I can pick up with you guys when the next version drops.

I wasn't planning on reducing the quarter time so if that effects anyone's decision then let me know.
I was planning on moving the run off to 15 seconds that would speed it up a little.

15 seconds would actually slow it down, not speed it up. If guys pick plays quickly, then you have more snaps per game and a longer game. If you bumped it up to 25, that would speed the overall game speed up, but create a little more chaos pre-snap if guys try to do any hot-routes or anything. Offline I play with 25 second run off, but I know a lot of guys won't like that.
I don't think 25 sec. will affect it that much, since there's a floor (13 sec, I think).tmdba37 wrote:I prefer 12 minutes, although it would be sweet if in 11 that they allow set a time for human games and a shorter time against the CPU.
I certainly prefer the 15 second runoff. . .I mean right now it's nearly impossible to go in motion or call audibles without risking the delay of game call. . .
I'm also fine with leaving it at 12 min. Not a deal-breaker for me. The CPU games just get a little long.

Three point favorites!
Congratulations to Terry for his second straight AFC championship. Honestly, when I see the speed of his defenders, the yards he gets on the ground, and the picks he's able to make, it's like he's playing a different game from me. I'm okay, but I'm not beat-Terry-good.
In other words, I got this far because of a seam route to David Clowney. Terry let me get away with it ONCE.
Write-up forthcoming from Terry on what was a fairly painful hour for me, until I turned on NY's only rock station and my cat came to remind me he still loved me.

No McFadden, no problem--Raiders ground Jets for 2nd straight Super Bowl Berth

The (16-0) Oakland Raiders hosted the (16-0) New York Jets in the AFC Championship Game minus their top offensive playmaker, Darren McFadden. McFadden, third in the league in rushing yards, broke his wrist in the final quarter against the Denver Broncos the week before. The remaining trio of backs--Michael Bush, Justin Fargas, and Devin Moore--had to pick up the slack.
And did they ever.
Heading into the game, the story of the contest was the running attack of Oakland vs. the Jets rushing defense, the passing game of the Jets vs. the Raiders secondary, and the turnover battle.
Oakland running game: 44 carries, 225 yards, 4 TD's.
Jets passing game: 10 completions on 22 attempts, 142 yards, 1 TD, and 4 interceptions.
Turnover battle: 2 for Oakland, 4 for the Jets.
In every facet of the game, Oakland dominated.
The bruising Raider ground game piled up 44 carries for 225 yards and 4 TD's against the Jets, who possessed the league's #1 rushing defense in the 2010 season. Newly-crowned lead back Michael Bush carried 21 times for 102 yards and 2 scores, while backup Justin Fargas contributed 13 carries for 92 yards and 2 TD's of his own. Newbie Raider Devin Moore also carried 7 times for 30 yards in the game, but fumbled on what would be his final carry for the Raiders' second turnover of the day. Conversely, the Jets' meager ground attack came from 11 carries by Thomas Jones for 28 yards.
In the 2010 DSPFL season, Mark Sanchez-to-David Clowney was the #1 passing combination in the league. Oakland completely eliminated Clowney from the game until a late TD catch against a Cover 2 Zone avoided the 38-0 shutout and provided the final points. Clowney finished the day with 2 catches for 36 yards and the score. Sanchez actually threw three interceptions on the Jets' first three possessions, allowing Oakland to jump out to a 17-0 halftime lead, and New York never recovered.
In the end, the Raider backfield stepped up huge, and their defensive backs completely blanketed Gang Green from start to finish. The Jets managed just 163 yards of offense in the game, and 70 of it was on their final drive. It was a Cinderella season for a previously undefeated Jets squad, but the Raiders punched their ticket to Super Bowl XLV in Dallas against either the Cowboys or Bears next week.

I'm sorry, Slumber. I know that one had to be painful. Kris Jenkins was a shell of the player I remember facing in the last playoffs, and once I figured out I could get away from him and run wherever I liked, it was just a clobbering. I feel bad that this is the last game you'll play before leaving the league
Sure you don't want to stay for 2011? Pretty please...?

Aw, missing out on the draft last time on account of travel was bad enough, and now I'm out of the country for two weeks starting Saturday so I'd miss this whole off-season. I'll be back in the next edition, and maybe they'll let us use some custom sliders? The Bill Harris kind, perhaps? Just sewing the seeds...

Ben wants out of Pittsburgh
Can it get any worse for Steeler fans this week?
After a bitter lose to the Jets the team and it's fan received the worst news possible. Big Ben is going to test the Free agent waters. Roethlisbergr had no comment for reporters differing all questions to his agent.
While Ben is the biggest name on the Steeler list it isn't the only one. The Steelers had more players eligible for free agency then any team in the league. Besides Roethlisbergr Heath Miller is also filling.
On the defensive side of the ball LE Aaron Smith and MLB Lawerence Timmons also let the league office know they were invoking their right to get paid.
It's going to have to be a busy off season in the steel city.
