That's exactly it--matchups are a HUGE point in this game.

Most of the big plays I had in the game that was disconnected was when I'd find a LB on my WR running down the field, or discovering which LB couldn't shed the block and running a counter to pull him in--or a draw to do the same and then bounce it around him.

You're getting much better every game, and I look forward to the rivalry, Dan :)

Also, in our game last night, I saw you putting those tips in action. You were much tougher to get around when I thought I'd have you beat in that Buffalo/Tampa game. That "almost TD" that ended up as a FG damn near lost the game, and it's purely because of that TD-saving strafe tackle you made 1 on 1.

Funny how you can play 100 or 120 snaps and the entire game hinges on one or two plays made (or missed).

Thats the beauty and the truth of it. USUALLY(as there are exceptions) If you dont panic and you stick with your gameplan it will come down to those 2-3 plays.

Now the biggest problem ....Figuring out and executing instead of being executed on those two plays...

Steelers blow a 31-13 4th quarter lead and lose to the Jets 32-31.

After holding the Jets to a field goal on the opening drive of the game, Willie Parker would score on a 14 yard run to put the Steelers up 7-3 at the end of the first quarter. Second quarter saw the Jets go ahead on a 16 yard pass to David Clowney before Pittsburgh answered back with a 1 yard pass to Erik Pollard. The teams would trade field goals before the half ended with the Steelers up 17-13.

Pittsburgh scored the only td of the third quarter on a 1 yard run from Carey Davis. Willie Parker scored on a 49 yard run early in the 4th quarter but then the Jets began their comeback. The comeback started when Leon Washington returned the kickoff back 99 yards for a score:

A Willie Parker fumble would lead to the Jets scoring on a 9 yard pass to Jehuu Caulcrick. David Clowney would then score his 2nd td of the game with 35 seconds left to put the Jets up by one point:

Pittsburgh was unable to get within field goal range as Ben Roethlisberger went 0 for 4 on the final drive for the Steelers.

Willie Parker finished the game with 88 yards on 10 carries while LeRon James finished with 70 yards on 20 carries. Ben Roethlisberger finished 10 for 15 with 161 yards and 1 td. Thomas Jones ran for 64 yards on 16 carries for the Jets while David Clowney led them with 12 catches for 164 yards and 2 tds. Mark Sanchez finished 26 for 37 for 296 yards 3 tds and 1 int.

Great game Slumber, good luck against the Raiders.

Wild game, Vader. I had made my peace with losing somewhere in the third quarter, but that kick return changed everything.

Some other highlights... a 68-yard connection from Big Ben to Ward in the 3rd:

49-yard TD run by Willie Parker in the 4th (this is when I was sure it wasn't my night):

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/127. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

And the fumble that helped bring the Jets all the way back:

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/127. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Well played. Amazing running game.

The Chicago Bears used a bit of luck, an improved defense and a turnover-free offensive performance to exact their revenge with a 21-20 victory against the visiting Washington Redskins. The entire Bears organization was clearly resolved to overturning the hideous 44-9 Week 15 loss. The Bears made changes at every level: Personnel moves in the secondary and on the offensive line by the GM, a revamped gameplan by the coaching staff, and a commitment to making every play count by the players. In the end these changes paid off...narrowly.

The Bears won the toss and took the ball, knowing that every possession would count on a frigid day against quality opposition. Jay Cutler was efficient and Matt Forte led the team on a 5-minute drive capped off by a short Forte touchdown. The perfect start for the Monsters of the Midway.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/127. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Washington answered back with a long drive of their own. In a game this close, one never knows when the key plays will come. In retrospect, this drive turned on an enormously important moment. Jason Campbell tried to drill a short TD pass to D. Tucker, but Zack Bowman (newly inserted back into the starting lineup in lieu of Charles Tillman) made a brilliant recovery to knock the ball down. Washington had to settle for a FG, making the game 7-3, rather than the TD.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/127. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

The Redskins asserted themselves in the second half, twice forcing Bears' punts with the hosts just outside of FG range. Mike Sellers powered into the endzone for the 'skins first TD. Shortly before half a catastrophic miscue by the Bears secondary left rookie Clayton Roberson wide open for a 51-yd score. The visitors went into the half with a 17-7 lead.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/127. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

The Bears drew within a field goal with the only score of the 3rd quarter, a 15-yd strike from Cutler to Devin Hester. As the teams exchanged long drives, it appeared that the game was going to slip away from the Bears. With the Redskins looking to add a TD that might have sealed their win, Rookie of the Year candidate James Ruggs came up with his 3rd sack of the day. This play essentially forced the Redskins to settle for a FG...another key 4-point swing.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/127. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

This was to be the high-water mark for the visitors. Devin Hester returned the ensuing kickoff 100yds for a TD, going untouched the entire distance. The Redskins mounted a nice drive, but the game came down to a key 3rd and 5 with just over 4 minutes left. Campbell dropped back, but his pass across the middle for Chris Cooley was jumped by Danieal Manning, who knocked down the ball...and with it the last chance for the Redskins.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/127. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

The Bears would never give the ball back. Forte put the team on his back and Cutler threw for a couple key first downs to put the game away.

The stats were quite even, with the Redskins finding more success in the air but being utterly shut down on the ground. The Bears were able to sustain a balanced attack with 98 yards rushing and 140 yards passing. Both QB's were efficient, if unspectacular.

Great game, Zep. Typical close one where it could've gone either way. Hester is such a wildcard and he was absolutely the difference.

LOL at Alex Brown flying through the air and missing the sack.

What a great round of games. After a wild card round where every home team lost, the home teams go 4-0 in the divisional round. The championship games feature teams that went a combined 57-5.

I'm curious how a home team would be determined if two 16-0 teams met in the playoffs. Point differential?

I imagine they would use the sme tie breaks as they do to determine who gets into the tournament, so what is that, division record if in the same division, then common opponents, then Conference record, then I don't know.

For me the funny thing was Brown who is #96 flies by Campbell and then Rugg who is also #96 gets the sack. . .Virtual Campbell must be having nightmares about guys with that number. . .that would be a good gimmick to have. . .I thought you were blocking 96, but I did block 96. . .wait a minute, they're all 96. . .

Per the tie-breaker, I havve to imagine that Madden will go alphabetical and ignore any of the actual tie-breakers. . .it'll be interesting to see when Dan flips. . .

I did find the tiebreaker -- it's "strength of victory," which should go to Terry.

The dual-jersey number thing is really annoying -- I have two CBs wearing #21 which can be confusing.

I laid off the computer for two seasons...barring an 8-interception game or something absurd, I never wanted to go over 50 points.

But it's irrelevant. The way that the schedule is shown on the website, #1 seed was in slot A (top game) and #2 is in slot B (bottom game). Dallas is the clear #1 seed in the NFC and Chicago was #2, and they're top and bottom. Same with Jets and Raiders in the AFC.

Oakland will travel to NY in the Championship game.

Yeah, I know. I was kidding, but I don't like using smileys.

We'll be glad to have you! I don't know if you've heard, but while the Meadowlands lacks some modern amenities, it does have a certain charm.

Madden 11 really needs to get audio of drunken Teamsters yelling for female Jets fans to show their tits. If it's in the game....

PLEASE READ

We have 3 games left to the season. Before i go about doing the work for the FA Signing week and Jared makes us a nice new forum i want to be sure we have enough for a league.

I know Slumber is out, the Panthers owner has left us again. Badgun is on the fence. No one else has said they weren't coming back, but the league rumor mill is making me think we might have more people drop.

I really need a head count for season 3 before I waste Jared's or my time.

So please if you can post if you're in for season 3, which will more then likely be our last before Madden 11 unless we up the speed of game played.

Thank you

In unless the speed slows down. 5 days is already a lot with a lot of CPU games to be played. I'd prefer something like 3 days with a hard sim rule. The fewer guys there are, the less reason there is to string out a long schedule.

Definitely in and would be fine if we sped the clock up a bit. . .perhaps we think about going week to week. . .it certainly should be easier to manage with less people. . .
