Ha. I think I went into that game with Carolina playing a little lax because it's the CPU. But I made quite a few stupid mistakes in that game, and had to abandon my gameplan because of it. Furthermore, the CPU had a great game.TCrouch wrote:Bullsh*t. The CPU gets smacked around like a redheaded stepchild.
Yeah I can talk all the smack I want, but I've had some close shaves against the CPU, especially with the Lions in my Bottom 8 league. But with the Raiders I can generally put a CPU team away by the 3rd quarter.
Those pesky Lions, though...just getting them to 13-3 was something I'm more proud of than 13-0 in the OS league with Oakland lol

Baltimore defeats Pittsburgh 34-17 to stay at the top of the AFC North division pending the outcome of the Browns/Bengals game this week. The Ravens went into halftime with a 21-3 lead with strong running from Willis McGahee who ended up player of the game rushing for 126 yards and 3 tds on 23 attempts. Pittsburghs only highlights of the game were in the second half, a 90 yard kickoff return for a td from Santonio Holmes and an int return from Ike Taylor.

Joe Flacco finished 10 for 13 with 155 yards 0 tds and 1 int while Ben Roethlisberger finished 8 for 15 with 92 yards 0 tds and 2 ints. The Steelers will host the Raiders next week while the Ravens travel to Green Bay.
Good game Scoop, looking forward to the rematch in a few weeks.

Giants would find the end zone twice in the third quarter for the only scores in the second half and hang on to win 21-20 over the Broncos.
I'll refrain from too much description and concede that I got a bit lucky on some plays that contributed to the win.
A couple of the game clips of some of the plays that led to the result.
Brandon Jacobs TD reception:

Eli runs out of the pocket on play action and finds Smith in coverage for the TD.

While not a scoring play, a desperation heave by Eli, pinned deep in his own zone.

Lastly, with a minute to go, Orton would be marked short on a QB keeper on 4th and 1.

Titans pluck the Cardinals
In the late Friday Night Action, the Titans beat a game yet newly soulless Arizona Cardinals team 24-7. . .
The CPU Cards moved the ball well through the air with 200+ yards passing, but the Titans Defense came up big with three key Interceptions. . .two in the RedZone. . .
The Titans Offense was once again powered by Chris Johnson who had 156 yards rushing on 15 carries and caught the back-breaking 24 Yard TD Reception in the 4th Quarter. . .
Kerry Collins had his best game of the year going 12-13 for 151 Yards with the TD and no INTs. . .
The Titans travel to Indy with revenge in mind to face the Colts while the Cards host the Vikings. . .

Lets get something straight I didn't say I was quitting I said I was considering letting someone else run it for a bit. There has been a lot of crap I had to deal with and that's all that needs to be said.GameSeven wrote:I've exchanged PMs with Danimal and I've come to the conclusion that I am quitting the league.
Whether or not this has any bearing on his decision to stay with the league or not is up to him.
Good luck the rest of the way to the rest of you guys.

This is your decision to leave, I didn't ask you to leave, I didn't warn you. In fact I said you've played a ton of guys without a single complaint, you're a good owner. I wished you luck and told you to enjoy the league.
While I would of preferred to keep this private. You PMed me after the game,, I answered you honestly. I wouldn't of even said anything if you hadn't sent me a message. Apparently you didn't like my response and now you're leaving.
I'd wish you would stay but that's your choice.

My sincere apologies for misinterpreting the context of your brief message about a change in leadership and your PM in light of last night. Let me make it clear to everyone that Dan did not pressure or suggest to me to leave. If I have any issue with the way our exchange went, I will deal with it through PM.Danimal wrote:Lets get something straight I didn't say I was quitting I said I was considering letting someone else run it for a bit. Redskins 22 - Eagles 21
It was an NFC East classic for the ages on a crystal clear, 34º day in Philadelphia as the Redskins came from behind with a long drive at the end of the game to hit a 43 yard FG at the gun and win 22 to 21 and improve to 7-4, giving their slim playoff hopes new life. (This is a huge post, but hey, it's me; and I just can't believe how great this game was!)
This 154th meeting between the two teams saw a complete turnaround from their last meeting, which was a fierce defensive battle. Neither team punted throughout the entire ball game. The only times either offense failed to produce points were the two interceptions thrown by Donovan McNabb, the second one on an ill-advised throw over the middle inside the two minute warning on the Redskins' 26 yard line with the score 21-19, Eagles.
The game started with Philadelphia marching down the field with ease, capped off by an empty backfield QB draw by Michael Vick from a few yards out. (The game's recap says a 30 yard run, but I think it was more like 3. Weird, but not unusual with the horribly inaccurate stats this game tends to keep.)
Washington returned the favor, thanks to a huge, 54 yard run to the Eagles two yard line. Betts pounded it in a few plays later behind a Rock Cartwright block as the Redskins starters took a breather on the sidelines.
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
Clinton Portis's first run of the game was a massive 54 yard scamper to set up a short touchdown plunge by Betts.
Deshawn Jackson took the ensuing kickoff 100 yards for the TD to make the score 14-7 in favor of the home side.
On the kickoff, Randle El was hit hard and fumbled the ball. The Eagles could have changed the game completely and had ample chances to pick up the loose pumpkin, but somehow Mike Sellers saved the day and recovered the ball.
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
Mike Sellers makes a key fumble recovery that may well have had the largest impact of any play in this game.
Then the spirit of Joe Gibbs and his ball control philosophy returned to the burgundy and gold. Jason Campbell led the team on a seven minute, thirty four second drive all the way to the Eagles two yard line before their momentum petered out and they had to settle for a short Sean Suisham field goal, making the score 14-10.
The Eagles offense, surely frozen by now on the sidelines, then took control of the ball and marched down like a hot knife through butter, finishing off another well balanced drive with another 3 yard TD run from Michael Vick. This time he looked to throw, and Orakpo got lost on his spy assignment, before the Virginia Tech product scampered in for the score.
As time expired in the first half, the Redskins tried an ill advised 55 yard FG, which thankfully the Eagles were unprepared for; otherwise the return would surely have resulted in a TD. Questions remain as to whether Mikell stepped out of the back of the endzone, but Chris Cooley saved a sure TD and so the teams went into the warmth of the locker rooms with the score 21-10 in favor of Philadelphia.
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
Did Mikell step out of bounds? Chris Cooley made sure it didn't matter, but the Skins were thankful it wasn't Assante Samuel returning the short FG attempt.
In the second half, the Redskins maintained their Gibbs-style ball control and remarkably were able to shut out the Philadelphia offense, despite there still being no punts by either team. The half started with another long drive orchestrated by a confident Jason Campbell, but again the Redskins had to settle for a FG from Suisham, this one from 46 yards.
On the next possession, the Eagles began to crack for the first time, as Donovan McNabb threw an interception to London Fletcher.
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
London Fletcher, who has never been to a Pro Bowl in his 12 year career, intercepts McNabb for the first turnover of the game.
The Redskins took the ball and faced with a 4th and goal from the 2, behind 21-13 with 4:20 remaining in the game, opted to go for the TD. Big FB Mike Sellers hammered his way across the line for the score. The two point conversion failed, however, so the score remained 21-19, Eagles.
Philadelphia knew that all they had to do was eat up the clock and keep the ball. After a McNabb sack on the first play, DC native Brian Westbrook caught a huge 21 yard pass. The Eagles moved the ball into Redskins territory as the two minute warning came. After an 8 yard run by Westbrook, only his second carry of the game, brought the ball to the Redskins 26, Reid and McNabb tried to throw on 2nd down, and it nearly cost them as Rocky MacIntosh dropped an easy interception. But on the next play, 3rd and 2, McNabb threw again, and this time DeAngelo Hall grabbed the interception and hung on to the ball.
And so it came down to Jason Campbell, with two time outs on his own 29 yard line needing only a field goal to steal the win. After and 3rd down pass was dropped by Reggie Williams, Chris Cooley came down with a key first down catch on 4th and 4 to keep the drive going. With the ball on the Eagles 40 yard line, two incomplete passes resulted in 3rd and ten with 0:26 left on the clock. The Eagles, channelling Belichek, rushed only two and dropped nine into coverage. Campbell surveyed the field, and fired a poor throw towards Moss who was well covered, but because the ball was high, Moss was able to leap above his defender and grab the pass to get the Skins in field goal range at the Eagles 26.
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
Santana Moss makes a leaping grab on an errant Campbell throw.
The Redskins used their final time out with 0:03 remaining, and Sean Suisham hit the ball straight down the middle as time expired to win the game for the visiting Redskins.
The Redskins and Eagles are now tied with the Giants for 2nd place in the brutally tough NFC East at 7-4, with the Cowboys sitting atop the Division at 8-3. Washington heads home to face the now CPU Saints, while Philadelphia travels to Atlanta to play the NFC South leading Falcons.
An unbelievably good game, by far the best game I've been a part of so far in this version of Madden, despite the seeming lack of defense. The fact it was in this league with division and playoff ramifications made it that much better and so much more fun. It was a very difficult loss for eman to take, as he could have run out the clock, forced me to use my time outs, and kicked a FG leaving me with less than a minute and in need of a TD. But the Skins got revenge for their tough loss at home to the Eagles earlier in the season, and with five games to go anything can happen in the wild NFC playoff race.

How fortunes change...
The once 7-0 Philadelphia Eagles blow another two score lead in the second half against the never-say-die Washington Redskins Sunday. Many NFL pundits had the Eagles ranked as high as #2 in the league earlier in the season, so it comes as a surprise to many that they have fallen so quickly.
"I remember dropping 50 pts on the Chiefs earlier in the year and thought, hey, this DSP Official stuff is easy" said a shaken Donovan McNabb after the game. "I had little faith in my defense which is why I called for the pass on the last drive" said Andy Reid. All the credit goes to coach Zep - that final drive was a thing of beauty and totally clutch. The Redskins won't go away and are right back into the middle of things in the NFC East. "We went back to Joe Gibbs style football!" said and exuberant coach Zeppo at the games conclusion. The Redskins TOP was tremendous owning a nearly 4 to 1 edge.
The Eagles still control their destiny, but almost need to win out to make the playoffs. "We still have games with Gamese7en (Giants) and BHoward (Cowboys)" so it's not over said Brian Westbrook. The margin of error for the Eagles is almost nil as the competitive NFC East rivals beat up on each other.
Despite 4 straight losses some Eagles still have an usual swagger heading into the game with the NFC South leading Atlanta Falcons. "They aint played nobody" said a defiant Asante Samuel. Coach Reid wasnt happy with his star DB providing bulletin board material for the Falcons and took offense to the comments. “They’ve beaten a couple teams that have beaten us.” Alluding to Atlanta wins over Chicago (RobVarek) and the NFC East's own Dallas Cowboys (BHoward).
