Sounds like it could be tonight, or at least tomorrow:

Whole lotta updates too. And supposedly the offensive players have better pursuit ratings to help cut down on interceptions returned for a TD.

I actually had an unnecessary roughness penalty called on me. On a kick return, the CPU returner went out of bounds, and I happened to use the hit stick on him after he was out of bounds. The penalty notice came on and I got flagged for the hit. Pretty cool.

I unfortunately have also seen a bug. Late in the fourth quarter of my Bears franchise, both Matt Forte and Devin Hester disappeared from the game. They weren't injured, and they were listed on the depth chart, but they would not return to the game. This has happened twice now, both times when I've been ahead late. Has anyone else seen this?

Sounds like you unlocked the Scottie Pippen easter egg.

I see that sometimes, too. Usually, it's when it's a blow-out and around 2 mins left. It seems like the CPU decides to bench your starters because the CPU is thinking the game is in garbage time. But yeah, I'll get up to the line & all of sudden Boldin, Fitz and Breaston are nowhere to be seen. I've used the RB to swap out people on the fly in play calling. There might be a preference for that somewhere but I haven't bothered to look for it yet.

I saw that in an overtime game. it was my d-linemen so I thought it was fatigue.

Ha, nice one, Scoop.

It seems like it might be tied to fatigue and having the lead late in the game, like your guy gets subbed. I'm going to e-mail EA support about it because it's annoying.

I'm pretty sure it is related to fatigue. Have you changed the sub out/sub in settings? I was trying to get my backup rb more carries, so I raised the sub out/in to 90/95 at one point. The next couple of games, my starter would only play the first half, my backup the 3rd quarter, and my 3rd string the 4th quarter. These were close games all the way too, not blowouts. Like you said, all the rbs were still on the depth chart, but they just disappeared from the game. I was thinking that at a certain point players lose energy that they can't ever recover. As soon as I switched back to default settings, the problem disappeared.

That's what I'm not sure of, Hip. I did change the fatigue defaults in my profile. But I also noticed there was an autosub setting page in the franchise as well, and I had not adjusted that. So I'm not sure what the game was using.

So I started playing with the "Player Min Speed Threshold" slider (everything else is still on All-Pro), and what a difference it makes. Moving it down to 30, makes the game so much more realistic. I found too many FAT lineman intercepting a ball & running it 60+ yards back to the house while guys like Larry Fitzgerald couldn't catch-up to them. Made me crazy. Anyway, pulling it down to 30 (default is 50 on all pro), makes all the difference in the world. It's nice seeing a subtle difference between WR & backs as well.

Greg, did that help with WR separation too?

Hmm, not yet, but I've only had it cranked down for 2 games. You do see speed differences though, so i'd think "right play/right time" you might see better separation.

The fatigue bug is starting to get on my nerves. Third quarter of my franchise game against the Lions, Forte and Hester disappeared again, this time when I was behind. Danieal Manning also dropped out in the fourth. I have been using adjustments to the fatigue level and the autosubs, so I put them back to default in the hope of fixing this.

I read on OS, that if you mess with these sliders it will really screw up subbing.

Honestly i've been playing Madden with default everything and have been having a lot of fun with it. I'm not into nitpicking it or over analyzing the game because it would show it's warts and all. At face value it's a fun game this year, comeback AI and all. ;)

Had a thriller of the NFC championship game, Bears at Eagles in the cold and snow and 22 mph winds. It was rough hitting game and the Eagles gort the ball with 2:12 left and proceeded to drive to my 23 yard line. They let the clock tick down and for some unknown reason tried to get me to jump offisde resulting in a false start.

They still have enough time to try the kick after the penalty and I block it, a real good block to the corner guy laid out and blocked it.

I win the toss in overtime and run a bubble screen to Hester as they send a corner blitz and I take it all the way, game over. I was really sweating there, thought I'd lost my chance for the Superbowl. Now I have the Steelers tomorrow night for it all.

It's tomorrow in Australia so it kind of does. Our 5pm is there 8am tomorrow. I wouldn't expect to see the patch here until tomorrow.

Forgot to add that apparently somehow the PS3 patch for the Aussies has the AFL stuff by accident.

Per Phil @ EA:

An update.

Expect both patches to be released in the US tomorrow (Thursday, 9/24). I don't want to be specific with the time becasue that will just cause more frustration if it's not out at that time but I'm confident all will get the update by tomorrow evening at the latest. Why did UK and Australia get the update first? No idea. Sony flipped that switch. It wasn't at the request of EA. Ideally everyone gets the update at the same time.

Anyone know whether those of us who have a UK PS3 account can put in the game and get the patch that way?

Nope, doesn't work according to those at OS.
