Yeah - that ending seems a tad unrealistic, but obviously we need to see how it plays out before ultimately passing judgement. Another amazing episode though. Walts panic when on the phone and driving to the $ spot was incredible.

I think Uncle Jack and his crew just outed themselves as long time enemies of these guys...RallyMonkey wrote:..how, with higher ground, automatics, and clear shots, could they have missed.?!?

LOL. Hilarious.webdanzer wrote:I think Uncle Jack and his crew just outed themselves as long time enemies of these guys...
And yeah...I'm with you guys...how the hell do they miss? But then again, did you see Todd shooting? That was the comic relief for that episode for sure. Just a little ridiculous, and also ridiculous how Walt hasn't been hit, given the amount of times the SUV was shredded with bullets. But then again, we don't know that for sure, they just want you to think that.
Re: The really great TV thread
Saw someone posted this on another forum this morning as a reason as to why no one was shot yet in the ending scene:

Ok, one last point for me, regarding the firefight. Starting from left to right, once the two cars pull up and the 6 people totaling Jacks crew, I can see how they don't get shot to pieces right away.
The dude on the far left has an AA-12, fully auto shotgun will not hit **** from that range.
The guy driving that car whips out some sort of assault rifle, looks like an M16 or something similar. Good gun for this situation, bad angle though as he being mostly on the right, has the SUV blocking some of his view of the two.
Todd has a pistol and is not firing at children, clearly not killing anybody here.
Jack has a pistol, and didn't get lucky with his first couple shots, rate of success significantly dropped after that.
The two dudes on the right have the best chance of killing Hank/Gomez, however the one on the far right has what looks like some type of light machine gun (basically very similar to the M60 that future Walter has) which he is stabilizing on the angled part of a car door. These guns have absurd kick even compared to the average firearm, his accuracy here will be horrible and likely nothing more than suppression fire.
The guy who is standing on the seat above the truck who comes out the rear passenger side has the best chance of hitting these guys. He has what looks like an M16 or some similar variation, and he has the best angle, his biggest problem though? Just like everybody else, he's using a ****ty iron sight and unless he's got a very sharp shot, it will be tough even for him at that range to kill instantly.
So yeah, imo what happened isn't really show breaking unrealistic.

Dammit, of course! I can't believe I missed all that!

Re: The really great TV thread
Yeah but uncle's crew took out Declan's crew, who presumably had auto rifles and such, in a few minutes.
The surprising thing is that the uncle figured out how to use the GPS coordinates.

I thought Walt's cell phone would lose coverage, then he would realize Jessie couldn't possibly be calling from the spot.Spooky wrote:wco81 wrote: The surprising thing is that the uncle figured out how to use the GPS coordinates.

Either way, we know Walt is not in prison in the future and appears to be on the run, so when Walt is in the van and Hank says his tender "I love you" to Marie, I figured Hank was a goner.

Re: The really great TV thread
BTW, this episode could be an inflection point on the debate about whether Walt is irredeemable.
Gilligan has been hinting that he is and that the next episode will provide a high-level overview over all his actions.
But it would have been so easy for him to just let the uncle take out Jesse and Hank. As soon as he saw who showed up, he tried to call it off. Even though Hank is after him, he doesn't want him killed and the hit on Jesse was the very last resort.
He did state his case, that he saved Jesse's life, that he had no case but to get Jesse on his side, even if he had to poison Brock.
It is a difficult question but a lot of viewers probably don't want to see Walt get killed or arrested, just as they probably rooted for Tony Soprano, who prospered on the misery of others (there was a montage of Tony and his cronies having a party at his home while all the small business owners that they preyed on were toiling to pay for Tony's lifestyle).

Re: The really great TV thread
One thing that really threw me off was Jesse on the phone with Walt as he was going to the money spot in the desert. The sound was really weird...almost like Jesse was a recording. It was just poorly done IMO and it just stuck out. The only way I knew it wasn't a recording is because Jesse starting answering Walt's questions and responding correctly. That really was my only complaint of the episode.
Oh, and I wished Todd would have at least tried to slide his hand up Lydia's dress or something. Make a move sissy!

I noticed that as well. Bad sound editing.dbdynsty25 wrote:One thing that really threw me off was Jesse on the phone with Walt as he was going to the money spot in the desert. It did sound weird. Maybe they meant it to sound differently because Hank was recording the call and a knowing audience would notice it, but Walt wouldn't because he was panicked.

True. But the cinematography was a rare slip for Gilligan. It was perhaps the only car scene in the history of "Breaking Bad" that didn't appear to be filmed in a car at speed. The scenery in the back window looked like one of those old movies, with film running the background.Spooky wrote:Yeah - that ending seems a tad unrealistic, but obviously we need to see how it plays out before ultimately passing judgement. Something makes me think the obvious -- Hank and Gomie getting perforated with hot lead -- won't happen next Sunday. Can't wait to find out.

Yep, I read online today that a bunch of actors killed off in this show appear in next week's episode. Flashback time!

I too thought Jesse sounded weird but i think it was to say it was being acted out and not a natural conversation, very well done and detailed until the fire fight yes, who was shooting at the headlight lol that must have been Todd

Re: The really great TV thread
Nothing in this show is wasted. If the audio sounds "weird", prob a reason why. Also, all this talk of "missing" in the firefight: the way the scene played out - it's impossible to tell (barring a head shot). Wouldn't surprise me at all if the shootout comes to a hault and both hank & Gomez are tagged. Hank can't just get shot in the face. They need the hank & Walt final goodbye scene (where Walt apologizes while tells him to f'off while coughing blood). Great show.pk500 wrote:True. But the cinematography was a rare slip for Gilligan. Turns out the Better Call Saul is actually going to happen. Of course they are saying it's a prequel, so they can still kill off Saul in the final three episodes if need be. We'll see what happens I guess.

I'd been eagerly awaiting Ricky Gervais's new "sitcom" 'Derek', whose seven episodes are now available on Netflix, and it does not disappoint. It's a show with heart and laughs, often leaning more heavily on the former, and is carried by some expert performances from Ricky's ensemble of friends in UK comedy.

Re: The really great TV thread
What a disturbing and heartbreaking episode.....after tonight, I'm hoping Walt sees down the barrel of a shot gun.
Was the flash back scene a real flash back from an earlier episode?
Also, did anyone notice credits playing about 20 minutes in to the show? It was when Hank was rolling the barrel of money. It was a little distracting and I thought it was the end of an episode. Strange.

Re: The really great TV thread
I thought it was maybe the most sympathetic Walt has looked all season, as he's been a major dick this season. He offered $80m, all the money he's earned, to save Hank, and the phone call to Skyler was clearly an act to clear her name when he's being investigated, and then he left the baby some place safe to return to her. It's all too late for him though.sportdan30 wrote:What a disturbing and heartbreaking episode.....after tonight, I'm hoping Walt sees down the barrel of a shot gun.
