MLB 2K8 interview

I am having mostly good game, i'd say all in all i'm pretty happy.
except for the freeze i have in the 9th with 2 outs!!!! (1st ever) something tells me franchise is more prone to freezes.
and the fly ball that popped out of the glove, almost robbing a HR that came back in the park only to be completely impossible for any fielder to pick up. total WTF moments.

I like how you can really tell the ratings difference in the game, especially on the pitching side.
I pitched one game with Lincecom, where most of his ratings are in the 80s, and he was smoking batters just like real life (he had 11k's in real life yesterday, I had 8 with him in my game). I had a no hitter with him until the 9th when the first batter broke it up and then later in the inning the Padres Adrian Gonzales hit a 3 run hr to win the game. It was a tough loss.
Also try the Twins Liriano and the Tigers Verlander. Both are really fun to pitch with.

I had a good game last night but i lost.
it sort of bugged me since i brought in the bullpen and ended up having to sweat pitching from the stretch. I will note that i have mostly figured out the issue but with some pitchers its harder to "nail" the method i use.
When i notice the pitching meter is wacky i just do the 1st gesture twice, you should hold the second 1st gesture until you reach the effectiveness desired, after that follow through the actual 2nd gesture like usual.

I couldn't wait for the rosters and started a Reds franchise last night. The way 2K does things, the rosters should be out sometime around the All-Star break.
Don't get me wrong. I really enjoy this game, but, of course, there are some things I wish they did differently. First off, I wish you could just play a season. I don't want to set hot dog prices. Secondly, I tweaked sliders for the last 4 weeks and, lo and behold, you can't transport the exhibition sliders into a franchise and with no numbers on the sliders, it makes it even more difficult.
Anyways, going to play an 80 game season and started off with the Pirates. Got a few innings in in the rain. One thing they did do right is in-game saves.

Yes, I wish they had a season mode too. As it is, I'm playing Franchise and ignoring everything except the within-the-lines stuff. Perhaps that will screw me at some point.
After playing just over a half-dozen games after the patch, I'm not seeing any actual gameplay changes. Seems the same to me. I think the framerate is actually a little better than what it was when signed out of VIP, though.

I turned down reaction speed pre patch, and it helped a bit, but it seemed to happen too often still.
After the patch it appears they may have tweaked it, as the infielders are even sloer at reacting, and I've gotten more through the holes..... but again it might just be the framerate increase allowing me to hit the ball harder through the holes too......
I dropped reaction 5 clicks I think, as I didn't want them to become zombies.....

Right now I'm playing a test franchise to work on sliders over a longer haul to check stats. Does anyone know if, when a roster update comes out,and I restart my franchise, if my "perfected" sliders will carry over to the new franchise? With bars instead of numbers it will be hard to duplicate my sliders, and I hope I can just save them in the test franchise and have them appear automatically in my new, for real, franchise.
Thanks,
Joe
BTW, I think I have gotten around my meatball issue by lowering the TCP slider, while lowering each pitchers' control rating for each pitch by 25 and by lowering their "walks allowed" rating by 25 as well. I now walk people unintentionally (4 last game!) without giving up meatball, gopher balls. Except with cutters, unfortunately, which kills me b/c I play with the Yankees and Mariano. Other than that, I have pitch counts for both sides well into the 130s and 140s.
Thanks,
Joe

Yes - just pull down on the stick and then go to the left with it to pullbrendanrfoley wrote: I've also found pulling one off nearly impossible. Am I missing something?
(aim towards "9 oclock" for a hard pull or aim toward "10/11 oclock" for
a slight pull).
Make sure to wait for an inside pitch to pull (use the hitters eye too)
and it shouldn't be a problem. If you try and pull an outside pitch, it will usually be weakly hit for an out.
I think he means pulling off a diving stop while playing defense.JackB1 wrote:Yes - just pull down on the stick and then go to the left with it to pullbrendanrfoley wrote: I've also found pulling one off nearly impossible. Am I missing something?

I have made a few diving catches in the outfield but not in the infield. My reflexes must be gone as the ball is usually by my infielders by the time I think about pulling the trigger.
Unfortunately they do not carry over. It takes about 10 minutes, but you will have to count your clicks, and then readjust your sliders when you start your franchise. Someone posted (maybe at the beginning of this thread?) a sheet that lists the sliders name. I printed it out and marked down my numbers. I update it every time I make a slider tweak so I will no for the future.NoJoke wrote:Right now I'm playing a test franchise to work on sliders over a longer haul to check stats. I am having a great time in my Yankees season. I just played a 4 game series at Cleveland. I lost the first two games in 11 innings, won the third game 2-1 in 12 innings, and then shut them out 3-0 in game four to split the series. Now home to face the Tigers.

Received my Game Informer today and found this part of The Show review intriguing...
I don't have a ps3, but my neighbor does and I agree with this assessment.Since I am hopelessly addicted to Road to the Show, MLB 08 gets my nod for the game you'll get the most out of - but you really have to be into the concept of creating a player and raising him from a minor league hopefull to a major league all-star. When it comes down to gameplay and multiplayer sessions, however, I have to lean toward MLB 2k8 simply because it's a greater test of player skill.
Here is what ESPN thinks of both games.

I would have to agree with that as well and that was my main reason for choosing 2K8 over The Show. I am all about GAMEPLAY!
Playing last night I think I discovered they DID make a gameplay change after all.
While batting, I too have notice the CPU didnt' seem to get to as many balls hit through the hole.....
Well, last night, while pitching, there was a hit between 3rd and SS. The camer immediately switched, and I was trying to get Zimmerman over to the ball. Well, even though I had the stick pushed over to the right, Zimmerman did nothing until a second or slightly less AFTER I hit the stick, allowing the ball to go by.
Granted, it would have been a tough play to make, but if the ball had been right by him and he was "frozen" I'd be ticked.
I think the same is happening to the CPU, the fielders have been given a 'hesitation' before they start to move....
Question: Does anyone find the more they play the game, the later they start taking their steps? I find I have a few good games... then i fizzle out. The past few games I've played I haven't hit worth crap, so I decided to turn on the step feedback, only to find out that as early as I thought I was getting a step, it was coming up as late or very late..... I had to start a lot sooner in the motion then I thought, unless it was just a Brandon Webb thing......
