I think the poor early releases are also a reflection of the fact that the Wii's success has been surprising. I think many developers saw the weak processors and graphics power and thought that Nintendo would be swamped by the 360 and PS3.
I expect that given the actual market performance of the machine things will change, although there's an obvious lag between the game makers realizing they missed the boat and having them paddle all the way to it from shore

If anyone wants to buy a Wii, let me know. I'm going to sell mine as I know it will not get much play. Only had it a few days.
PM me.

I'm holding onto my Wii (ok, had to the inevitable Wii joke out of the way), and I'm glad to have it around. I am waiting for more "A" grade titles as well, but don't agree with all of the complaints about it.
Game selection isn't great right now if you are looking just at Wii games. Tiger and Madden are really fun. We bought Marble madness a few weeks ago, and that game uses the controller perfectly (plus it's fun to play). I'm waiting for a good fishing game, flight simulator, Star Wars games (Battlefront with the Wii would be awesome), and an Olympics title. In the meantime there are tons of great GC games that can be found for $10-$20. The bright side is that the list of upcoming games for the Wii is dramatically increasing, now that developers have finally caught on to the fact that is has a massive install base.
Online. I think some people are missing the point of the Wii. This is a console for people to play together....as in being in the same room. The main consumers for the Wii are people who want to play with friends and family. No worries about you 6 year old being exposed to f-bombs, n-words, or cheesers with the Wii.
The Wii has a completly seperate focus than the 360 and PS3. For a gaming father of a 6 year old gamer, that fits me fine. It still has some deep sports games that I am used to (Tiger Woods, Madden), while providing interesting games the whole family enjoys (Marble Madness, Wii Sports). I still get my "sports sim" fix from the Show on PSP, and my old Xbox titles (2k5, MVP, ID 2004).
I agree with Matt. As a three console owner now, the Wii almost went the way of trade-in when i bought the PS3, but i realized it can't be lumped into the same fold as the 360 or PS3. My daughter is the one who asks "Dad, can we play Wii." She gets a kick out of the Mii's, has fun bowling, golfing and playing baseball, and while i don't let her game regularly, to be able to spend a few minutes laughing with my kids (my other is four) while gaming makes this console worthwhile for me.
Sure i would love for another game or two that may interest me alone, but there are plenty of those on my other two units to fulfill my wants and needs.

My wife and kids love the Wii. My father-in-law loved playing golf and bowling. I can't wait to have my mom play bowling and Wario Ware this weekend. I totally agree with Matt and Rally. It's already a great family console and the games for adults will come.
My girlfriend plays the Wii almost daily, and all we have is Wii sports. I've yet to try Tiger or Madden. I think i'll rent Marble Madness based on all the recommendations in this thread. The console is exactly what i was expecting it to be, a great compliment to a 360 or PS3.
Just the other night we had a house warming party and there were a few matches of tennis and bowling going on. It's a great party system. The games are definitely lacking but Wii Sports has managed to fill that void very well. It's only a matter of time before the developers really start taking advantage of the hardware.

Totally agree with the last few posts. The Wii is a great family machine. My lady and I love doing the "Wii Vote". The entire family loves playing Wii Play (especially Pool and Find Mii). I like a couple of the VC games. Unfortunately, the BIG Nintendo blockbuster titles are just not ready yet. I have no other games right now besides Wii Sports and Wii Play, which is a bit of a bummer, but I have my 360 and PS3 for plenty of games too.
Like most of us have been saying since the Wii was officially announced, it will serve as a complimentary system for most people and especially for hardcore gamers. I cannot wait for Super Mario Galaxy and Smash Brothers. Metroid should be cool too. And then all the other stuff that may come out from the big “N” like all Mario sports games (tennis would be awesome!!!).

How's air hockey in Wii Play? Any good? Do you think that someone who really likes Wii Sports (my girlfriend) would like Wii Play? All the reviews have been pretty poor.

In my opinion, Wii Play is a no-brainer for somebody who is looking to pick up a new remote. It only costs $10 more and the Shooting Gallery and Find Mii games definitely offer $10 worth of fun.

Compeltely agree. Although I like the Pool, Air Hockey ahd Find Mii games the best.
I held off for a bit becasue of the reviews but then went for it for a family get together and it has been a hit ever since. I actually find more enjoyment out of it than Wii Sports.
I'm not sure why anyone here would have a Japanese Wii, but IGN has posted some really cool videos of this anime style football game called EyeShield 21.

I'll remember your disloyalty; I'll remember!
Actually, I hope everyone realizes that I like the Wii for its family-friendly, get the gang together style of play, and I still believe it has incredible potential. I'm simply saying that I'm nervous that the potential is not yet being tapped...
If that got to people, wait 'til my next blog post when I name the winner of this generation of console wars.

I picked up Paper Mario and I'm really enjoying it. It starts out *really* slow, but after a couple hours it's a lot of fun. It could easily pass for a GC or even N64 game though...LOL.
If you have an opened Wii you could easily sell in on ebay and get your money's back plus a little more.
Sudz, I missed your post. Sorry man.
