As did I, although the hammer toss has proven to be an immovable object in my effort to get through all events.
Watching dudes online, it seems there is a 'sweet spot' to the throw it right before it starts spinning really fast. Do it too early, it doesn't go far enough, too late & it's a guessing game. That said I still suck at it for the most part (I did make to the high jump once!)
Hammer Toss is probably the easiest in the game. You can get almost full power on this baby. The sweet spot is about 50% on the very last section, if that makes any sense.

Stranglehold... the first demo so far where I was really really sad to see it end. Precision aim is just... I don't know... it's everything I've ever wanted from shooting someone in a video game. The first time I targeted a groin... such a thing of beauty.

Yeah, the graphics are just awesome in Stranglehold, and the environment surrounding the game amazingly realistic. I had to get use to the aim a bit and the different camera angles but it's on my radar for sure.

Guys, I had a stroke of genius earlier while listening to classical music.( Ride of the Valkyries).

Anyway, how F'ng sweet would it be if "Return Fire"(PS1) would come to the Marketplace?

That is still, to this day, the most fun I have ever had on multiplayer gaming.

All the maps, strategy, and nervousness I felt when I fianlly found my brother in laws flag. That game was brilliant and would play perfectly on Live.

Image

My favorite moment is when I won, a video clip of Lou Gehrig was shown saying his famous Luckiest Man on the Face of the Earth speech.....priceless.

Lets get this on Live!

The graphics are great but the framerate is really unstable. I hope they smooth it out or at least lock it to a consistent rate for the full version. It goes from butter smooth indoors to some pretty decent stuttering outdoors.

The game made me motion sick. Too jerky. Environments are great looking though, movement is not IMO.

Didn't even have much interest in it, but I do now. Stranglehold is one of those type games that has legs in that the game is just FUN. It isn't serious, it isn't the least bit realistic, but it captures the 'feel' of a John Woo flick perfectly.

I may actually spring for this one, rather than GF'ing it...

The demo is amazing. That's how a demo should be done. The only thing that would have been better was an open environment like GTA.

It has the potential of being great online. I can see more people getting into this game than Shadowrun, and halo because of the "john woo" style over the 14 year old halo assassins.

I could do without the American accent on Asian characters but whatever.

Since the setting is Hong Kong seems out of place.

I know-I'm being a smartass, for one, and I just wanted to throw a Henry Cho video in the mix. I love Henry Cho...

Just WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If there is a better non-sports game this year then we are in for a real treat because this is the cats ass.

I have never, ever seen a game with such atmosphere and ambience.

The music, the audio...we are in for a real treat.

The graphics....holy cow.

Simply incredible.

From the dog's bollocks to the cat's ass... We've got interesting idioms for expressing "wow" factor :D

I tried both Stranglehold and Bioshock. here are my impressions.

Stranglehold is like max payne but faster paced and it seems like they have the whole bullet time thing perfected. That being said, it got boring really fast. I didn't even finish the demo. It got really repetitive. I can see multiplayer being fun but I don't see myself buying it.

Bioshock is crazy cool. I have had high expectations for this game for a while and the demo doesn't disappoint. The splicers talking to themselves (and even each other) is creepy. I don't think I heard any repeated lines either. Even the opening plane crash pleasantly surprised me. From all the previews i had read i thought it was just gonna be a FMV intro and that's it. Imagine my delight when I found I had to swim to safety from burning fuel. My only fear is that the game will scare the s*** out of me and I'll have a hard time just getting through it, which is what happened with System Shock 2.

Greg,

On the right hand side of the screen there's a power meter or whatever its called. You want to release the hammer around 1490. That's almost the max power you can throw it at. 1500 is too much and you throw it into the wall. Remember the number on the right hand side is what you want to focus on. Hit 1490 and 45 degrees and you can get it over 95 meters. If you are really good your throw with be slightly late and you with throw along the very top foul line for 98-99 meters.

It takes a little luck and practice to release it right when the meter is at 1490. And remember 45 degrees is the sweet spot for the angle.

Hope this helps.

Hehe...I'm the same way. I'm a p*ssy when it comes to games and horror movies. Just not my thing I guess. But the demo for Bioshock is ridiculously cool. I'm sure I'll pick it up for the PC since I'm still a mouse and keyboard guy at heart. First person shooters just cannot be beat on the PC.

Yeah, PC all the way for me. All I need is the video card for my new rig and I'm ready to go. The controls for the 360 version are not bad. Better than most FPS. I found the switching between plasmids and weapons very easy and intuitive, however I still found myself missing enemies because of the inaccuracy of the analog stick.

I liked them both, but Bioshock is unreal at how nice that game looks and how creppy it is to play. I think it will be a must purchase for me.

Just an FYI - Supposedly the Bioshock release date has been moved up to TODAY. Numerous stores have it and TV commercials are now saying "available now". Not my cup of tea but i know some of you are excited for the game (Pigpen :))
