Not known for complaining, doesn't hide in matches, has a surname JFK can probably manage to pronounce. Over half of his Premiership goals have been scored against Newcastle, so signing him would have seemed a good idea whether you'd needed a full-back or not.
He is, as Macca says, a real threat from set pieces, something I learned when in a playoff semi-final second leg for Tranmere he scored with a wickedly swerving free-kick (via post and keeper's head, yes, but still...) and knocked in a consistently strong dead ball that gave my beloved Pools nightmares all night.

In other news I'm still pinching myself that we've almost got our money back with Keane. Good luck Robbie, I'll miss your sarcastic smiles after you miss a sitter and every time you told our manager to f*** off when you were substituted. JimmyDeicide will actually miss that last part.
On the other hand, you could say that Liverpool's 6 month loan of Robbie Keane cost them £8m....makes Jo look like a proper bargain

Exactly, Feanor. Taylor is an automatic fixture in JFK's starting 11 if he has a pulse, is useful in the back four and can score from set pieces.
Take care,

Hmm, I don't think any Newcastle defender is worth having this season, even Ryan Taylor. Not when I have enough to replace him with someone from Everton's back 4.
The latest ESPN Soccernet podcast is up and has some good discussion about the latest transfers.
After all the talk from Kinnear of adding players it appears as if the transfer window for NUFC was a letdown. We got rid of a couple good players (good riddance to one of them) and brought in nothing too exciting. Oh, and we also signed Butt for an additional year. Butt lacks pace and is over-the-hill, and should be nothing better than a reserve at this point, so this move is par for the course for the dimwits in charge.
I suppose with Martins and Viduka coming back very soon management feels as if the club can escape relegation, then more value for the money can be had in the summer in shoring up the squad. For fans, though, this is incredibly frustrating. Newcastle did not get as much as they could have for Given (again, not surprising considering who is running the show), and they already received a lot for Milner earlier in the season. Thus, there should have been much more spent in the transfer the window. From a fan's standpoint Ashley is not doing what it takes to better a squad facing relegation. I can live with his actions if indeed he is waiting until the next transfer window to go after real quality, and of course the club escapes relegation. I will be furious, however, if we start next season with anything less than better quality than what we currently put on the pitch.
Part of me wants to support Ashley and think that he's getting the financial affairs in order and helping Wise build a strong academy, yet at the same time both Ashley and Wise have shown a propensity to make incompetent decisions. Ah, to be a supporter of NUFC!

Newcastle's defense can actually be fairly decent depending on the chemistry of the personnel used. Bassong, for example, is becoming an excellent player now that he, Coloccini, and Enrique are getting used to each other. Enrique has also put in some admirable performances as of late. Coloccini is perhaps a step slow at times, but he has generally been solid thus far.

Maybe for the dirty monkey Mackems. What I dread most is if by chance they get sent down they won't come back out after the first year. There is only so much humiliation we can take.

Haha! That's pathetic. I suffer a double whammy since my favorite club after Newcastle is Norwich, who are swimming near the bottom of the Championship table. In the SPL I support Inverness, who are complete trash this year and at the bottom of the SPL table. Not a good year for supporting winning football from my perspective. I guess on a positive note I haven't been sued yet.
Caledonian stadium may not hold many people but it has the largest pitch in the SPL, not to mention its picturesque location. I've never been able to go there but its cool watching televised matches held at Caledonian stadium. The atmosphere seems fairly lively from what I can tell.
Hoeness was a mediocre wanker as a player....nice to see that nothing's changed.
Not sure how he takes the moral high ground either, given that Bayern spent years ripping players out of other German clubs. And I think he's kidding himself if he thinks that Bayern don't need money...they may have had a turnover of €220m, but pretax profits of €2m don't exactly scream mega money....
Maybe he didn't enjoy Stoke v City because, shock horror, some of the fans weren't wearing suits and cashmere coats, unlike Bayern's fans who make Man U's prawn sandwich eaters look like ultras.

2.1 million is after tax, not pretax. Also includes a one time 7.1 million charge due to the stadium. Add to the fact that there is no champions league money in there and that the Bundesliga TV package is substancially lower than the EPL one, I'd say the figures aren't bad in a declining economy.
As part of our gratitude for buying Robbie Keane we are doing a special promotion;
'Buy 1 Robbie, Get 1 Lucas FREE!'
That's right, you can get Lucas Leiva ABSOLUTELY FREE, this is a limited time offer as he is soon to be kneecapped by irate Liverpool fans. Don't miss this opportunity to pick up a rare example of a Brazillian with little to no skill!

Well done Everton. Bastards. Careful, if Gossling gets good Moyes will be selling him to Man U....
Beckham said: ''I think people have seen the way I've been since playing at this level again. It's nothing against the MLS and the football over there, because it's a game that will grow but it will take quite a few years.
Understatement of the year. I don't think Beckham fully understood how crap football in the US is. I hope he stays in Italy, for his sake. Becks still has a good amount of game and is playing well now that he's playing for a real team that understands football.
Looks pretty sharp in that Milan shirt no? I don't blame him for not wanting to come back but he really didn't do much to endear the sport to American's hearts while he played here. He's still got so much talent he really needs to be playing where he'll be appreciated by the most people and that will never be anywhere north of Mexico.

Given that those figures are last year's, that wasn't a declining economy, though that will probably be offset by the CL money. Still, quite comic to see knobhead talking about other people splashing cash. since that's all BM have done in the Bundesliga for years.

Tell 'Arry that not only did Tottenham have Lucas before he took over (and thus he should buy him back), but also that his agent likes to do deals involving the exchange of hard currency in paper bags....HH will then claim that the deal was done on Friday, he tapped him up telepathically, and that letting him play last night was a favour to 'my old mate Moyesy'.
Seriously though...Lucas is one of the most fundamentally stupid players I have seen for a long while, and that is saying something.

There were only two reasons Beckham came to the U.S.: The money and to give his pouty pop trash wife a Hollywood platform from which she became an utter failure in American fashion and entertainment circles.
Once Becks and Posh realized that Americans didn't hang on their every meaningless move and brainless utterance like the glitterati in Europe, Becks was looking for the exit.
Dude never was in it for the footie or to grow the game in America.
