And then the Vikings got killed in the SB.

Similar thing with Buffalo.

The cold-weather games are stuff of legends because of the thermometer readings but rarely because of the play. The extreme weather changes the way teams play, either making them more conservative or missed tackles and slips result in big plays.

I rather see the players at their best and it's not sub-freezing temperatures or high winds.

Seahawks have thrown the towel before the half is even over. :(

Who's willing to admit that the Jags would be on a brink of winning their division next week when they face Peyton and the Colts?

Just saw that.

Silverdome also had a soft dome? Carrier Dome pictures also seem to show a soft roof.

What is the reason they put up a soft dome in cities which could get a lot of snow? Is it cost-saving? Or is an inflatable dome actually better for snow?

A hard dome which is convex would seem to be better for preventing the accumulation of snow because it wouldn't sag, allowing more snow to accumulate and weight down the roof than fall off the side.

Gotta love the Jets sideline sticking out a foot to purposely trip up Nolan Carroll, dirty bastards.

Might as well add the Braylon Edwards horse collar on Vonte Davis not called.

The Jets are the most overrated team in the NFL. The Dolphins are terrible and they dominated the Jets vaunted offense. Probably the worst NFL game I have ever watched. Two just garbage teams.

Can't wait to hear Vinny's rant on Rex Ryan. :)

I agree with profootballtalk.com that the league needs to suspend whoever was responsible for purposely tripping up Nolan Carroll, the dude came off a broken leg last year, not cool. Now I know why Sean Smith was converted from WR to CB, the dude can't catch. :P

The Carrier Dome has an air-supported roof with a pretty elaborate heating system to melt snow since the 'Cuse averages 115 inches of snow per winter. That system wasn't part of the roof when the Dome was built in 1980. It was only added when snow collapsed the Dome roof about 20 years ago, much like the Metrodome.

Stadiums with air-supported roofs are much less expensive to build than hard-roofed stadiums. The roof consists of nothing but cables and Teflon-coated nylon cloth.

The other thing about a domed stadium - imagine the snow sliding off the roof and onto the surrounding areas. Surely, it must be directed somewhere but still it would seem to have an "avalanche" effect as it slides off.

I'm surprised that they didn't deflate the Dome prior. Syracuse has done that a couple times as a pre-emtive measure when they have expected a heavy snowfall amount in a short time.

Call me a simpleton but i'm amazed there isn't a device that could be setup inside the dome to shake off all that snow on top of the roof. :)
