I just ordered online the 64GB version for $719, shipping Mar 19. Someone just offered me $450 for the iPad 2 which is also 64GB. Wondering if I could $500 for it?

One cool tech rumored to be on the current iPad would have been mega cool. There's a new haptic technology where you can feel display images as you move your finger across the area. I was hoping that would have been on the new iPad.

Bingo.

I could definitely see how how gaming on the iPad and other mobile devices has become more popular than the 360 and PS3. My daughter and I get allergy shots weekly and we have to sit there for 30 minutes in case we have a reaction. The doctor's office is filled to capacity with parents and kids gaming on their mobile devices. The kids nowadays just borrow their parent's Android or iPhone and are quite content.

These same parents who run around like crazy with errands, work, soccer games, baseball games, are able to find time here and there to game on their phone or tablet. Many of them would scoff at gaming on a PS3 or Xbox.

I myself am highly addicted to Bejeweled Blitz, and my daughter and I quite frequently pass the iPad back and forth playing Scrabble. These devices are great for short gaming sessions (5-30 minute stretches). I would never give up my console and strictly game on a mobile device however. Nothing beats having a controller in your hand playing a game on a big screen with deeper gameplay.

My wife just told me she is buying me a new ipad (she's awesome). I've had an iphone and a ipod touch, so the interface is familiar but not form factor and ipad specific apps. Should be interesting.

I was notified that my shiny new iPad has shipped and I'll be receiving it on March 16th :). I'm selling my current 64 gb iPad 2 to a co worker so a good bit of the sting of purchasing the new beast has been neutralized. Looking forward to Friday...which just happens to be my birthday :).

You mind me asking how much you're selling your ipad 2? I gave my word to a co-worker for the 64GB for $450, but I know also that they are in high demand the 64GB's, and maybe I could get more for it. Mine is shipping on the 19th.

We didn't really agree on a price but he knows I'm looking for about what you listed ($450). I'm gonna look on EBay to get a true target.

This is the first time I'm actually looking forward to the release of an apple product. Crazy...now I just have to decide which model I'm going to keep for myself. The 32gb Verizon or At&t. Decisions, decisions. I also cannot believe I dropped 790 dollars on a device so I don't have to give it back to work when I someday. LOL. Should have all three of mine on Friday.

If you're considering ordering a 16GB iPad, this is a good article that might steer you towards a 32GB:

Yeah...I had decided I was going to just get the 16gb, but then I remembered how big magazines are to download. Road & Track and Golf Digest are anywhere from 300-600mb a piece...so to have a nice selection on your ipad, you're eating massive amounts of data. Couple that with the impending update of all the apps, I completely agree with the article. 32gb MINIMUM. I'm really shocked they didn't drop a 128gb model.

Phew. Was about to "Confirm Purchase" for the 16gb last week when just to double check I looked at my iPad1 and saw it was actually 32 (some reason I thought it was 16) so changed to the 32gb. Glad I did. Mine has shipped as well. Pretty psyched as I skipped the iPad2 so for me this is going to be a massive upgrade. :D

Analysts are expecting Apple to sell 1 million iPads on Friday alone. Some may argue that the improvements on the new iPad are just incremental but that woud be an impressive number.

Some people are just underestimating how much the retina display would improve the overall experience on the device.

There was a lot of skepticism about the first iPad too but a lot of its sales were made by in-person demos, the so-called "magical" aspect of the product.

I suspect the display will have a similar effect, though it's been rumored for over a year so people are kind of ho-hum about it, now that it's arrived. But it's a pretty significant technical achievement, which may usher in a new era of high-dpi displays.

Some are saying it may help with the push for 4K TVs.

OTOH, I recalled that a lot of people were watching DVDs on HDTVs or even worse SD content without realizing it.

I think some didn't know what HD content looked like. They were first happy with the flat panels.
