I think you have a battery problem. But I have noticed my battery runs down faster with the multi-tasking. I really wish you could select which problem to multi-task and the rest shut down.dougb wrote:new OS for the phone and touch is draining the battery at rather impressive speed. Read an article that AT&T needed to negotiate right-of-way in a lot of places to put up more base stations.
But there is often local opposition and sometimes, competitors get involved in these proceedings to lock them out.
Both VZW and T grew to where they are through acquisitions over the years. But I think T grabbed bigger networks, like the old Cingular and Southwest Bell and others.
In any event, looks like they're going to put in data tiers to try to manage data growth and VZW is expected to follow suit.
So much for streaming video.

I don't think it's a battery problem because the same problem is being reported in a number of forums. It's a change in the OS which is keeping wifi active when the unit is asleep. It's a ridiculous error for Apple to make in the interface because it means a number of steps to put the unit to sleep rather than 1.JRod wrote:I think you have a battery problem. Found the same thing was happening to me - phone was draining at a ridiculous rate compared to prior to the OS update.
Was playing around with the settings this morning and found that PUSH email had been turned on. I've turned it off since but it's too soon to see if that'll make a difference. It should, I think.

I've simply gone to the expedient of turning off wifi when my Itouch is not in use but will look at that setting as well. I was surprised that they introduced a change leading to severe battery drain but perhaps we're just not using the devices properly

Not using my touch as much now that I've got an Ipad. Really love the kindle app and the Ibooks currently doesn't have anything in its Canadian selection apart from those books that copyright has expired. Picked up Football Manager for the Iphone and it looks half decent on my Ipad.
Best wishes,

Thanks. I'd love to see them due an ipad version to take advantage of the bigger screen. Not sure if this will happen as they may not have the programming resources to do yet another version.Macca00 wrote:Doug,
After the update Football Manager on the iPhone is really, really good.

Hey guys, stupid question - I got a new computer and I used a program to transfer all my music and iTunes play lists/counts/etc. to the new computer for my iPhone/Pod. How do I transfer my iPhone apps (including paid apps) and the notes, game saves and so on I have on my iPhone to the new computer?
Thanks!
Lavan

I had to do something similar last year and I don't recall a software that would allow you to transfer your apps. You simply buy the same apps/games again from itunes and it'll recognize your id without charging you twice, even though it may ask you to buy it again.Macca00 wrote:Hey guys, stupid question - I got a new computer and I used a program to transfer all my music and iTunes play lists/counts/etc. to the new computer for my iPhone/Pod. If you have a backup of your hard drive, you could transfer that to your new computer.
Not sure on the PC but in Mac, there is a directory where your iPhone is backed up. So if you copy that over to your new computer and then from within iTunes, you should be able to restore one of the previous backups.
When you have the iPhone connected and iTunes open, you select the iPhone icon in the left column and there should be an option to restore.
Otherwise, yeah you should be able to re-download the apps.

Thanks James & Wco - my sister (a Mac Addict) also told me that you just have to 'authorize' the new itunes to re-download your purchased apps, for the notes and save games I'm going to try what wco said. Fingers crossed.

If you're transferring from a Mac to a new Mac and you have a Time Machine backup of the old computer, then you could transfer all your files over during the setup process (when you first boot your computer). There will be a screen which prompts you for data to transfer from your old computer. You can transfer your user login and password too.
You need an external USB or Firewire drive though. But it's a good idea to back up your computer to an external disk anyways.
After a transfer, your iTunes library should be all intact. You will need to authorize all your iTunes-purchased content but that's a simple menu item in iTunes, after you log in with the same iTunes account.
At that point, you can just sync your iPhone and it should just work, not even needing to restore, because your iTunes library should be the same on the old and new computers.
I'm sure there's a similar mechanism for Windows too, though you might have to buy a third-party backup and restore program to transfer data from old to new PCs.

Review of iPhone 4 from a photographer, who praises the camera.
It's not a DSLR but he got pretty good results compared to a nice point and shoot.

I love the new camera. It's officially the best digital camera I own currently. The only downside I've found is the flash seems a little too bright in some situations & blows everything out.wco81 wrote:Review of iPhone 4 from a photographer, who praises the camera.

Can you turn the flash off or is it automatic?

It's has three options: Auto, On (always), Off (always). I download the iFlashlight app which turns the flash into a flashlight. Pretty powerful little LED light. I've used it numerous times already.EZSnappin wrote:Can you turn the flash off or is it automatic?

Got my iPhone arrived email yesterday unfortunately there was no way I could pick it up today. Oh well, now I'll just wait until I get the urge to order it again.
