Newcastle caught Juventus on an off-night and put together back-to-back clean sheets. The Magpies carried the action from early in the first game and never really let up. Buffon did what he could to keep Juventus in the games, but the offense never really got into sync. Juventus' evening was exemplified by a Del Piero shot which smashed into the far post, traced the goal line almost perfectly and struck the near post and deflected out.
Bubba, I still can't believe that shot and it was typical of your luck tonight. It was just one of those nights where the ball was always just where I needed it to be and I didn't miss my chances. Good luck down the road.

Liverpool 0 Newcastle 4

Corner 1, 6
Offside 1, 0
Posses. 50,50
Newcastle: Ameobi (39', 60') Owen (47', 58')
Injury: Dyer (Yellow)
Newcastle's third consecutive clean sheet and a brace apiece for Ameobi and Owen saw them past recently-promoted Liverpool in a match played at Anfield. Newcastle dominated the early possession, breaking through with an Ameobi snapshot from 18 yards in the 39th minute. Owen followed up with a classy volley 9 minutes later. Liverpool saw the better part of the ball in the second half but could not prevent Ameobi and Owen from netting their second goals.

Posses. 54, 44
Newcastle:
Ameobi (12', 30', 50') Shearer (45+) Owen (60')
Liverpool:
Gerrard (56')
Ameobi's hat trick helped Newcastle continue their winning ways. Liverpool troubled Shay Given several times, but only Gerrard's classy second half free kick from 22 yards found the back of the net. Ameobi's goals were all very similar strikes from the edge of the area in the center. Carragher and Hyypia marked the raging forward aggressively but he repeatedly was able to find space to do his damage. Shearer's goal right at the hafltime whistle was a gem. Jerzy Dudek parried Shearer's initial effort from 19 yards only to see the Newcastle skipper volley the rebound off the crossbar and down across the goal line
Jimmy, good games man. Ameobi is just on some kind of hot streak with 8 goals in his last 4 games.
Zeppo, Dyer was hurt in the first game. I sat him out of the second rather than wait to play it. It was a yellow cross.

Rob - 90 shots in 3 games.. Damn, i'm more than impressed. Currently i'm on pace for 96 shots for the season!
Are you playing your games on half a pitch at an amusement park by any chance?
All kidding aside, nice offense!
Thanks. I've just been on a bit of a hot streak lately. WE is a mercurial mistress though, and I'm sure that a slump is just around the corner.

Fifa, I'd love to grab that slot tonight. Just let me know.FifaInspected wrote:Tonight 10:30 ET
Squid, I'm pretty flexible, especially if you can play earlier rather than later at say at 9:30PM eastern just about any night until next Thursday. (Zeppo please don't read this...LOL) Maybe we could play 2 games some night (except tonight if I play FIFA).

Stuttgart.... Meira RED
More action, this time with goals. Still don't know how Hoffs got his yellow, or why the summary at the end said he got 2 (in the same minute) but the play-by-play only showed one. Meira took Kuyt down in the box for his red. Fifa, you'll have to add him and the card to the stats.
Kuyt got his hat trick and leads D2 in scoring!

I have found errors in the summary. In one of my games I scored two goals. It showed up in the final score and play-by-play, but only listed one in the summary.FabulousBastard wrote:Still don't know how Hoffs got his yellow, or why the summary at the end said he got 2 (in the same minute) but the play-by-play only showed one.
