Make sure you allow the game to automatically set your graphics settings. If your using Vista check your power plan and set it to either "Balanced or High Performance".JackB1 wrote:I refuse to play this until they add a mouse-swing option. That 3 click swing bored me to tears. No immersion whatsoever. I would rather play TW09 for PC.
The graphics look nice but it did chug a little at times.
Divot has a sweet laptop. My lowly Vostro 1500 runs on a T5270 1.4ghz dual core with an nvidia 8400GS GPU. The game runs in all low settings but it looks and plays (performance wise) better than TW2004 on the same laptop. I really can't complain with how the game works. EA did a nice job of scaling hardware requirements for this game.Naples39 wrote:I also got in the beta, and I have to agree with btm saying it's hard to judge.
Also, my laptop (with gma950 graphics) really struggles with this even on the lowest settings. I really wish this beta had true swing as to me that is the whole point of PC golf, but I can't complain about a free beta.
As I mentioned to Jack if you're on Vista check your power plan.
Yeah, I didn't really mean to complain about the game's performance, moreso that my laptop is essentially completely unusable for gaming.Rodster wrote:Divot has a sweet laptop. The first beta would not even run on that Intel graphics chip, so the fact that it at least runs is a big step forward. The game scales beautifully with stronger hardware, but I know some laptops are just not meant for 3D gaming....Naples39 wrote:I also got in the beta, and I have to agree with btm saying it's hard to judge.

I meant 08.DivotMaker wrote:TrueSwing is coming in a subsequent beta.JackB1 wrote:I refuse to play this until they add a mouse-swing option. That 3 click swing bored me to tears. No immersion whatsoever. I would rather play TW09 for PC.

When did TW 09 for PC come out?
Seriously, I would rather play '01 w/ mouse swing, than this.
Glad to hear it's coming later.
Those are impressive videos. It's good to see the game offering a good and balanced challenge for those who are willing to put in the time. I'll probably bite on the 360 version when it drops in price some.HipE wrote:I just finished my first major tournament yesterday, coming in second place to Tiger. I had a 3 shot lead on him going into the final round, but he somehow managed to shoot a 58 (-13!) to beat me by 3 strokes, -32 overall to my -29. I sure hope this isn't how every major is going to play out, that just kind of takes the fun out of it.
I did however get my first tour pro ace in the tourney, as well as making my longest putt ever (67 feet). I have uploaded videos of both:

I'm still loving the game, I just wish there was some way to remove Tiger Woods from my season. But I guess that is how most PGA golfers feel in real life as well.

I'm loving the online (360) skins game with friends, but what's with no "pro" difficulty for created games??? It's either Amateur or (I forgot the name) 'Hard'. Bizarre design decision to say the least. Amateur is super-easy & 'hard' is a difficulty most of my friends don't play in the offline mode. Any idea if they're changing this? I'm guessing no.

I think I'm with ya. The PC version, even with the 3 click is just not doing it for me. The ball trajectory and physics when it hits the ground is kinda off to me. I don't know. At least I can play it relatively well on my MacBook. So I'm sure I'll get it for that reason alone.PRBoom wrote:I know the PC version is only in closed Beta form right now, but give me the 360 version every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

I can see where you are coming from. I don't think EA should have had an open beta with the game lacking so much content (compared to what is planned for release). I also think the character progression is too slow for most veteran PC users. It takes forever to get decent enough attributes to make the gameplay more enjoyable and only 2 courses gets old pretty quick, especially two that have been in TW since the beginning. "Tedious" is the word I would use to describe the current build. And I agree about the 3-click...it is not a good meter and the game needs TrueSwing BADLY....PRBoom wrote:I know the PC version is only in closed Beta form right now, but give me the 360 version every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
They have alot of work ahead of them to get this ready for a late Fall launch.
The 3 click meter reminds me of Hotshots Golf and Mario Golf. I much prefer the tried and true Links 3 click meter which was also used in previous TW games. I much prefer true swing.DivotMaker wrote:And I agree about the 3-click...it is not a good meter and the game needs TrueSwing BADLY....

I also agree much work needs to be done prior to release. Lets hope they can pull it off.
