I thought it was a great flick.tjung0831 wrote:Is that movie anygood? I've been wanting to see it for sometime.
As far as music goes, I accidently bought Death Cab for Cutie's latest, thinking it was what the store was playing. Enjoyable, especially considering it is not what motivated me to buy the disc. Also picked up A Tribe Called Quest's Anthology--definitely digging it.

Garden State is a great movie. A little sappy at times, a little funny at times with some classic lines & character interactions. All in all, I liked the message and the intelligent/artistic way things were presented.
The Soundtrack, for the most part, is utterly stunning and one of the best 'albums' I've bought in years. Zach Braff (writer, actor - "Scrubs") has great taste in music and clearly selected some of the music for the TV Show in addition to his movie. The Shins, Remi Zero, Rogue Wave - all bands introduced to me via Zach.
I'll post my playlist as an iMix on iTunes for anyone interested in checking it out. It's a bit mellow, but it is just superb for 'easy' listening.

Scoop, how's that Kanye album? I loved his first, of course. Always wary of sophomore jinx though.ScoopBrady wrote:This past week I've been listening to:

The new Gang of Four record is pretty impressive. It's re-recordings of old stuff from 25 years ago, which isn't the same as new songs. On the other hand, the old material holds up well and the rhythm section still cuts. It sounds just like Bloc Party
This may blow any musical cred I have here but my daughter has been listening to The Click Five and damn it if "Just the Girl" isn't the catchiest pop song in recent memory.

I never heard of Kanye West before last weekend. What a brilliant PR move for him.RobVarak wrote:Scoop, how's that Kanye album? I loved his first, of course. Always wary of sophomore jinx though.ScoopBrady wrote:This past week I've been listening to:

Was it that bad? I was looking forward to getting a copy pretty soon. I like his music, but he's got crazy ego problems. Maybe that affected his effort on this latest album...thinking he's got the midas touch.dbdynsty25 wrote:The new Kanye album is truely a sophomore jinx. I was bored out of my mind listening to it. Well, there's 3 really good songs, 3 good songs, and the rest is average at best. If you get it at the price I got it at you can't go wrong though.RobVarak wrote:Scoop, how's that Kanye album? Scoop, what do you think of the new Opeth cd? I'm enjoying it quite a bit but it seems a bit more bland than past releases. Of course with more listening, Opeth usually gets better and better.ScoopBrady wrote:This past week I've been listening to:

I'm really digging it so far. The opening track is just sick. Opeth usually does require a few listens before really loving it and I'm already half way there after only 2 times through it.Dimmu wrote:Scoop, what do you think of the new Opeth cd? To paraphrase Snoop, an MC without ego problems is like Harold Melvin without the Blue Notes...he'll never go platinum!tsunami wrote:Was it that bad? Scoop,
What songs on the KanYe Album did you like? Because I actually like this album alot more than the College Dropout Album. College Dropout had way too many skits, that broke up the flow of the album to me, songs were so-so, I felt the album was completely overrated, but this album I'm feelin' the lyrics alot more especially on songs like addiction, diamonds, and late(the last song on the album), the song with Nas was good, but I've grown a little tired of it now. I think adding Jon Brion was a good move and I hope that producers will get more musical instead of the Crunk sound which is becoming so dominant nowadays.

Picked up the Kanye, which is solid but not inspirational after a couple of listens.
Much more impressive were the last two Lyrics Born albums. I've loved this guy since Latyrx and meant to pick these up for awhile. Great, great stuff from a truly distinctive-sounding MC.
