ESPN College Hoops Impressions....

Gators, I think you will be disappointed in the animations in College Hoops since you have been playing a lot of Live. Live has so many animations that I am seeing new ones even after dozens of games. There are probably 15-20 different animations in Live alone for when I player gets fouled on the way to the hoop.

Yeah, that was what I was trying to basically say to pk. Every time I play Live 2005 new animations do indeed creep out.Leebo33 wrote:Gators, I think you will be disappointed in the animations in College Hoops since you have been playing a lot of Live. I think I'll just go with March Madness 2005. I'm sure I'm in for a tweak fest with the sliders but I'll probably be less frustrated with the control scheme and the Sega basketball nuances that I found nuisances.
Just pondering outloud about ISOMOTION
I really wish they would eliminate it for the college game and on some of the other boards I venture it seems people are confused about college basketball. College basketball is about passing, setting screens/picks, cuts to the basket from players off the ball and running your plays - more then it is one on one let me break your ankles with my killer crossover.
I rarely even touch isomotion and most of the time is it because I accidentaly hit "b" since I stay away from the R Trigger. I think as many people have mentinoed it does not feel right and the animations are far too prolonged (which is why I don't play the pro game very much).
If you simply run your offensive sets you can score w/o any of the hassles. The give and go works very well at getting the passer to the basket and if you absolutely need to get your point gaurd to the hole ------ set a pick.
That is all...

Real men don't need no stinking right thumbstick to play defense and we sure as heck do not need two buttons for shooting.Leebo33 wrote:They should indeed abandon ISOMOTION if they aren't going to do it right. However, there is no need to abandon the use of the right stick totally. As Sport mentioned, freestyle on *defense* is a great feature.

Did CH really nail the rosters this year? They were decent last year but not totally accurate. With KU alone, I counted 4 walk-ons! That alone is amazing. In the past, when a game got out of hand, I still had to play my starters. Now, I have the option of throwing in the walk-ons. I'm just curious if that's true with the other schools?

I know they got the 5 new players in for the Razorbacks. Their starting lineup is off, but very close...but that changes throughout the year anyway. Some ratings may be off a little but pretty close none the less. I haven't heard many complaints at all about the rosters...I think they did an excellent job. So...when did they realease an updated roster last year?sportdan30 wrote:Did CH really nail the rosters this year? They were decent last year but not totally accurate. Why they didn't put this back this year is beyond explanation.ubrakto wrote:Though it would be nice if they gave us back control over when to face-up on defense (preferably using the left trigger).Real men don't need no stinking right thumbstick to play defense and we sure as heck do not need two buttons for shooting.

Last year, it took them at least 7-10 days to get the complete roster up to date. The nice thing is they generally release a partial roster update with what they have edited thus far. You'll see anywhere from 2-4 or so conferences done that you can save at a time.TheTruth wrote:I know they got the 5 new players in for the Razorbacks. Javi,
There's a tremendous amount of hope Galindo will be the answer to KU outside shooting woes. There were many enthusiastic fans who were excited he decided to come to KU. However, he's been nursing a sore groin for a while now, so he's been pretty much riding the pine. He has stated that he's really been paying close attention to Self's playcalling so he'll be ready for game action. I think he has played sparingly in the two exhibition games and didn't contribute much. Tonight will be the first time I get to see him play live. I'm quite excited to see him as we desperately need a pure shooter of his calibar.
Self has really recruited unbelieveably so players seemingly can get overshadowed because there are so many top players on the team. I don't see him making an immediate impact this year because of the 4 returning seniors, and the depth of the bench. But I'm guessing he'll get around 15-20 minutes a game. Check out the following article Mr. Galindo. Nice read.

Agreed my L Trigger finger gets so lonely during basketball games now. ESPN is trying to take a little too much control of the game in some aspects.
Pretty sure he is referring to OS or other site that makes rosters.TheTruth wrote:Dan,sportdan30 wrote:Last year, it took them at least 7-10 days to get the complete roster up to date. See this thread - for Xbox. Folks are doing it conference by conference. There is a download with about 9 conferences done.

The zip has the datelinfo.xbx file it it which you probably need to delete before you can use it.

I'm almost certain that NCAA regulations prohibit Sega or any gaming company from releasing a roster update with real player names.
Take care,

Just played a great game vs. Badgun.
I have two concerns:
- There are way too many blocked shots close up on slam attempts. Chris Taft just got rejected from behind about 3 times on slams.
- Is there a way to avoid the camera change on defense when you watch the other team take free throws? I just gave up at least 4 offensive rebounds because I couldn't see to box out or grab the rebound.
Great game though and mega fun.

Have not noticed that yet but after seeing this I had to laugh as in my final game of ESPN NBA (returned since I prefer college hoops). I played with the Denver and had Earl Boykins (all 5'5) come of the bench to block 3 dunks in one game. I just chalked it up to my superior skillzThere are way too many blocked shots close up on slam attempts. Chris Taft just got rejected from behind about 3 times on slams.
Don't know if there is but I find it best to switch to one of the players closer to the free throw shooter and let the CPU block out.Is there a way to avoid the camera change on defense when you watch the ther team take free throws?
