After a few drop in games earlier yesterday with randoms and hooking back with the Dragons at night, I must say that this Beta has promises. Playing D is challenging in this game since the creation of EASHL, but as Jimmy was saying last night, there are things that make it more natural for the blueliners to control the attacking players. Whether its the effective poke, or good positioning, you can knock off the opponent off the puck and that shift momentum just makes the puck to be loose. In 16 we would see a sniper carrying on the puck even after being hit by an enforcer as it was vanilla, without losing a step. Just a small contact in this Beta can separate the puck from the carrier.

So I am seeing a lot more loose pucks to fight for, to reach for. Even the AI seems to be more positionally sound in marking the open guy.

If there was one weakness or two that I noticed while playing D is that the Y button may not be working as advertised. YET. I wasn't sure what our English lad was talking about but apparently by pressing the Y once, you're supposed to be jostling for positioning in front of the crease. Not sure if that is working as advertised although I have not tried it yet.

But on boards battles, my Y button seem to struggle a bit too while trying to pin the opponent down. As in a slight delay. So there's something to improve on EA.

My second slight beef is when you're trying to square up to the opponent, yet when you press the vision controller on LT, there seems to be a delay and before you know it, the opponent has two steps ahead of you creating many breakaways. So watch out for that. Be very careful with your pinchs. If you're late or made a bad pinch just go back to the blueline by hustling back but don't square up as your player looks clumsy in that transition losing precious seconds.

Speaking of delays, I also noticed that Robo didn't have quite the timing and precision in delivering the pass. Instead it was always a second late creating many interceptions.

But based on last night, I am sure most would agree that the gameplay has improved somehow and EA can further improved on the Beta.

Not sure if it was a glitch but when that team scored 4-5 goals from the #circle by simply slapping the puck on the keeper' short side is something to be aware of. And on a positive note, not many wraparounds were tried or were successful at it.

And Diablo you did a fine job with the arena and jerseys overall. Since we unlocked a few more items, what I have changed is basically for the Vintage font and jerseys. Once we are on the ice the colors are fine, we just need a nice logo dammit.

Other than that folks, for those that don't play online, the presentation is pretty much the same, the commentary is the same (they gotta get a new tandem next season) and visually not much different than 16.

My only issue last night was the camera kept putting me coming from the top to bottom in most of the games making the controls reversed to shoot or win faceoffs. Hopefully I got it set up properly for tonight.

Turns out that I have a couple unused codes for the Xbox One if anyone is interested.

Sudz, thanks again. I didn't actually use the code you sent me (received one in an email), so that's free and clear for anyone as well.

Saw that same thing we saw last night in a game on wednesday with Diablo. Same player scored four goals from exact same spot the same way. So that is a definite flaw that is already being exposed.

Vader you did a hell of a job considering that nasty handicap. I would have scored three the other way.

I think there are improvements but I need another 100 games before I can say that is improved overall. 8)
