Re: FIFA 15
Picked up a PS4 copy at lunch. I wish Best Buy would sell digital downloads for these next gen systems. Only reason I got the retail version was because I had $15 in certificates. But I'm definitely in the download camp as moving between games is seamless.
Can't wait to play some FIFA tonight. The demo was fantastic.

The actual game is much much better than the demo. Game is sweet no doubt and the fun factor is off the charts.sportdan30 wrote:Picked up a PS4 copy at lunch. Re: FIFA 15
You're not making the wait any easier! Still have a few hours to go and have something going on this evening.
Question for all you soccer or futbol officianados. The only mode I've ever played is Play Now. It's probably because I don't understand a lot of the game outside the pitch. Plus, I don't necessarily have a team I follow.
With that said, can I simply play a season or am I missing out on the strategy and enjoyment of the off the field stuff? Briefly, where do I begin?
This past weekend, I found myself watching Liverpool playing somebody on NBC while there were some good college football games on. The game is really growing on me.

Anyone playing on the PC?
Looks like it's possible to use the DS4 on the PC. Will have to try it on the demo.
Though I have Madden sitting unopened too.

Re: FIFA 15
I still bought NHL 15, but honestly, this is exactly what I thought while playing the early access and then some more late last night. It's the difference between a finished and a half-finsihed game.tjung0831 wrote:FIFA 15 is great....I'm not going to miss playing NHL at all this year.

I'm all for digital downloads and have done it for many new games, but note that I traded FIFA 14 in to Best Buy for $24 a month ago. I'm sure the trade in price reflects their own lack of agility in keeping up with their competitors' prices, but I'm not above taking advantage of it. This is one game that may be worth buying on disc because it does seem to hold trade in value for a long time.sportdan30 wrote:Picked up a PS4 copy at lunch. Re: FIFA 15
You have a couple of options. You can start a career as a manager or player. Manager if you want to go through the full experience with transfers and hiring scouts...etc. It's time consuming but it is a great mode if you are a big soccer fan. Those were the only options last year. They also have the tournaments back in the game this year. So yes, you can just pick a league and a team and play a normal season without worrying about the managerial stuff.sportdan30 wrote:You're not making the wait any easier! Well, I just pulled the trigger on the Ultimate Team Edition. You get 40 Gold Packs?? Seems like a lot. With the EA Access discount it was essentially what the standard edition would've cost! I'm a rook but if you guys play any club games I'd love to try it. You might have to direct me around a bit (due to my novice soccer knowledge) but I'm willing to listen.

I was going to pick it up on the way home but decided to think about it a while longer. I agree I have issues.

Re: FIFA 15
Good stuff. Now the way it works I think is that every weekend EA will throw at you a couple of Gold packs. You can build a Premier team, or Bundesliga or go all Brazillian. The key thing is to get good chemistry among your players, so when you go shopping it does help that the player you are looking for, plays in the same league or matches the nationality of some players that you already own. FUT is addictive, there's offline and online tournaments and of course there's the season mode where everyone starts from division 10 and tries to get four wins to advance to the next division.Diablo25 wrote:Well, I just pulled the trigger on the Ultimate Team Edition. Having some knowledge of the beautiful game of course helps so you know which skilled player you aim for other than the usual Messi's, Ronaldo's and Robben's.
Re: FIFA 15
Diablo, what I suggest is to play one of the offline tournaments when you go on FUT mode and play the one on amateur or semi pro level just to get your feet wet. Beginner maybe too easy for you. And by the way you can build a bronze or silver team as well other than the golden packages that you will be getting.
Re: FIFA 15
I played the Starter cup and won it. I'm getting a decent feel for the controls. I've played about 10 matches so far and I'm starting to get comfortable. I seem to be able to compete are Semi Pro level fairly well. I'll see how it goes. My FUT team is decent. A lot of gold players but no studs. I got Messi on a 5 game contract when I bought the game but I haven't used him yet....don't want to waste him while I suck. I'll work on the chemistry.10spro wrote:Diablo, what I suggest is to play one of the offline tournaments when you go on FUT mode and play the one on amateur or semi pro level just to get your feet wet. BTW, what exactly to I get with the Ultimate Team version of the game?

Well you get the $40 worth of gold packs, the adidas All star team, some boot or ball special, a bunch of new celebrations and of course Messi on loan.Diablo25 wrote:I played the Starter cup and won it. Re: FIFA 15
I have a question about the FUT interface. In Madden's MUT mode, when you open a new pack of cards, you can compare the new cards to the players at that position on your roster. Makes it very easy to see if its a card worth keeping or not. I couldn't find this in FUT and just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing anything.
Also, it seems that to add a player from your club to your starting 11/bench, you have to first move a player down to the club to make room. Is that the case? I can't believe there's no "replace" function. It just seems klunky. So for now I am just hoarding all my new cards to the club and letting the CPU create the best squad from my available pile.
Any tips would be appreciated. I want to enjoy FUT, but it's a bit of a mess to figure out...

Re: FIFA 15
They did an absolute fantastic job with the pitch this year. The slight degredation over the course of a match, the grass patterns, etc...all look better than any other grass field I've ever seen. What an improvement over last year. The physics have also been tweaked a bit for the collisions. After only playing a few hours...I'm already hooked. This game IS next gen.

I have a feeling I have another game to add on to my "I have no time to play all the games I own" pile....... sigh.

Well after touting the new improved Goalkeeper AI, I'd hoped not to see stuff like this.dbdynsty25 wrote:They did an absolute fantastic job with the pitch this year. To be fair Rob...at least the AI was correct in coming out for the ball...dude just missed it. That sh*t happens in real life too.

There are definite AI improvements, but still some pretty janky stuff in there. The defensive AI seems to have jumped well ahead of the attacking. It's pretty difficult to get them to make runs sometimes and they've disabled the ability to dictate runs to the AI, which was one of the best things about previous versions.

Unless it's an XB1 exclusive, I've got it on the PS4. This will hold true w/ any game that comes out going forward as well.Inuyasha wrote:Which system you have it on?dbdynsty25 wrote:They did an absolute fantastic job with the pitch this year. Re: FIFA 15
100% right. I bought it last Friday and I can't stop playing. The modes both offline and online are just insane. The only problem is the POS EA Servers that keep going down. I mean they didn't think the whole world would be playing this weekend? Regardless, just an awesome game. I did a share w/ a friend who is console-less and he was really impressed. If you thought Madden 15 was a leap to next gen, this is like 5x that.dbdynsty25 wrote:They did an absolute fantastic job with the pitch this year. Re: FIFA 15
I don't understand the gushing affection for FIFA 15, from gamers and the gaming press. This game is a sidestep from FIFA 14, not an advance on the pitch.
FIFA 15 definitely tilts the scales more toward offense, which is not good if you want simulation soccer. Tackling effectiveness is toned down, and offensive players can sprint past defenders with ease. The CPU dancing and pinpoint passing around the box also is excessive.
Past editions of FIFA suffered from loose midfield defense and the Maginot Line, circa 1930, around the box. This phenomenon is more exacerbated than ever in FIFA 15. I can ping the ball and sprint through the midfield with relative ease, yet the defense stiffens considerably around the box.
The CPU hardly ever uses the back pass or changes field with a long pass to alter its attack. It's forward, forward, FORWARD, warp speed ahead. At least the refs call more fouls on both sides this year, which is a plus.
FIFA 15 isn't a bad game, but it's not real soccer. It's EA's idea of what the average gamer wants from soccer. Even though the graphics and keeper animations are better than FIFA 14, I still think I prefer last year's game as a single-player experience.
I look forward PES 2015 this year. That title has a real chance to supplant FIFA 15 as the single player's favorite flavor of sim football.
