Re: Dark Souls (360)
I didn't enjoy Demon's Souls nearly as much as Dark Souls, for what it's worth.

What didn't you like about it?TCrouch wrote:I didn't enjoy Demon's Souls nearly as much as Dark Souls, for what it's worth.
Re: Dark Souls (360)
It wasn't open like Dark Souls. Dark Souls has a world you can explore. In Demon's Souls, you're in a "hub" where you run up a spiral staircase and zone into little new areas that are identical every time you run through them. Then you zone back to a hub and to load back into another zone. At least in Dark Souls you're in what feels like a world. In Demon's Souls it felt like a bunch of interconnected stages separated by loading screens, and you had to make it all the way through the stage from start to finish to get back to the hub and survive/save. The bonfires and Estus Potions really help Dark Souls be more manageable and have a strategic feel to it.
Re: Dark Souls (360)
Ah OK makes sense. Demon Souls sounds a lot like Persona 3 which is also an ATLUS game. In Persona 3 you grind a tower called Tartarus and the bottom floor was the games hub.TCrouch wrote:It wasn't open like Dark Souls. Dark Souls has a world you can explore. Re: Dark Souls (360)
I was finally able to tear into this one last night and I was grinning from ear to ear. I loved Demon Souls and this one feels like a natural progression and a definite upgrade.
I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.

Yes, yes and yes.ScoopBrady wrote: I loved Demon Souls and this one feels like a natural progression and a definite upgrade.

It's kind of refreshing playing a game that punishes you for being lazy or stupid. I've gotten tired of games that just let you take multiple hits with little to no consequences. Like everyone has mentioned in this game even the easiest enemy is lethal if you're not careful.
The last game I can remember to make you pay for dumbness was the first Rainbow Six on the Dreamcast. One shot and you were dead.

Re: Dark Souls (360)
Now i'm stressing because in order to progress I have to kill this monster dude with two horns on his head. The dude took a couple of swings even with me blocking and it was back at the bonfire.
It was a b*tch collecting all my stuff. In the process of going after my stuff I got jumped on the way to my stuff and had to start over, finally I succeeded. Now i'm kind of grinding a bit so as to face the two horn dude with a little bit more strength. Terry is right if your in human form your chances of getting good stuff increases.

Re: Dark Souls (360)
The number on the top left is the modifier for finding stuff. 0 to 1 for example changes your discovery rate from 100 to 120...1 to 2 changes it from 120 to 125.
I have my own problems. I got to the top of Sens fortress and the freaking Iron Golem just keeps killing me or knocking me off the platform. Bastard.

Re: Dark Souls (360)
Thanks for the info. I think you know the area i'm in. It's basically a giant castle in Lordran. I haven't gone to the top either where i'm being baited as I know an even harder ass kicking awaits.XXXIV wrote:The number on the top left is the modifier for finding stuff. 0 to 1 for example changes your discovery rate from 100 to 120...1 to 2 changes it from 120 to 125.

Re: Dark Souls (360)
Can someone explain why there were no souls for me to recover where I died?
Here's the scenerio: In Lordran by the dude next to the bonfire there are some stairs that lead down to an area you ride a platform to get down to the level. Pretty much easy kill as every demon is wailing against a wall.
Then as you proceed forward you come to a wooden bridge. I got assaulted by two demon ghost b*tches with meat hooks and in human form I died there. So I went back and got my souls back. I tried to fight those two again in hollow form. No luck died again.
I went back to that same area and there were no souls to recover. Is this on purpose or a glitch?
EDIT: New Londo Ruins is the area i'm referring to.

Re: Dark Souls (360)
If you dont recover your souls before you die again, those souls are gone forever. Your latest death becomes your green stain..You dont belong in New Londo yet. Go to the undead Burg first then the Parish second.Rodster wrote:Can someone explain why there were no souls for me to recover where I died?

Re: Dark Souls (360)
OK thanks for the explanation. I died from a platform before I recovered those souls, that explains it. I kinda got lost as I first went to the undead burg then through the white light to the castle. The Parrish is what i'm missing.
EDIT: 1 thing I quickly discovered in this game. There's no such thing as "PAUSE"

Re: Dark Souls (360)
I think that top number refers to humanity. It was double zero for a long time until I found a humanity gift then it changed to 1.XXXIV wrote:The number on the top left is the modifier for finding stuff. 0 to 1 for example changes your discovery rate from 100 to 120...1 to 2 changes it from 120 to 125.

This game is so badass and addicting all at the same time. I've probably spent 20 hours on this game. I have a question, in the undead burg I killed the merchant. Is there anywhere else I can sell my stuff?
Re: Dark Souls (360)
You cannot sell stuff as far as I know. You could NOT in Demons Souls and I have yet to find a buyer in Dark Souls.Rodster wrote:I think that top number refers to humanity. Too bad you killed that guy. He sells arrows, some armor and a key( if you dont have the master key) you might or might not find use for early on in the game.
Re: Dark Souls (360)
Crap and I could have used some arrows and a master key would have been nice.
Do I need to start over?!

Re: Dark Souls (360)
If you want. I dont know exactly how far you are without coming over but I doubt its too far.Rodster wrote:Crap and I could have used some arrows and a master key would have been nice.

I didnt take the master key as a gift either when I started so Ive been locked out a few doors but there is a key someplace for every lock the master key opens.
I killed the pyromancy trainer pretty early on in the game by accident. Do not swing to free him out of his barrel. ROLL.
Re: Dark Souls (360)
Right now i'm at level 18 and going to the Parrish to face the Boss for and inevitable ass kicking followed by a quick trip to the bonfire.
Re: Dark Souls (360)
I think Im nearing the end or maybe not. Killed the tag team bosses in Anor Londo and opened the flood gates down in New Londo.
As painful as it can sometimes be, I love progressing through this baby. Something new and or weird around every scary corner.
A revelation for me and a tip for you. Buy a bottomless box for your extra stuff. Do not throw out your old junk. It might be useful later.
I really love how they built on what they had with Demon's Souls. They kept all the good stuff and made it better.
Waiting on Skyrm to decide if this puppy, it or Forza 4 will be my game of the year.

Demon Souls arrived, double the pleasure, double the ass kicking.

Re: Dark Souls (360)
I started Demon's Souls, luv it !
OK for those who have played it are you supposed to die during the tutorial? I was moving along till I came to the Vanguard Demon. I got wedged between two pillars and IT decided to beat the living hell out of me, couldn't do a thing.
After that was a cutscene with some spirit and found myself at the Nexus hub.

I dont know about killing it but yes you are supposed to die. What better way to introduce you to the game than killing you?ScoopBrady wrote:I think there is a way to kill that but you are supposed to die there.
