This is the first video game hardware purchase in my household that isn't being driven by 'Dad.'

My kids are dying for this thing.

Vgchartz is reporting first week sales of 479,000 for Kinect Adventures. Not great but not at all shabby, either.

My 1st, 2nd and 3rd period just completed the sculpting sessions on Your shape: FE.

Wow, what a terrific workout.

One of my students was on the camera and I had 6 rows of 7 mats behind for everyone else to follow along.

We didn't even add the dumbells yet (can't wait) and it was fantastic!

I did a short paper quiz afterward and many of my students were able to identify 4 of the exercises by name such as "sumo squat" "z-step" etc.

After we were done, my colleague stepped into the room with her 7th grade classes and they played Dance Central for 10 minutes....and she had to tear them away to send them back to the locker room.

I can't wait for Zumba Fitness next week.....The Kinect is AWESOME!

If I read that right 3 of the top 4 games sold last week were Kinect games and 4 out of the top 10. Not bad and from what I understand it was hard to get in some places.

That's right. It has a wireless heart rate monitor (and resistance bands) that displays on the screen while working out. Personally, I already have one & would prefer to buy just game. I'm likely to buy this over Your Shape mainly due to 2 people being able to WO at the same time. I don't think your shape can do this.

Here's the official trailer. Looks awesome:

I agree those numbers are actually impressive for first week sales.

Piggy, I was looking at getting Your Shape FE for the Kinect but wasn't sure if the workouts would be worth it. So they are legit?

It is legit for what I need out of it.

Depending on what kind of shape you are in, I feel it delivers a great workout.

If you use 5 lb dumbbells with it.....it can kick your ass. Great variety as well. Sculpting, toning, men's health sleeve busting workouts, some famous workout chick's kick ass cardio, etc.....a great well rounded package.

It does not have floor exercises (push-ups, etc.) though except dumbbell shoulder presses while on the knees.

I am not sure how it will compare with EA's offering and I bet there will be quite a few fitness offerings on the Kinect after the sales of YPFE has gone well in the first week.

Is there a demo?

After watching the EA Active 2 link they are advertising that there is 70+ activities to exercise to.

For what it is worth, I wrote down all of the different exercises for Your Shape in the sculpting section...and so far I was at 26.

I imagine that between Zen, Cardio Boxing, toning, weights, etc. etc. etc. and Your Shape is well between 100 and 200 different types of exercises.

BTW....wow...that girl was pleasant to look at :)

I'm just looking for a good cardio workout. I'm getting too old for hardcore weight training. There is a demo of it on the Kinect Adventures disc but it is very limited. I might give it a go. EA's Offering looks good too. Thanks for the info.

I can tell you that EA Sports Active 1 was a good workout, I actually used this to prepare myself for P90X. Now I am on a P90x / Insanity Hybrid (2nd round) but I plan on getting EASA 2 to use as a maintenance program once I am done with this 2nd bout of P90X.

I did try the Your shape and it is good as well. It really depends what your goals are, both of these programs are good maintenance programs and if done right will knock off some pounds. However I would never expect the results that your going to get from a real program. Scoop as a recent grad of Insanity can tell you that if you want to get fit and lose weight you need a hard core program. It's possible from what i have seen EASA 2 might be closer to something like that.

Yup, I also used EA Sports Active 1 to get myself ready to do Insanity. I ended up losing more weight using EA Sports Active but that's only because I got down to just about my ideal weight with EASA and gained muscle doing Insanity.

A lot of people look at Your Shape or EASA 1 or 2 and think they're bad just because they're videogames. They are not games, they are fitness programs using a videogame console. Something like Wii Fit might be able to burn some calories but it's no way to actually get in shape. Your Shape and EASA can get you in better shape. I liked something like that because not wanting to spring for a gym membership and not knowing where to start on my own EASA provided me with a cpu personal trainer. There is a demo for Your Shape on the Kinect Adventures disc. It doesn't let you do much but it does at least offer a glimpse of what to expect. It was actually pretty cool but at the moment I'm maintaining with random Insanity workouts before I start round 2 after the holidays.

And to add to what Dan said, if you stick with it you will likely seek something a little more intense after a while and probably end up seeking out a P90X or Insanity type workout. I got in shape with EASA but I got in the best shape of my life with Insanity. I'd be curious to hear some impressions of the full version of Your Shape or EASA 2 when that comes out. Something I think that is very cool is the internet integration for both programs that really breaks down numbers. Why don't they make a Beachbody game for Kinect? I would totally buy Insanity Kinect or P90X Kinect.

Never open the John Daly game for the move so I was going to trade it for Active 2. But the dude at EB mentioned also that an EA Tennis game was coming out early December, to which of course I took the bait. I hope is the much anticipated Grand Slam game that worked well for the Wii but is yet to make it for the other consoles.

Didn't try the first Active game but I am planning to get Active 2 for sure.

That's the game that would make me buy a Kinect. :)

I too am planning on purchasing EA Sports Active 2. I can't get to the gym after work anymore as I have to most always be home for the kids. And after dinner, I'm too lazy to get in my car and drive to the gym, especially with the cold weather upon us. This looks to be a solid game with a 9 week workout plan.

I'll most likely be selling Wii Fit Plus and the balance board today to put towards this game.

Pre ordered EA Sports Active 2.0 for the 360 earlier. I need something for home workouts. In about 2 weeks I'll be entering my busy time of the year. I help with the basketball team where I teach plus I coach the baseball team. Bottom line, I get up early and do my workouts before school so this bad boy should be ideal. I'm looking forward to Wednesday :)

Wal-Mart has some sort of deal for a $20 dollar credit if you purchase EA Sports Active 2. However, it might be online only. Can't say for sure.

Bingo. It was a nice try but it fell woefully short of my expectations. I really hope EA ups the ante with Tiger and the Move next year. It was obviously just an add on this year...and EA did a nice job with it. I don't know if it is possible for Kinect to be implemented into Tiger but that would be cool if possible. I heard that eventually the Kinect will use peripherals.

I'd say it's only a matter of time before Beachbody/Tony Horton liscense a game for kinect.

I pre-ordered EA off amazon as I had $20 pre-order credit to burn. I also did p90x, then insanity (now I kind of do a mix of both). Sports Active 2 is perfect for days when I don't feel like doing either.
