Hey fellas hows the menu interface this year? It's been a mess the last several years where you don't know if you have exited the game or not. Is that fixed?

Re: NBA2k11
A few more notes:
Game is tough! I am having a heck of time finding an open shot. Very rarely can I drive to the basket.
I've seen so many new animations that it feels similar but different.
Well, the PS3 is definitely lacking IMO with regards to graphics. Makes me consider picking up a 360....but probably not. Further, the high arcing lay ups are still in the game like in the demo.
Can't figure out how to turn off the play making design.
The menu interface is quicker and easier to navigate. Much better than last year IMO.
Gonna have to mess with the shooting sliders because percentages are way down.

Re: NBA2k11
I heard someone describe this game as Final Fantasy basketball, meaning there are tons of cut scenes that can't be turned off, is that correct you can't turn them off?

Doesn't appear so. You can set them to "few" but it's still annoying. But that's pretty much the only thing I don't like.Danimal wrote:I heard someone describe this game as Final Fantasy basketball, meaning there are tons of cut scenes that can't be turned off, is that correct you can't turn them off?
This game is RIDICULOUSLY good and all of the Jordan stuff is fantastic. Such a nice added bonus. Finally a company that actually puts in a mode that is worth the price all by itself. It makes the game feel totally new and not just a rehash and a roster update. Just awesome.

MUST NOT GET THIS....MUST NOT GET THIS....
This game is sounding too good...might wait a week for it as B2G1 is coming to TRU.

Re: NBA2k11
Totally agree with DB's comments so far. I'm on PS3 (bought it at KMART and got the $20 off coupon). I did the opening Jordan game and then played a couple of other games with classic teams using the default settings. They have Magic down perfectly! Then I played some random quarters/halves with current teams using Pro Simulation and 10 minute quarters. I had a blast, but I might have to go back to default as on simulation it seems like 12 minute quarters may be necessary.
Anyone that hates the in-game ads will be *highly* annoyed. There is plenty of in game "sponshorship" from Gatorade and Sprite which I don't believe you can skip and there are plenty of other ads for companies like HP. I don't think this is anything new though as I seem to recall these from last year.
You can minimize some of the cutscenes/player closeup shots but there are still too many. This bothers me, but the in-game save option makes up for it in my personal ledger.
I can't wait to play again tonight.

Re: NBA2k11
They need to patch the long outlet passes by the CPU for an easy two points. It happens at least a few times a game, and it's very annoying!
Also, I feel as though the offensive awareness of my players compared to the CPU is pretty drastically low. They seemingly get more open shots than I do. The defense by the CPU is a little too agreessive and makes it's difficult to get open shots. I don't like to call plays so I have the setting set to AUTO, but my players don't seem to move all that well or quickly.
I've messed with the sliders by upping my inside, medium, and three point success up a few notches. At least that has helped me stay fairly competitive with the CPU.
Game is very good, but I believe there are things that need to be fixed.
Leebo, are you happy with the graphics on the PS3? I made a comment about it in an earlier post, and when I went back to play later in the evening, it didn't seem as bad as I first indicated.

I'm probably not going to be able to pick this up until the weekend -- has anybody tried My Player yet? That mode got a ton of time from me last year.

Curious to hear how everyone feels about HP, Gatorade, Sprite, etc being plastered all over the place?

Re: NBA2k11
I'm really happy with the graphics on PS3, but I've only played so far on the 32 inch Sammy LCD in my bedroom so maybe that is hiding flaws that would be exposed on a bigger screen. I'll try playing in the basement this weekend.
The game is extremely challenging, but it hasn't bothered me yet. After getting beat up a bit in my first few games, I had Denver at home miss their first 12 shots against me (playing with the Thunder) and only score 12 in the first quarter. In my last half of action last night I held NJ to 43% shooting as the Sixers. Also, it's a small sample size but in a couple hours of play last night all against the CPU I did not see a long outlet pass (edit: probably saw a few attempts but did not give up any points on them).
I like "pick up and play" as much as the next guy, but I do feel that it is going to be a requirement to use some of the many tools they give you on offense to truly be effective against a smarter CPU. You can get a reasonable amount of open looks but they aren't given like in the past. You have to earn them.

Re: NBA2k11
I only had a chance to play the opening Jordan challenge last night, but loved it... flat top Pippen, young Phil Jackson... those 90's Bulls were probably the most fun I ever had watching basketball. Started out just killing it with Jordan and built a big lead, only to go ice cold in the second half and lose after Magic seemed to put the Lakers on his back. The post-game highlight package they put together for Magic was SICK. Funny how he looks like someone wearing a Magic mask compared to the fully fleshed out Jordan, but that's bound to happen.
Glad to hear about in-game saves this year... that'll help big time with longer quarters. Are the Jordan challenges locked in at 5-minute quarters? That would make some of them super tough.

They're locked in at 8 minute quarters. Still challenging for sure!

Re: NBA2k11
Early first impressions tell me the hype will most probably be justified.
The whole package from gameplay, to graphics, to commentary, to atmosphere, to even cutscenes just come together to form this relly cool NBA experience.
Another quick thought -- I think as this game gets more realistic, you may have to start manual playcalling to really get the most out of the game.
Lost in NBA today with the Bulls on 12 min quarters by the same score in real life. Thought that was a good sign.

I wonder if EA saw this game in action and thought no way are we competing against that.AJColossal wrote:Early first impressions tell me the hype will most probably be justified.

It's fixed. If you quit something, you get a prompt to continue, and then you're obviously out of that mode or game.Rodster wrote:Hey fellas hows the menu interface this year? It's been a mess the last several years where you don't know if you have exited the game or not. Is that fixed?
Re: NBA2k11
Thank you sweet Jesus. I was about to bitchslap the person who came up with the worst idea for a menu interface in the history of videogames. Now they need to do the same for MLB 2K11 and NHL 2K12. One down two to go.warnerwlf98 wrote:It's fixed. Yeah, the menu navigation is a big improvement.

The menus still suck in my opinion. They may be slightly more streamlined and easy to use, but using the stupid right joystick to pop up menus is just stupid. They need a total redesign.
Re: NBA2k11
Crap that's what I was referring too and the ability to not totally quit a game.dbdynsty25 wrote:The menus still suck in my opinion. They may be slightly more streamlined and easy to use, but using the stupid right joystick to pop up menus is just stupid. They need a total redesign.

Re: NBA2k11
Yeah, I'm not sure why everyone thinks the menus are "fixed" at all...the design is the same as it always has been for 2K games in the past 3 or 4 years. It's garbage, but they put out nice games so whatever.Rodster wrote:Crap that's what I was referring too and the ability to not totally quit a game.dbdynsty25 wrote:The menus still suck in my opinion. PS3 users, check this for me please. My PS3 is crashing when I attempt to load a save replay. Could one of you guys save a replay to your HDD and go to features and select reel maker load your replay and see if your PS3 locks up. Just want too know if its the game or the PS3
Re: NBA2k11
Wow, I was expecting more talk about this game. I guess not many here have picked it up yet? I am waiting for my gamefly copy as usual.
With the game being praised by IGN as the "second coming" I was expecting to see many more posts. Is it just too early?
