Rumour has it that by the end of Friday's game there were chants for his return....surely no one could be that desperate.

Coming soon to a theater near you:

"The epic story of a team's journey to top." No, that's not right.

"The ups and downs of a team's journey to Cup glory." No, I guess not.

I've got it!

"Follow the dramatic twists and turns as a little club from the Northwest uses only guts, guile and billions of petrodollars to get themselves to the brink of Champions League qualification." :)

On the bright side, glad to see DaveT's armpit (middle right ) making its big screen debut. LOL

That's coming out on the 'Big Screen' as well.

Don't mock, it's not every day that you get to witness the meteoric rise of a team from 10th to 5th! Should be some inspirational stuff and a lesson to smaller clubs everywhere that with hundreds of million pounds there's nothing you can't accomplish (except 4th, that requires few more million pounds but hey, we need a sequel).

A bit biased of course, but the final that never happened in the WC is today. Argentina-Spain. Minus Maradona.

That was the dumbest video on the internet. Seriously.

And no, that is not a challenge Rod...you do not need to find something dumber. :)

Four observations:

1. The kid scored on a tap-in. You would think that he scored on a bending free kick from 30 yards based on the celebration. Act like you've done it before, son.

2. If I was on the other team, I would slide-tackle that little prick with strong malice at the first chance after that celebration. Cards be damned.

3. What manager in his right mind would allow his kids to showboat like that?

4. It's gay sh*t like this that causes those who don't like or appreciate soccer to deride it. I love the beautiful game, but Christ, that celebration was gay.

I always thought Brian McBride's goal celebration was perfect:

Bah. Too showy. Try to ignore the soppy hero-worship captioning (you'll manage. I did, and I've never loved anyone quite as much as I love the star of this video), put the music on mute and tell me why a goal celebration needs to feature anything more than Eifion Williams put into his:

Worth watching anyway, that clip, on account of how some of Willo's goals were more than a little bit good.

New manager Bautista brought the old guard in D'Alessandro, Cambiasso and Zanetti. What a fortified midfield that is compared to one in the WC. Add that to the potent forwards up front, and Spain just didn't see the train wreck coming. It was a friendly alright, but Argentina and Messi's goal were sublime against the World Champs.

Leaving Cambiasso and Zanetti at home was probably Maradona's biggest mistake.

Agreed. As poor as the D was against Getmany in the WC, Zanetti is more than capable of playing multiple positions. Both were outstanding today.

Looks like your Owls have been saved from the dreaded taxman, Squid. Co-Op Bank actually paid up the £1.1m that was owed, which would lead one to suspect that there is some investment afoot.

I've only heard about the "investment afoot" for the last 3-4 years.

Well, the Co-op Bank ain't a charity - there would be little point them dropping £1m off to HMRC unless they thought there was something in it. I would also add that they are a pretty ethical bunch, as banks go.

Meanwhile, I know you lot think that I am occasionally misplaced in my rants, but not with a certain Twitcher Redknapp....and it would appear that I am not the only one. So think of me not as wrong, more like 'ahead of the curve'.

Under the FA's stated guidelines of choosing an English manager when Fabio steps down in 2012, the three front runners have been identified.

Big Fat Sam Allardyce
Harry 'Twitcher' Redknapp
Steve 'Elephant Man' Bruce

Number of trophies between them - 1 FA Cup
Number of them accused of financial irregularities by the BBC - 2
Number of them who sued the BBC - 0 (Harry's sidekick Kevin Bond got close, until his brief described the decision as 'reckless', which saw the action dropped)
Number of big clubs managed - 0
Number of them with experience of managing abroad - 0
Number of clubs they've run away from - sh*tloads

Least the Brazilian police can rest easy for 2014, if that's the likely outlook.

Christ, I'd rather have Beckham.
