Guess I'm not, either. I'm with Toon: I'd rather put my balls in a vise than watch baseball.
But you'll get wood watching cars race around a square track for three hours???
That's because race car drivers are real athletes and baseball players are not. Shame, shame you didn't know that Teal. :)

I'd prefer motorcycles on a twisty track for 45 minutes, but yeah, open-wheel cars on an oval for three hours will do it, too. At least something is happening, unlike baseball, which is a glorified game of two-man catch with a few bursts of activity here and there.

Interesting debate on whether baseball is a sport or not. I'm not interested in baseball at all but I'm pretty used to having a similar debate about table tennis. Maybe defining sport is almost as tough as defining art. Whatever you're into yourself kinda thing...

I would of agreed with you to an extent, but the new 360 Slim is comparable to the PS3 in my mind. The thing is quiet, sleek and (knock on wood) has no over heating issues.

Having replaced 3 360's and 2 PS3's though I would say from a quality stand point there is not much different. MS caught a lot of s*** which it deserved for it's crappy launch hardware but the PS3 had just as many problems and you didn't hear a lot about it, that was because no one was buying a PS3 pre-price cut.

I wouldn't be surprised in Sony wanted to be the first in the next gen with a PS4, the strategy worked for MS this generation and even with increased sales Sony is in such a hole it will never catch the 360.
I hope the 360 slim is more reliable. I traded in a number of games recently and bought myself a 360 slim. It should be here tomorrow. I am with some of you guys on the PS3 hardware. I still have my launch PS3 and it is going strong. I'm getting excited for the fall gaming season. I didn't play much this summer so hopefully the fall brings some good games. I'm really anxious to play TW11 with Sony's new Move controller. I hope it doesn't disappoint.

I never said baseball isn't a sport; it most definitely is. I just find it boring.

Definition of Sports

"A Sport is an organized, competitive, entertaining, and skillful physical activity requiring commitment and fair play, in which a winner can be defined by objective means. It is governed by a set of rules or customs. In a sport the key factors are the physical capabilities and skills of the competitor when determining the outcome (winning or losing)."

Under this definition Table Tennis most definitely can be considered a Sport. I guess you never watched Wide World of Sports "Table Tennis" on TV? :)

Lol. Don't think I have seen that program actually but I don't need much convincing about table tennis. I played competitively at a fairly mediocre level for quite a few years. On the question of "fair play" from that definition, I have to confess that I picked up two yellow cards in my final season of 2nd division TT in Spain before packing it in before it did my head in. The first was for kicking a fence surround (fair cop...not much point in denying that one and I kicked it fairly venomously at that before apologising to the ref and the other team...rush of blood to the head...). The second was for illegal coaching from the bench when a team-mate was playing (I was upset about that one because I would consider that cheating and I don't regard myself as a cheat. Had a long chat with the ref after the match but he was convinced...still irks me slightly, but what can you do?).

To get completely off topic, here's a link to some pretty spectacular TT. The guy in blue in this match is three-times world champion Wang Liqin, arguably one of the most technically proficient athletes of the last decade or so. Apart from raquet skills at all, the footwork of these two would probably embarrass quite a few professional sportspeople:

Back on topic, I think the 360 is still alive and kicking. Jeez, I still get a fair bit of use out of the PS2.

I'm no table tennis fan, but these guys aren't athletes? Are you sh*tting me?

Sorry guys, I obviously didn't express myself very well in my original post. I'm the one who is always defending the fact that table tennis is a sport, not the one who claims it isn't.

Now I'm going to settle down and watch this video. Curiously enough, apparently there was a survey done some years ago in China on the capacity of Chinese people to recognise famous Western faces and Jan Ove Waldner came second only to Bill Clinton.

Table tennis may be a sport, but that was painful to watch. I'd kick the sport out of the Olympics based on that exhibition.

Dan they could charge $89.99 and it's still better than the plop Sony calls PSN, oh and they are charging for there's too if you want to upgrade. Also that's MSRP just like the current $49.99 XBL subscription.

If one does a little digging you can find 12 XBL Gold for about half that. I bought several 12 XBL Gold subs for $19.99 and XXXIV recently picked some up for $29.99

I did...I did. Dont remember ever paying full boat. Maybe the first time in 05?

I agree about the service being an actual service as compared to whatever it is sony is doing. I have two ps3s that are used soley for blu rays as testament to that.

Exactly, I said it the last time this came up but who pays full price for XBL anyway? Regardless the crying about this is insane, a service upped it's prices and that service has evolved many times since it's inception.

MS in the same press release said they are improving their voice chat audio where it will sound really good now. They were using audio that was designed to run on their initial VC which was running @ 64k.

Just realized that I haven't participated in the 4(?) pages of this thread.

So, getting back to the original question.

Yes. The 360 is dead. Let's move along, shall we.

I haven't even got mine yet, don't say it's dead.

I just missed the great deal Dell was offering a couple of weeks ago: A 250GB Xbox 360s, Modern Warfare 2, and an Xbox Live 4,000 point card for $330. Now I'm reluctant to just hand over $300 for nothing but the console, even though I have Bayonetta waiting to be played.

I don't know what it is but I just cannot get fired up for baseball anymore.

Wow, I thought it was just me. But to tell the truth, I lost it for baseball after the World Series was canceled in '94. Back on topic, I love this generation and hope it get extended another 3 to 5 years. I just bought a 360 slim and fell in love with gaming again and can't wait until next week when NHL drops.

I had friends who were either unwilling or too cheap to pay just to play opponents online, so they opted for the PS3. As a result, so did I. I have to say both the 360 Slim and the PS3 slim are fine machines. I just happen to play the PS3 more these days.
