The Tuna has turned the keys of the team over to Jeff Ireland and Tony Sparano. He's now a consultant to the team. Honestly I he stayed far longer than I could have imagined when the team switched owners.

Except that's not true. Tuna hired Ireland to take over the team after his contract was up...which it is after 2011. He's on as an everyday consultant now until that time. Also, when Ross bought the Dolphins from Huzienga there was an out in Parcell's contract that would allow him to leave if the team was sold. So he's already stayed a year longer than I thought he would.

QFT !
In The Miami Herald there was a story where Ireland called Parcells asking how he should handle the Phillip Merling incident and The Tuna fired back, you're asking me? You tell me what we should do. Both hung up the phone and Jeff called and gave Parcells the solution. He was grooming both the guys from day one. And now he's into the last phase, call if you can't figure things out. I think both Ireland and Sparano will do just fine and wrt Tony Sparano The Herald also mentioned that Parcells never got in Sparano's business even if he questioned one or two things he's done as HC.
Some have speculated that Ross will bring Carl Peterson to replace Jeff Ireland. Again The Herald mentioned that Carl Peterson gave Jeff Ireland his start while at KC and Peterson has been complimentary of both Ireland and Sparano. I seriously doubt Peterson wants to run another team. If anything he may take Bill's spot as VP of Operations but that may not happen either if both Ireland and Sparano are successful.
Typical boring Vikings game last night. This team is in trouble. Green Bay is not only going to win the division, but many people have them neck and neck with the Cowboys and Saints as an Nfc Super Bowl contender. I told everyone who would listen that the Vikings were in trouble. When your top 2 WR catch 2 balls for 15 yards in the second HALF of a game you are losing, that pretty much says it all. I don't blame it on Favre. No one besides Schiancoe could get open. Long season. 9-7 at BEST. AP looked great, though.

Did they ever bring in Greg Camarillio into the game? I know Ed Michaels and Chris Collingsworth were taking about that during the game. Greg is a steady receiver. He should help them out if they use him.
Greg made what at the time was a big catch to convert a third down in the fourth quarter. That Drive stalled though and was the Vikings last threat as the Saints ground out the clock.
I thought it was a good game. Completely different than last years NFC champ game. This one was of the taffy pull variety.
The second half( after the Saints ditched their pass EVERY play strategy) reminded me much of my youth with the Rams and Chuck Knox. Mr. run it up the middle himself. I like boring football.
I just read this story on Ex NFL QB Ray Lucas. He's going in for neck surgery, it's pretty sad what playing in the NFL does to players and how the NFLPA does little to help them.
I don't want to diss Bills fans but the Dolphins looked anemic at best. Not a good sign when you have the Jets and Patriots in the Division. The defense had a good game, Wake had a couple of sacks and two dropped balls on D that would have been TD's but they didn't happen so i'll take the game at face value and say the Phins have work to do especially on offense.
No offense taken, Rod. I said before this season started that any Bills' fan who expected more than 5-11 should piss in a cup and get the required drug test over with.
I think even the Raiders' front office is more in tune with current football trends than the Bills' brain trust. Bills owner Ralph Wilson is still partying like it's 1989 -- back when he was 71. Twenty-one years later, he's still running the team at age 92 and making genius decisions like hiring retread Chan Gailey as his head coach and former scout Buddy Nix as his GM.
Nix completely ignored the team's myriad needs in his first draft last April and instead picked C.J. Spiller in the first round. I don't care how good Spiller looked in the preseason or what kind of player he might become. Running back was about No. 7 on the list of Bills' needs. How about a QB? How about an offensive line? How about a replacement for Aaron Schobel?
The Bills' organization is a complete mess.

Shutting down F. Gore has been key for the Hawks who are playing tough D going into the 4th quarter. SEA knew that running the ball against the Niners is almost an impossible task especially with so many fresh faces but Hasselbeck has been damn sharp and hopefully he can erase all the injury issues that affected him the past couple of years. Still, it's only week one, I have them at 8-8 overall.

didn't see much of the game. It was nice to see Earl Thomas make a play at the line of scrimmage

He was okay for a first start ever. Made a couple of nice plays. Made a few mistakes. Took the hits and got back up.
I keep playing my new main man Sam as long as he is healthy. Trial by fire baby. Im sticking with him. I think he has the balls enough where the inevitable downs wont destroy his confidence.

Man I thought he was better than OK. He didn't look rattled, looked in charge, was moving the offense. For me that's better than OK especially for his first NFL start.
Decisions like those made today by Coach Lovie would get him fired by a real NFL franchise. Instead it's tea and crumpets with Virginia on Monday morning.

Going for it on 4th and goal was the worst decision he's made, and that's saying something. I couldn't believe it.
I'll bet the rules committee takes a look at the receiver possession wording again. Even with the current wording, I don't understand how that wasn't a TD for Detroit.

I thought that ruling/rule was emabarrisng. Especially since I do remember less of a catch being ruled a good 2 point conversion by the Saints after review in last years SB. Seems like that rule is just a tool for the NFL to help them with stuff.
After getting that garbage out of the way....
Looking at the total yards and their total lack of general worthiness the Lions didnt deserve to win anyway. If it wasnt for some very sloppy play by Cutler and Forte on a couple of plays the game would have been a blowout.
Lovie. Honey. Take the FG or at the very least put in a back with better abilty in short yardage.

He was a helluva lot better than Chad Henne.
How many times do we have to discuss this jinxing thing?
He was OK. The Rams lost and they deserved to lose. I am glad to see that they competed. I will be glad if they win four of five games this year as that will be a vast improvement. I have a four year plan with the return to postseason in year three.
