Start over, I know it sucks because it seems like a long haul. But P90X isn't a one and done program IMO. I had the flu for a week and decided to start over, so I am technically on week 2 of the re-do instead of week 7.
I'll admit it was tough for me to get motivated that first day, but I just keep stepping on the scale and looking in the mirror, seeing results is always a motivator.

I just finished week 4 & love it. Some of the stuff I can do now (esp Yoga) is truly surprising. I've probably lost a little weight but nothing too crazy. I was 214lbs (6'1) when I started, but I've kept myself off the scale on purpose. I don't want to get hung up on the weight part.
The bottom line (so far) is I feel great & look forward to the workout everyday. I've even become a fan working out before "work". Getting up at 6am to hit it is something I would have never imagined (esp that i'm looking forward to it).
Other side benefit: I've had significant insomnia issues over the last 18 months. Tried everything from cutting caffeine to ambien to drinking less to drinking more
- nothing really worked. I've had some of the best, uninterrupted, sleep of my life over the last month. That's worth the price of admission for me right there...

Just thought I would brag.
I'm going into my final phase of the program, plus 3 weeks (started with Lean wasn't what i wanted, restarted with Classic) and I have lost almost 35 lbs and haven't looked this good since High School.
I wasn't sure how well this program would deliver, especially since I can't be as strict with the diet as they want (I just started eating healthy, gave up soda) but every time I hear someone go "Wow" or "You look great" it makes it worth while.
I'm looking forward to finishing round 1, taking 2 weeks and then jumping into a Doubles Program. I can't recall who exactly in this thread pushed me over the edge to try this, but whomever it was THANK YOU

Cool! Good for you. I'm into week 8. I've lost some weight, but I won't dare step on the scale. I'm too scared to be let down or something ("that's all???"). Feel great, pants are 'looser', etc.. I didn't have much to lose , but I was def "gooey" in the mid section.

Well I never got around to ordering this. I probably end up burning 1000-2000 calories a night at work, so I have no energy for this. I am still intrigued by it. From what I've been told by my buddy who did it, the yoga part really kicks your ass. He said he felt ridiculous doing the moves, but that it's great after you get used to it. It's cool so many guys on here have utilized this program. I still struggle with my diet, but I burn enough calories that I don't gain weight. I am just in limbo basically. Is this stuff too hard for a FAT person? I know someone desperate to lose weight, but I don't wanna suggest this program if there's no chance he can complete it.

Re: p90x workout plan
I just started doing these workouts (not really doing them as they are intended on a 'plan' but mixing these in with my gym workouts for when I want to get exercise at home).
I bought a set of resistance bands and I am not sure how I feel about them.
How many of you are using bands vs. using dumbbells? I am almost tempted to go drop $300 for the Bowflex SelectTechs.
Thoughts...?

Re: p90x workout plan
What did you end up doing in terms of bands/dumbbells? I'm contemplating the Bowflex adjustables as well, but am considering the bands partly due to to cost and partly due to the fact that I'm not looking to gain major mass - just trying to get in great overall shape and look slim but muscular. I'm in pretty decent shape now - I've always been trim, but just lacking upper body muscle/toning. 6'1" 180.Spooky wrote:I just started doing these workouts (not really doing them as they are intended on a 'plan' but mixing these in with my gym workouts for when I want to get exercise at home).

Also wondering if doing the routine side by side with wife would be too awkward in terms of pacing/use of equipment, etc...
Thanks!
Re: p90x workout plan
Hey - well - since having a kid last year my workouts have become much less frequent and I usually just hit up the Y when I do work out now. But I ended up sticking with the bands when I do P90X. Never went for the adjustable dumbbells.
Just know that mass comes from heavier weights so even if you went with the bow flex stuff you won't gain mass unless you really went high with the weight. (which is probably not realistic to even accomplish with the P90X workouts).
And as far as the routines with the wife, we did most of our workouts together and we were totally fine, but we had a fairly decent sized space to do them in.

Just an FYI if you guys didn't know...P90X3 is coming out soon (may be out already). Their thing this time is shorter 30 minute workouts.

Re: p90x workout plan
I'm on week 3 of P90X3 so I'm pretty sure it is out.
I like it a lot, different workouts and a lot less time. I can even stomach the Yoga at 30 minutes. There is an MMX workout and CV3 which is basically a cardio workout while holding a weight. Good stuff so far.

Re: p90x workout plan
Thanks for the feedback guys.
The P90X3 actually sounds pretty perfect. The thought of finding 30 minutes vs 60 in a house with two young kids is a lot less daunting.
I figure that my wife and I spend around $1500 a year on gyms/yoga/spin classes etc., so even if we end up buying the P90X3 and then the P90X afterwards/along with the Bowflex adjustable weights, we'll be saving a great deal of cash over the long run.

You'll need some equipment for P90X or P90X3.fanatic wrote:Thanks for the feedback guys.

- A chin up bar or resistance bands. I strongly suggest the bar over the bands for better results,
- Dumbbell type weights and I would make sure to have something as light as 5lbs and then up to at least 25 pounds.
- A Yoga Mat
If anything else comes up in P90X3 I'll post but that is what I had for P90X and now 3 as well. I promise if you stick with it and do the workouts and diet you will get results. It is impossible not to.
