Like db, I'm also in agreement with ya - didn't care too much for the change in tone at all but the rest of the game is so good I could overlook it. I'm not such a fan of that genre either.LAking wrote:I finished the game last week. I enjoyed it, however I didn't like where the story and game play went at a certain point toward the end. I won't give away any spoilers but at a certain point the game changes it's tone as a new "element" is introduced. It was such a video game cliche. For a little while it felt like a completely different genre. To make matters worse, i've never been a fan of that kind of genre.
Still, overall it was a fun game.

I think I mentioned this in another forum.LAking wrote:I finished the game last week. I enjoyed it, however I didn't like where the story and game play went at a certain point toward the end. I didn't care too much about the turn it took at that time. But it still is one of the best games out there by far.
I tried the demo out over the weekend and was pretty impressed. I will have to pick this up after I finish Mass Effect.
One question: I saw the mention of getting "treasures." Are there secrets you get like you would in Tomb Raider? Little hidden areas you can discover as a bonus? My wife loves that aspect of TR.

I finished this just before getting The Show. Really terrific game. Not incredibly original, but it did a nice job of incorporating elements of Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, and the cover mechanics from Gears of War. The art direction was some of the best I've ever seen. I kept stopping and looking around. The submarine part in particular just floored me -- incredible graphics and a lifelike sense of scale. I loved that quite a bit of the game took place in bright outdoor surroundings.
Even at 12 hours of play, it was worth the price of admission. Hope they keep the franchise going.

For those who have played this on the higher difficulty levels, can you let me know how they make them more difficult? I'm almost through the game on one rental period, but I'm considering a purchase instead of a re-rent depending on what the game is like if I were to play through it again on the harder levels.
If soldier-thugs just need 12 shots to down instead of 4-5, I'll probably just re-rent once.
I'd prefer smarter enemies, but how often do you get that?
If it's maybe just more of them and less health for you, I'd probably pick it up because I can see myself already enjoying replays of some of the encounters.
Thanks!
