I always liked David Pogue's writing.
Seems like everything bad the public assumed before the launch is everything bad after the launch.
ATT network blows. Keyboard is a little slow. No java or flash (you have to think that these will be updates down the road)
I don't think the keyboard is a really an iPhone killer. I think the hype for new phone buyers will wear off immediately once they get on the internet with the iPhone.
Knowing Apple, there won't be a 3G iPhone in the US for some time. Sure there will be 3G version in Europe next year. Apple likes to put out new products but I can't see a 3G version that pisses off the early adopters by the end of the year in the US.
And by choosing Cingular, they don't even have their fastest network in a bunch of cities.
I wonder how much they will be investing to get EDGE faster in the next year before the iphone is almost forced to go in the 3G network. In Colorado it wouldn't make a bit of difference. There are no 3G cities on Cingular.
Apple has to know that the slow network is going to damper the iPhone a bit. They have to have something up their sleeve. That or ATT is going to make a made push to put 3G in major markets and we'll see a 3G iPhone 8 months sometime around March.
