You must get Clubhouse Games. It's very, VERY fun with 42 different games.

Bought Brain Age, True Swing Golf and Clubhouse Games as part of the Buy Two, Get One Free Touch Generations deal this week at Best Buy. Take care,

Any updated impressions on Clubhouse games or True Swing Golf?

Does the DS Lite still do it for you?

I picked up Mario and Luigi Partners in Time on ebay this week and I'm really enjoying it. I know it's not a 2006 game, but it's probably in my top 10 of games I've played in 2006 along with the New Mario and Brain Age on DS.

I picked up True Swing golf to play in the hospital back when we just had our baby girl.

I don't really get into handhelds so I stopped playing once we got back home. However, I can state that I really enjoyed that game while I was playing it.

In fact, if you like to purchase mine make and offer via pm. It's complete and basically brand new. I played it for a total of like 3 days I think.... if that.

The DS Lite still does it for me, very much, almost three weeks into my time with it.

So far, I have purchased three games -- Clubhouse Games, Brain Age and True Swing Golf. Clubhouse Games and Brain Age are Grade-A keepers. A ton of fun at any time.

I sold True Swing Golf last week. It was pretty fun, but I decided to ditch it, for two reasons.

One, as I think Leebo said, it gets pretty easy to hit a straight shot after a while unless you're drunk or stoned. So I was shooting around par or maybe one or two strokes below par without any equipment unlocked. We're not talking Tiger Woods default easy, but it still wasn't that challenging.

Two, True Swing is a serious screen scratcher. You're moving the stylus in the same spot on every swing with a pretty forceful motion if you want any distance, especially on screen shots, and my Pelican screen protector already has some scratches in that area. I can't imagine owning this game without a screen protector.

But I'm digging Clubhouse Games and Brain Age and have played them daily. Both offer something I haven't played before on consoles and are excellent for short, fun bursts of gaming.

That's where the DS excels -- unique titles and great pick-up-and-play appeal for any length of time. I'm going to focus on buying games now that aren't available on other machines or that I haven't played before, such as Meteos and Trauma Center. I'm going to avoid shooters and racers, even Mario Kart, because I had my fill of those on every console I've played in the last 10 years.

The DS Lite is seriously different, from its dual touch screens to stylus to tiny game cartridges to funky titles. I'm going to celebrate those differences as much as I can, and they're providing me with a lot of fresh fun.

The only negative so far about the DS is that no video stores around me rent DS games, either Mom and Pop stores or major chains. That's a bit of a bummer. So you really need to do your research before buying a game. Thankfully, there's a pretty strong consensus about the top DS titles, so there's not a ton of guesswork.

Feel free to ask any questions!

Take care,
PK

Upon that tip, keep Kirby Canvas Curse in mind. It's very much an 'only on the DS' title. I've been playing it a lot recently, as it's great for brief play sessions, and provides A TON of replay value if you want to go for all the medals.

Have you used the DS Download Station feature yet? If you are brave enough to take your DS into a Target or Best Buy, you can download demos for your DS.

I borrowed a friend's DS one time to try out the Darts demo, and my wife laughed at me because it looked like I was doing some reconnaissance mission with the Lite around the Download Station.

Naples:

Thanks for the tip.

Cocks:

I have not tried the Download Station yet. I intend to try, as geeky as it may look. The demos only can be played at the Station since there's no hard drive and insignificant or no flash memory on the DS Lite, right?

Thankfully the Troll-Mart near me is open 24 hours so I can slip in under the cloak of midnight and be a geek, enjoying the demos in solitude for some decent time. :)

You can download a demo, then close the DS putting it into sleep mode. Take it back to your place, pop it open and continue to play. The demo is erased from your Lite when you turn off the power. But you can keep it on there as much as you want if you keep it in sleep mode.

I recently picked up a DS Lite with Brain Age and New Super Mario Bros.

Is Mario Kart DS any good? Does it get old after a few races? The reason I ask is because I usually like racing games like RalliSport Challenge. So I wasn't sure if Mario Kart would get old really fast.

What about Super Mario 64 DS?

I haven't tried Mario Kart DS yet because I love racing sims, and something tells me that I wouldn't be too keen on driving little karts around and tossing objects at rivals.

Sorry. But I strongly recommend Clubhouse Games and Meteos. Great, great, great! Meteos is an insanely addictive puzzle game.

Take care,
PK

Picked up Castlevania:POR for $19.99 at CC this morning. If you have the ad, and CC doesn't have the game, you can always price match it @ BB.

Thought it was worth the risk seeing that the game retails for $35.

I am having a blast with Mario Kart. My son got it for Xmas yesterday at my parents. I played it a good bit and I think its damn fun. Its pretty much like all the other Mario Kart games only its on the DS. If you enjoyed any of the Kart games (it has N64 tracks on it) I say pick it up. Its fun and I played it online last night too which was OK. It was nothing special but it was online against random people.

Mario Kart online is a mixed bag. There are a number of online gamers who know how to "snake". Basically, this means they know how to turbo boost the entire game making it literally impossible to beat them.

I'm still on the fence about Mario Kart. I never played a Mario Kart game before as I usually preferred the F-Zero type games or rally racing. We'll see.

However, PK is right about Clubhouse Games. My wife gave it to me, and it is extremely fun. I absolutely love Chinese Checkers, bowling, chess, etc. For anyone that has a DS, pick up Clubhouse Games!

Graphics-wise, is DS basically a portable N64?

A young cousin of mine got a DS Lite and Pirates of The Carribean for Christmas and I couldn't put it down for the longest while. It's a simple, but fun little 3D platformer.

I'd like to try a racer like NFS:Carbon, Ridge Racer or even Mario Kart.

I'd also like to try a golf game and even a shooter like Metroid.

I heard Madden blows chunks on it though.

There are a lot of games like that on the DS. I recommend Clubhouse Games, Brain Age and Meteos for "where the hell did that hour go?" fun.

My parents-in-law wanted to buy a DS Lite for their grandaughter for Christmas, but couldn't find one anywhere. I think they're going to try and find one this weekend.

It's funny, the Wal-Mart near me had a TON of DS Lites on the shelf earlier this month. When I was in there last week finishing Christmas shopping, they were sold out.

Then someone jumped on the P.A. and said, "Attention, Wal-Mart shoppers, we have a shipment of Nintendo DS Lite's now available in Electronics." I strolled through that department about 20 minutes later, and only a few were left.

For all the hullabaloo about the Wii and PS3 flying off shelves, the DS Lite is selling at an alarming clip. A nifty little machine. I just played some Brain Age in the dentist's office while waiting for my kids to get their teeth cleaned! :)

I had a blast playing multiplayer Clubhouse Games over Christmas. Me and my wife both had our DS with us and we had various people taking a turn using my Dad's. If I remember right, the game didn't get very good reviews, which is ridiculous, I'm not sure anyone I've introduced the game to has been able to put it down.

I quickly checked gamerankings and it averaged 82% which is pretty nice.

That score is selling Clubhouse Games very short. It's one of the truly elite titles for the DS, an absolute gem.

Feanor, thanks for looking that up; the reviwes are better than I thought. But it cracks me up that Nintendo Power gave it a 7!

PK, have you had a chance to play much Trauma Center?
