I had a blast with this game. I finished 72 hour mode and overtime, getting the 'best' endings. I didn't do any sort of power leveling, and I believe I was lvl 24 when I wrapped things up. The game was challenging, but certainly not overly so. I didn't come nearly close to rescuing everyone or even fighting all of the psychopaths, though, so that is my main goal in my second playthrough, which I started yesterday.
Infinity mode is an unfortunate waste, IMO. You can't save, and it's really a rather boring 'hardcore' mode where you get high rankings by surviving 8-10++ hours of REAL time. That sort of play simply isn't in my schedule nowadays. Actually, I don't think it ever was!
Great game, though. One of my best 360 experiences.

I think really depends on the survivor, the men tend to be more aggressive than the women, but it still depends on their "courage".
Unfortunately, I haven't had any time to save anybody for a while, been too busy chasing down the case files and trying to find enough food to stay healthy...
Strategy guide would be nice for locating helpful items like food, but if I bought one of those then I'd have to buy the game.

Yes you can give soem of them weapons. Some weapons don't really help them though, like a pistol. If you can give them a few shotguns it helps, or maybea katana. If you beat the cult leader psychopath you get a book on brainwashing that makes all the survivors braver. You don't have to babysit them as much.ScoopBrady wrote:I try and clear a path and constantly tell them to "Come here." I think I read that you can give them weapons so I'm going to try that next time I play.
I'm on the bomb collector case and i'm having truoble. I've read that there are usable trucks in the tunnels but i can't find them. I've actually collected all the bombs and killed carlito all on foot but it takes so much time and i tend to lose a lot of life. I got killed by the convicts on my way back to the security room. Where are the trucks so i can get to each bomb quick and avoid all the zombies?

I had a hard time with this one also until I decided just to travel up top in the mall. The car I grabbed outside blew up way to quick leaving me stranded in the tunnels and I could never find a working truck. Instead I grabbed myself a skateboard in the mall, jumped down the staircase, ran to the truck and grabbed the bomb, then headed back up the stairs and to the next truck through the mall by looking at the purple question mark on the map. The staircases are located by all of the trucks that have bombs. I breezed by the mission doing it that way.LAking wrote: I'm on the bomb collector case and i'm having truoble. Do you need the security key for this?btmmayor wrote:I had a hard time with this one also until I decided just to travel up top in the mall. Yeah, you would need the key for that. I beat that mission the same way, driving until the car gave out, and then grabbing all of the other bombs by dropping down from the mall levels. I wouldn't even bother with beating Carlito there. It earns you a cut scene, but takes away quite a bit of time, and the end result is the same anyway. I also don't think the working trucks appear until *after* you complete that case, but I may be wrong. I know I found them and used them later on, but didn't recall seeing them during that mission.

LOL, this game has really made an impression on the comic circuit. Most are pretty funny too.

This has been one of the most pleasant surprises I've ever had with a game. I thought that the game would be quirky fun, but I had no idea that it would offer as much depth as it did. Also one of those rare games that I can see myself playing again and again to check out what I missed.
Easily one of the better experiences I've had with a 360. Great game.

This game absolutely rocks. I'm just getting my feet wet with it. The save system does kind of suck, but the game is so much fun. I was just monkeying around last night and bowling for zombies. I also love clobbering them with the large potted plants.
I am sorry if this was asked already, but I didn't want to read through the thread and see spoilers. How do some of you balance your case file quests and side quests? Do you do the case files first, then the sides as you have time? Can you get all the survivors, or is that really a lost cause and better to pick and choose.
I'm only to 7:00 p.m. on day 1, and I think I'm going to start over as it took me a while to learn how to manage survivors and such.

The save system is kind of strange, but it ended up adding more to the game's sense of desperation than frustrating me. One particular part of the game where I had to survive on 1 bar of health and no near save point was one of the most intense gaming experiences I've had in a while, and it wouldn't be the same if I could just save anywhere I wanted.Brando70 wrote:This game absolutely rocks. I could be wrong, but I don't think it was possible to save everyone, which I think is a nice touch. I encountered situations where I had to decide between easily saving one person to attempting to save several people in more dangerous circumstances. You really do feel like you're trapped in this hopeless situation, and these kinds of decisions add to that feeling.
The game kind of forces you to start over at least once in order to level up. You really do learn a lot from experience, and the second and third times you go through, you learn what to do and what not to do.
The game is so fun, and there are so many cool things to discover that I had no problem starting over when I did. Great game.
Just focus on the case files, you're going to have some severe management issues to save more than 20 or so survivors. It'll be a lot easier to manage on a second time through. Plus you'll be a little stronger if you restart and get a few slots. A good way to get bonus points is to get people to join you and then let them do whatever, there's no real penalty for letting people die...Brando70 wrote: Do you do the case files first, then the sides as you have time? Gah! I finally got to the end of the game, only to find out that I was already past the time for The Facts case after I defeated the butcher. I believe that means I can't get to overtime mode without starting over. On top of that, after defeating the butcher, I was really depleted, and zombies just poured into the room and killed me before I could get out to a car. Because I missed The Facts, there was no chance to save, so I have to come back and kill the butcher again. I didn't think it was possible to to miss the time for a future case before you complete a case before it.
Very fun game but the save system is really, really terrible.

I keep playing this game over and over again. There are so many different ways to spend your 72 hours. Now that my Frank is leveled up (49, on the verge of 50), I can focus on weird achievements, take photos, find new survivors and psychopaths, etc... you really earn a lot of freedom after your first runthrough. Very unique game.

Apologies if this has already been mentioned, but someone found a "mission free mode" (that's more of a glitch) that allows you to do pretty much whatever you want for the three days without having to do the story missions, but still lets you rescue survivors, get some of the tougher achievements and finish with the 'B' ending. Can't wait to try it out.

Awesome game. Still my favorite for the 360. The save system was slammed by alot of people and game review sites but I thought that it really added to the tension of the game. I don't think the experience of playing Dead Rising would be the same if you could save anywhere and just go back to that save at anytime. The ability to restart the story with your leveled up character was in my opinion a great game mechanic and not the result of a broken save system.Slumberland wrote:I keep playing this game over and over again.
