Chris, when are you going to make it over to Pacific Beach Middle School so we can sit down and play on the ps2's in our Charger Champions Fitness Room?

I'll give you free feedback from someone who has coached baseball at Grossmont JC and varisty baseball at 2 schools.

Anyway, all kidding aside, welcome to DSP and I eagerly await the newest version of MLB.

Finally been playing the heck out of this demo. Went back up to Gamestop to trade a few games in for MLB The Show and asked the clerk, "Um.. do you have a demo for this game?" she said, "Whoops, sorry." :)

I'm very happy so far with what I see. I know it's rookie mode, but the computer is hitting well and I'm seeing some hit variety. I just might have to play some games on rookie mode to see if it has the same challenge I've been getting in 3 inning games.

I'm still amazed at how good commentary can be in a sports game.

Last year's version was already great even on the PSP, look forward to their narration this year.

I tried the demo yesterday at Circuit City. I liked the pitching and fielding. However, hitting concerned me as it seemed that every ball hit, especially by the AI, was of the same speed. Now- I only had a brief few minutes with the game so I was wondering if anyone could elaborate on hit type/speed.
Thanx.

C'mon a brief few minutes? :)

I've seen a good variety of hits in the demo. Haven't seen a hard nubber into the ground yet and most have been hard hit, but the demo was a "work in progress" so TIFWIW. One thing I do like is the hits down the line, didn't see many of them in MVP 2005.

Last year's game undoubtedly had the best commentary I had ever heard in a sports game. It adds so much to the feel of the game. Other companies should take notice that this is how commentary should be done in a sports game. Oddly enough, I had never heard of Matt Vascursion or whatever his name is, before. It proves you don't have to have a big name to make it work.

Matt is a super play by play guy. He was our radio guy when I was in AA with Milwaukee back in the mid 90's. Super nice guy. He is very entertaining to say the least. I think he has been doing some Olympic work for NBC. I could live without Rex Hudler though. Hope he's not too over the top.

Two things:

1. This is a DEMO
2. It's played on rookie mode with no way to adjust anything

With that being said, even though it's rookie mode, ANYONE can steal 2nd base as long as you slide head first. ANYONE... Bagwell included. :)

I tried it everytime I had a man on first and as someone said on OS, it does indeed work everytime.

This is not a "panic" or anything, just something to keep an eye on.

Wow. Thanks MizzouRah! As much as I can't wait to play this game, I can't wait to go to a game at the new Busch!

Gotta charge my PSP when I get home.

Hopefully on the PSP, the many passed ball is fixed, I remember having the CPU score many cheap runs like that.

I also recall there being a couple stadiums (Marlins and another one in particular) where it was near impossible to pick up the baseball during the day. Those of us with a PSP had to change the settings to night. I do hope that is rectified.

Tomorrow night spring training is on! Can't wait to see the Cardinals stadium in game.

Would be nice if my Gamestop called me today though. :)

Todd,

You never did get back to me in terms of when you're picking me up for the Cards home opener! Sure was nice of you to invite Tjung, Jon, and myself.

Stopped by the local mom and pop shop on the way home, lo and behold they had it. We're busy putting clothes on our cats and taking pictures (don't ask), but I'll post some impressions later tonight.

I wasn't even impressed by the videos of this game, but baseball season and baseball video games in particular have a hold on me that goes beyond conscious choice and free yearning.

You should love the MLB series then, once you get the hang of it (which doesn't take long). It's easy to tell that the game is made by guys who played or love the sport of baseball.
