I'm curious about online. Does the dynamic lighting happen online? What about dynamic weather (someone mentioned rain coming and going, and even a rain delay somewhere in here), does that go on online? Speaking of weather, how does the wind work into the game? A lot of those early videos highlighted the sillky jerseys, billowing in the wind. Does the wind shift at all during the game, or change in any way? Does it realistically affect fly balls?

And how about the general online play in terms of lag affecting pitching and hitting? Are there any weird, hidden online design problems, such as MVP's limit on accessing the lineups which would lead to you not being able to make any changes once you surpassed it?

Just waiting for some used copies of this to show up, or the gamefly price dropping, or the season to start, before I get this one. Hey, it's not like I'll have any choice for baseball games, and so far it's not quite sounding as broken as last year's game, but I'm just not ready for baseball yet. March Madness is on the way!

It wouldn't be impossible, as moving to All-Star or Legend might do something wacky like jack up all of the players' ratings or something behind the scenes. I played a couple of games on Pro on the demo, though, and I hit my share of homers there. I need to try something, though.

I played one game using heelfan's sliders, and I got 15 hits 5 hrs against Harden of the A's, good pitcher difficulty at 100, too. :( I'm sure the stats of the Yankees have a little to do with this, but I'm blasting shots with the Mientkiewicz's as well as the A-rods.

I'll play one or two more games, maybe making everything 0 on Legend, or trying the pro thing, but I'm probably done soon. It's too bad, because I find both the batting and pitching interfaces to be fun, but ultimately too easy to beat. (liitle to no user walks, lots of offense in hits and HRs)

51 HR's in 10 season games played, all at All-Star, Legend, and 'harder than legend.'

Zepp, I got mine fairly quickly from Gamefly. Yesterday morning.

Same here. And as Sportdan said, I am not seeing all of the home run robbing catches either. I've seen one homer robbed in the last 12 games or so.

Pro sliders, with some minor changes.

Hope!!!!

I just played a game on Pro, jacked pitcher effectiveness up to 100, and lowered all three CPU throw strike sliders down two notches, and left everything else at default. I won 4-1 vs Haren and the A's, with only 7 hits, my lowest in a long, long time.

Now, I still had three HRs, but the feel of the game was MUCH better than what I had been seeing recently.

Here are my missing K's! 10 combined with Wang and Farnsworth.

I really nailed some pitches in this game that I *know* would have been HRs in my other recent games, that were either doubles or outs! This includes one of those down the middle pitches on 3-0 that I would *cream* in past games. It was an OUT!

Overall the game played a little less crisply, a little more real. I saw more offline throws, more fumbled ball pickups, etc, than I had seen in a while.

One game isn't much of a sample, and I still might need to play with power and strikeouts some, but I now have some hope! I bet you player attributes are juiced at all star and above!

For those of you that aren't seeing the game that you want, I strongly suggest starting your sliders on Pro-default and making adjustments from there.

Thanks for the suggestion!!!

Excellent! I will definitly do that.. Pro at first was fine for me, except for the HR robbing catches - which I'm sure I could fix with sliders starting from the "pro" level.

That would be great if that's the case!

Looks like I am going to have to change my avatar, because I'm totally smitten with this game. Yes, it's overly flashy and not that great of a sim in some respects, but when I approach it as a baseball 'videogame' it's freakin' great.

Had a wild play earlier where Moises Alou tried to catch a ball on the run only to have it pop out of his glove, but then Beltran snapped it up before it hit the ground for the out.

Web - Is it possible that there are some other sliders that are different on Pro as compared to Legend? Because I am highly skeptical of the idea that the user players would be jacked up at the higher levels. Further, 2k sliders have been this way for a long time and from what I remember from Fat Pitcher once you go to custom sliders it doesn't matter what level you were on prior to editing them.

Well, a heck of a lot of the sliders move to different places as you go between the levels. I know because I wrote out pages in a notebook for starting levels for all of the sliders on Pro, All-Star, and Legend levels. I don't know about previous titles, but in this game, there is at least one slider -cpu pitcher change speeds- that only changes its value depending on what level you had sliders on before you started your modifications. The slider is visible but greyed out, but you can see the changes as you move from level to level, and when you go to custom sliders, it stays at the value of whatever level you were on before you started modifications. So that seems to me to be at least some proof that perhaps there is something to 'where you start' your modifications.

In any event, though, although it's been only one game, I know that according to the sliders that you can see on the various levels, I've had less offensive output on Pro with sliders slanted toward player offense than I've had at Legend level with sliders slanted toward a hopeful LACK of player offense.

I was skeptical as well, but the game played much differently, and not in ways I can explain by looking at the differences in user accessible slider ratings.

Hey, if someone in the past had told me that the side of the plate you batted from would influence your overall power in a baseball videogame, I would have been skeptical too! ;)

F*ck, I'm going back to Pro. In my last All Star level game, I think the top 4 batters of the Orioles combined to hit .800 against Liriano and I couldn't strike anyone out. Not just a few strikeouts...none. If I managed to get two strikes on them, it didn't matter how close a ball was, they weren't swinging. And if it was a strike, it was put in play.

I've been playing on pro for a few games and my only problem is that the cpu can't seem to generate much offense. Any suggestions for making the AI a tad more dangerous at the plate?

I just lost 8-0 on pro defaults! :)

The first few innings I was trying to get used to the one button pitching unlike The Show which requires you to press two buttons.

I am getting a good variety of games on pro. I still am not good at hitting so maybe that has something to do with it. Pro is still challanging to me.

Get Heelfan's Sliders

Post by JOZ »

Well whenever you guys can get on OS, I really suggest you get Heelfan's sliders. I messed around with the sliders a ton before I finally tried his. I played four games with those and it seemed perfect. All four games were great with good variety. Excellent job Heelfan.

I still prefer the classic swing ,but I can't figure out what's the power button configuration for it. At times I press the X as I play MLB 07 too, but that's not it.

After playing several exhibition games to get my feet wet, I've my first two games in my Cubs season were nice and varied. I am playing on All Star defaults with power lowered from 60 to 50 for the CPU, otherwise as is.

First game, I win 7-6 in a big offensive game with 7 combined HRs. Griffey actually went up to rob me of a HR but missed the ball.

The game I just finished was a 1-0 pitchers duel that the Reds won on a single. I gave up 10 hits, only one double, and only managed four and even a couple walks. A very fun, very intense game.

The game does need some adjustments. The CPU pitchers throw a lot of strikes, and the batters definitely swing at too many first pitches and not at enough stuff just outside the zone. There's also not nearly enough fouls.

But even on the defaults, the game is fun. Not as realistic as I like, but very entertaining. The series has made a great leap from the last two years.

After a few more exhibition games I finally started a season with the Pirates with the roster update and in the opener against Houston I had Zach Duke pitching a no hitter into the sixth inning when I gave up a hit followed by a walk and then a 3 run homer. Ended up losing 3-0 but had a chance to do something in the ninth with 2 runners on with 1 out but came up short. I had 9 strikeouts with Duke and ended up striking out 14 times myself against Houston's pitchers.

During the game the announcing crew said that Zach Duke is going to be a good starting pitcher for someone in the future. :?

I've yet to see the AI manufacture runs and I've played a lot of games. I've got my Pro slider where the game plays realistic, but the AI can't string together runs. Last 3 games game they had 11, 9 and 13 hits and zero runs were scored. I'd say after about 20 games, I have seen the AI score once when it wasn't a homerun, and if i can't find a way to change that it's a game killer for me.

I've been messing with Power and Contact plus the overall effectiveness sliders with no great results. I'm starting to think that the slider that controls hitting good pitchers is the key. But like I said they don't manufacture runs, I can increase their slider and get them scoring no problem, except all those runs come off the long ball.

Come on! Don't change your avatar. Only a Kush game would have homeruns through the Metrodome roof (yeah, I've seen it too now).

You can manually adjust cpu pitcher change speeds slider by turning off the slider that controls that AI using the gamers edge or whatever that feature is called.

I actually have started giving walks by following a few simple rules - for one, while I don't necessarily use the pitch or location the catcher calls for, it he calls for a pitch out of the strike zone, I will do that. And if the batter doesn't bite, and I get behind in the count, I will still try to hit the corners rather than chance a meatball against a good batter. And there are some teams that, sliders aside, are more patient by default. Play against the Yankees and you will most likely see higher pitch counts. There is even some announcer dialog about Bobby Abreu's patience at the plate - and he shows it by watching balls just off the corner go by.

I actually even took a walk today after falling behind 0-2. That was cool.

I am using a slightly modified version of a set of sliders on OS by TarheelFan. I really think that you have to turn baserunner speed all the way up and the arm strength (for AI and user) all the way down to avoid getting about 10 double plays a game. I also turn errors up to about 85% and still don't see that many a game.

The sliders are hard to pinpoint now mostly because we still getting used to the controls. I have been playing on pro so far and have been getting pretty good results, I dont care if it's not 100% accurate but as long as the hits/runs/k's/basic stats are in good shape i'm happy. Right now myself k's about 10 times per game(i am a swinging crazy gamer) while still avg. 3-4 runs and 10 hits per game, the AI i had to up a little since they were not producing as many hits or runs. I also need to make my pitching harder, which also helps the AI hitting. So once I master the hit stick i guess my hits will increase so its back to sliderville. The one thing with sliders is that you have to play many games to see the average effect. You might be in a slump or playing a slumping team that day.

I cant understand why people would play this game with button swinging?
If you are going to do that, you might as well play The Show. Half of the fun factor in 2K7 is swinging with the stick. Thats like playing NHL07 wit the traditional button pressing controls. If 2K7 didn't have the swing stick and it's pitching interface, it would be in the garbage and it would be The Show all the way.

Well Jack, some of us don't have the option to play The Show. I might try out the swing stick again in the near future, but using the button along with pull/opposite field inputs is much more rewarding for me right now.
