My wireless network is on 11 already. I really don't want to have to buy a usb Ethernet adapter.EZSnappin wrote:check what channel you have your wireless network on. I've read other places that it seems to only work on 1 or 11.
And when you all get your Wiis online remember to post your console codes in the sticky.
Hope you guys enjoy!
UPDATE: I needed to set my router to "g and b" instead of "g only". Now i'm up and running. Having a great time with the system already.

I went on a wee bit of a wii wenting wampage over the weekend, trying out a bunch of games for the system.
Zelda - Only played into the forest, but mainly because I had played it already at G7's place. I like it quite a bit, and I think it's pretty much the only game I've played on the Wii so far that 'feels' like it's worth $50.
Warioware - Despite being turned off by the video I posted, I still wanted to give the game a shot, and I'm glad I did. I thought it was great fun for a few hours, a sort of a manic and bizarrely Japanese 'Simon says!' But now that I've gone through and seen most of the mini and microgames, I'm feeling little to no replay desire, here. It's good for an occasional afternoon laugh, I think, but I don't feel the need to purchase it.
Wii Sports - Still great fun. The main thing it does, though, is make me want 'real,' full-featured games of baseball, golf, etc. I know they are coming, though, and I think I'll be content with this for a while.
Elebits - Again, I knew what I was getting because I had played this before, but I enjoy this title quite a bit. Yes, it feels a bit 'tech-demo-ish,' but trashing rooms and zapping the little creeps still manages to be a good time. It's also a game my four year old was able to play. (Timers off), so that was a nice plus!
Excite Truck - I really enjoyed this game! If you play it as intended -not quite a real racer, but more like a 'extreme' game like a snowboarder or wakeboarder, you can have a blast! Reminds me a lot of the Wave Race and 1080 Nintendo titles. I'm one race away from opening up the higher tier of tracks, and this would be an easy buy for me at around $30 or so.
Barnyard - Turns out my hopes for this one were met, in that it's a great game to play with my son. I have to read quite a few sections for him, but other than that, after a period of acclimation to the two-handed controls, he had a blast exploring the farm, following missions, and playing the various mini-games. Think of it as a sandbox game that you can play at your own pace. You can play for a while and follow the story, or just boot up for some shooting, racing, and other mini-games. It doesn't hurt that while it is certainly for the kids, Dad enjoyed it too. Think of it like a kiddie Zelda. I'll probably buy this one.
Tony Hawk Downhill Jam - The only one of my rentals that I thought stunk. I saw potential in what they tried to do -sort of a boardercross/road rash mix- but I thought the game had muddy graphics and horrid controls. Unless I was doing something majorly wrong, it seemed difficult to make even sweeping turns. I found it ugly to view and no fun to play.
I still want to play/rent Rayman and Trauma center. I held off from getting Rayman due to some poor reviews here, and since I have (and enjoy) TC on the DS, I have a feeling I know what I'd be getting -and liking- in Trauma Center.

That's weird Web, I just rented Excite Truck and ended up liking Tony Hawk better. Once I got the hang of the controls and stopped oversteering in TH:DJ I really started to have fun. I ended up buying it from Gamefly.
I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.

Thanks for impressions Web. I think I'm gonna make a trip to Blockbuster tonight and pick up a game or two.

The only I bought with the Wii was Madden. I only got to play a couple of quarters because the kids kept kicking mee off to play bowling or golf.
The golf and baseball games really make me want a full-featured game of each of these. Tiger 07 looks like a must buy as soon as it comes out. I read that The Bigs is coming to the Wii, but no sign of 2k7.
Madden is going to take a while to get used to, but I like it so far. I'm glad to see all the depth and features that I'm used to. I hope they make NCAA for the Wii.
I also picked up a Wavebird controller, as I will be getting some Gamecube games to tide us over until the Wii releases start rolling out. My one worry about the console is that it won't see many "serious" games like Madden and Tiger. I don't want a bunch of Mario games, with little else.

Is anyone else having to constantly futz with brightness settings between games? So far i've had to majorly tweak settings going from the Wii Menu, to Zelda, to Wii Play, to Tony Hawk, etc.
Not a big deal at all, as I usually adjust brightness for individual games anyway, but I've been going from 'can't see anything' dark to 'ah, my eyes!' light.

The game only gets better the more you play it. I almost did not pick up this game because of the poor reviews, but after playing it I made a promise to myself not to pay any attention to review scores again. I'm positive Excite Truck is not for everyone, but it is right up my alley as I am a huge fan of Wave Race, 1080 and the like. Hell I even picked up the much maligned 1080 for the Gamecube for $10 and loved it (although it was a VERY short game). Luckily with trying to get S rankings, Excite Truck has a ton of replay value for me.webdanzer wrote:

Warioware has always been a huge hit in my house and Smooth Moves is no different. Another fantastic game that had less than stellar reviews was Warioware Touched for the DS. My wife put quite a few hours into that one back when she was trying to get our son to sleep at nights.

Hey I got one, can't wait to try it tonight. I have to relay this story because I find it horrible.
So even though I am getting one probably through my wifes work, iTrackr texted me that the Target 3 miles from my work got them in 6 minutes ago. I jump in the car and jet up there, walk up to the guy and ask for a Wi.
He says they don't have them, I show him my phone and ask if this is the Streamwood Target. He says yes, I ask him nicely to check his system. He does and to his surprise they have 9 of them.
He calls receiving and they say they haven't seen them come in, but they show they were checked in but there are no initials on who did it. Puzzeled he calsl his manager over who has been standing 10 feet from us the whole time.
The manager says he has the 9 of them in his office, the guy helping me asks him if they are holding them for Sunday again. The manager says no, so he says well can I seel this guy one. The manager give a hesistant yes, and goes and gets ONE from his office.
I tell you the whole time this guy looks like my 3 year old when she knows she has done something wrong, eyes at the ground etc. I didn't have to say a word, I just stood there and the guy helped me out. But I walked out of there happy, but also knowing something was not right, and I could only think he was holding them for friends or something. I thought about calling Target corporate offices to say something, but figured it a waste of time.
Either way I finally have one, but the whole thing just rubbed me the wrong way.

My job doesn't do that, sorry if that is what you thought. Ninetendo is one of her clients. They are finding out if they can do an order for their company and will know next week. Someone at work wants it, so if she can I will still get it anyway.

My boss bought everyone 360's last year as Holiday gifts, they just didn't get here in time. So we had to all hunt them down ourselves and buy them.
We're an interactive agency, everyone here just loves to games. We have 2 360's, PS3 and a Wi hooked up, we have 5 57inch 1080P TV's through the office. It's a good way to relax.

LOL It's a new cartoon on Spike of all places. It's a modern day Samurai tale voiced by Ron Perlman and Samuel L. Jackson among others, with an awesome soundtrack by RZAwebdanzer wrote:

Wow, the News Channel is really impressive. Kind of plain, but I like how everything is catagorized. Easy to read and scroll. I can definitely see myself accessing it when I turn on the Wii.
I sure wish there was a lock on the power button to the system. Twice now in the past couple days, my soon to be 3 year old daughter must have hit the power button and turned it on. Who knows how long it was running!

Some interesting titles on there, though a noticeable lack of sports game mentions.sportdan30 wrote:IGN's 2007 most anticipated Wii games....

The ones I'm interested in:
Super Paper Mario - not usually an RPG, but I did enjoy Mario & Luigi for GBA, and this one supposedly goes heavy on platform elements.
Tiger Woods - no explanation needed
No More Heroes - hadn't heard of this one before, but sounds like it could be really good. Besides, it sounds like the point is to run around with a light-saber rip-off device, which I believe many here put at the top of their request list for a Wii game.
Metroid - hopefully will be the first really solid FPS title for Wii (Call of Duty 3 was just missing something IMO).
Mario Galaxy - who doesn't like Mario games?
Really wish there was a baseball, hockey or tennis game here though.
