The I'm with stupid award goes to...

Hey you just won the World Cup and what you said caused Zidane to act in the manner that the world can't stop talking about. Then why do you admit to saying something to Zidane. He doesn't admit to "dirty terrorist" but come on, we know he didn't ask Zizou out for a pint after the game.
Shut your mouth Materazzi you stupid twit.

Lord, it was so weird to see the referee not surrounded by screaming players after calling a penalty in the video of that West Germany-France game, Dave!
Refreshing, but seriously strange.
Take care,
PK

Thought you might say that - although in reality it has long been recognised as one of the worst challenges in WC history. If you watch it carefully, you can see the mullet-haired arsehole line up Battiston long after the ball was gone.fsquid wrote:I see nothing wrong with that, just a keeper coming for the ball. simply momentum mate. That's why he turned as to lessen the blow. He should be commended.davet010 wrote:Thought you might say that - although in reality it has long been recognised as one of the worst challenges in WC history. Are you high? Your love of all things Germany doesn't color your view, does it?fsquid wrote:simply momentum mate. That's why he turned as to lessen the blow. He should be commended.
It was preconceived momentum with a forearm shiver. Of course, if it was a French or English keeper, you'd agree.
Man, what a cheap shot. The only thing that f*ck turned was his forearm into Battiston's head.
Take care,

I do have a strong feeling that fsquid is talking with his tongue in his cheek, or 'doing a Materazzi'
Still, that W German squad of 82 was a rather unpleasant bunch.

Despite their age, I really thought that the French Team would perhaps win it all until Zidane's lack of control. Let's face it, fatigue was setting in and somehow the French boys had more air than their counterpart. And the MVP going to him, what kind of example Fifa is trying to teach the kids here with fair play? Maybe they did it out of pity, but Zizou was pretty invisible during the 1st part of the WC.
The W German teams of the 80s and including the winning team of the 90s was like the Piston teams of the 80s. They played rough and tough. Plus, I played keeper in my playing days, so I have a biased view.davet010 wrote:I do have a strong feeling that fsquid is talking with his tongue in his cheek, or 'doing a Materazzi'![]()

You know this is evident of one of the most forgettable WC. When the lasting image and moment from the tournament isn't a great goal, or a match that turns into a classic but is a headbutt in the final game.10spro wrote:Despite their age, I really thought that the French Team would perhaps win it all until Zidane's lack of control. When you have a tournament that has the 2nd lowest amount of goals scored your picks for best player is limited. You could say that if Germany got to the finals that maybe Klose or Podulski would have received the award and they had a much more complete tournament.

Cannavaro was the best player in this tournament, from the opening game to the final whistle of the final.
As others have said here, Zidane was really good for two or three games. Cannavaro was great the entire tournament. Pirlo also was excellent.
Take care,
PK
