Re: It's Hockey Night- Season 14-15
I'm tired this morning, watched the OT from my bed so missed all the "lovely" banter here. I'll be dragging today but was totally worth it to wake up my wife with the game winning yeah!
As always, Haters keep hating, Hawks keep winning.
Go Hawks!

And as always we have to face the dreaded specter of the "cumulative effect" of being outhit every game, as if this they haven't been outhit significantly in about 100% of their playoff match-ups over the last six years.Danimal wrote: As always, Haters keep hating, Hawks keep winning.

If I'm being 100% honest, I have no idea how they won that game. Forget about the shots hitting the bar, that happens. They had so many turn overs in their own end and the Ducks were faster to every puck it seemed like. I really don't think I could of made it through a 4th OT, glad I didn't need to find out.RobVarak wrote: And as always we have to face the dreaded specter of the "cumulative effect" of being outhit every game, as if this they haven't been outhit significantly in about 100% of their playoff match-ups over the last six years.

Winners just win.
Forgetting how long and late the game went it was exhausting to watch...Then getting up at 530 this morning to drive 90 minutes to this freaking place...Just staying awake is going to be tough.
I do love watching the Hawks play. Special.
Re: It's Hockey Night- Season 14-15
I was certain that they were doomed when Perry had that 1v1 chance in the slot. I've seen enough posts and crossbars hit in hockey and soccer that luck on those things doesn't even phase me anymore, but I thought Perry would bury that chance easily.Danimal wrote:If I'm being 100% honest, I have no idea how they won that game. About 30 seconds before the winner I was certain they were going to a fourth OT and that Timonen was going to need a walker on the ice.

Re: It's Hockey Night- Season 14-15
I had no idea how many Hawks fans there were on this board. Ducks win, pretty quiet. Hawks win, it's an explosion. Nutty.
Was an exciting game. The crossbar and posts were the Ducks' enemy. Was a hell of a play by Kruger to get that thing in there. Both teams still seemed to have serious juice left in them for a triple OT game. There were some obvious moments of fatigue, but they still got up and scooted when they needed to. After the opening of the game and going down 2-0, I thought the game might turn into a romp, so that was a pleasant surprise.
Sucks to stay up that late for a loss, though.

I have just been on the band wagon last five six years...Pretty easy to get caught up in it living here. Its an easy team to like.TCrouch wrote:I had no idea how many Hawks fans there were on this board. Ducks win, pretty quiet. Hawks win, it's an explosion. Nutty.
and yeah I would not be a happy boy today if the Ducks had buried any of those chances.
Just reading back..Right on Rob about the play Seabrook made.

I posted after the loss, albeit only to tweak XXXIV.TCrouch wrote:I had no idea how many Hawks fans there were on this board. Ducks win, pretty quiet. Hawks win, it's an explosion. Nutty.
I only dabble in regular season hockey and almost nothing that happens during the year is worthy of a post. It's like preseason football for me, a vague approximation of something that I love.

Most fans don't talk after a loss, just ask our resident Blues fans.TCrouch wrote:I had no idea how many Hawks fans there were on this board. Ducks win, pretty quiet. Hawks win, it's an explosion. Nutty.
I don't typically say much either way, I don't like to get into shouting matches over things I can't control the outcome of. Just seems there are a lot of annoyed fans on here that the Hawks are in the semi's again and it gets tiring.
I just got into hockey when I moved to Chicago back in 1990 so it was easy to get tickets to games back then, which you basically had to do if you wanted to see them play. That's how I became a fan. Today I can't score a ticket and even if I could can't justify spending that kind of money on one game. I have other hobbies that are expensive enough.
Personally I think this match up is the Cup finals, I hope it goes 7 and they are all like last night.

Re: It's Hockey Night- Season 14-15
Leafs fans are already planning the parade. Some twenty plus pages ago, I posted that even though EDM had the most talented team without a coach it wasn't a sure thing that Babcock would go there. He didn't. BUF threw a pretty good package at him apparently and they got more talent than the Leafs. Nope.
It appears that a very front loaded deal is what tempted him to choose TOR over everyone else, a deal that goes eight years worth more than 50 million. Yeah, money always does the talking, no matter how much talent a team may have or close affiliation you are attached to.
Good for Shanahan, but Leafs will suck still.

Encouraged by the Oilers' hiring of McLellan.
Peter Chiarelli has run the Oil for barely a month, and he already has made more smart decisions than Kevin Lowe and Craig MacTavish did in the last decade.

I'm calling a Blues and Oilers trade right around the draft next month....I can feel it.pk500 wrote:Encouraged by the Oilers' hiring of McLellan.

Good speed and tempo from both teams. What a save from the King on Killhorn to deny him the tie. Good 20 minutes.
