No. Disagree. Could have been better as I think TCU should have had a shot. NO reason for them to get snubbed. none.

The only issue is, OSU was the team most were thinking should have been left out for them. Clearly, FSU was the oddball in this group of four. They squeaked their way to an undefeated season, and were given pass to the payoffs even though it was clear there were many teams better than them.

But hey, if this were the BCS, Alabama would have just beat the snot out of FSU and we would still be taking about the awesome SEC run and how weak the Big 10 is. In that way, the playoffs worked perfectly. Just expand them to eight, give the Power 5 champs an auto bid, add three at-large, and you have an great format where we don't have to make excuses to let a team like FSU in over Baylor or TCU.

I like your idea but it doesnt have to be your format as long as its eight.

Im sure they will get there one day.

As for the SEC they were over rated this year and that is a funny sign.

My thought is that I would like as many of the spots earned without needing anyone jackhole from the NCAA's opinion on who is good or not. These jackholes would have had FSU and Alabama playing for the title. But since everything seems to be just about the Power 5 now, then I figure anyone from those five that wins their conference ought to get to play, regardless of ranking or or hemming and hawing bout which conference is tougher to win.

Hell, you know what might even be more fun? Not only do conference winners get the autobid, but if you play in a conference championship game and lose, your are out. That prevents any shenanigans that might help a conference get an extra slot, and makes those games still mean something when you have a top ranked team playing in it. You can't do that without making the Big 12 have a game, though That would be really unfair, unless the goal is to shrink the damn conferences back down to something reasonable.

The 14 team conferences are kind of a joke in how they schedule. At 10, everybody knows who the conference winner is (even if dumbs Bowlsby tries to pretend otherwise). Everybody plays everyone, and if two tie, head-to-head rules. If three tie, well, then it gets interesting.

The trick with eight is how to schedule the first round. I suspect it will have to be home games for the top four seeds. The problem the committee saw is that extending the travel to three weekends for fans will hurt attendance. If the first round is at the home school, only half the fans have to travel. The committee claimed that it would be some sort of a hardship on schools that normal have begun winterizing and closing down their stadiums by this point. I think if a playoff game is on the line, they can probably get it up and running.

I could have sworn this was the NFL thread. :P

Anyways, would love to see Fox as the Bears new head coach especially with Bowles going to the Jets.

It seemed a little late to start an NCAA football thread. I figured the talk would die down soon enough, anyway.

So, most dysfunctional franchise, Raiders or Bears?

Damn good pickup by the Jests. I wish the Dolphins had hired him instead of Philbin.

Fox would be a good catch for the Bears, though. He's been consistently competitive in Carolina and Denver. He had the benefit of having Peyton, but it still requires good coaching to have a good team play well. It's rare to have a coach with his track record available after a season where his team was a #2 seed.
