Yeah, I'm about ready to drop a pretty snide remark into the comments of this mod.

Take care,

Adam:

The latest from our little prick who did the DB9 update:

"BTW I'll release the V1.05 patch with the new sounds when the vote is 400 or more."

That's it: I'm unleashing on this guy in comments.

It's ridiculous, isn't it? He's now saying the score itself doesn't bother him as much as the voting process itself, but if it's not something that bothers him then his way of demonstrating that is peculiar at best.

I love how he's complaining that people don't understand the physics and it isn't his fault. The rating system exists not to say whether people understood what he did, but whether they liked it, and they're two completely separate things. Still, if he's happy...

He's a moron who is obsessed with the rating of his mod, plain and simple.

Nice post to that dude in the rFactor Central comments, by the way! :)

Adam:

This dick's arrogance has reached a new level. Check out his response in the comments to my question whether his FIFTH patch in less than three weeks is comprehensive or needs to be installed after all other patches.

But I think I zinged him pretty good in return ...

So does anyone know if v1.05 includes everything from the previous patches? He does act like a self indulgent d***** bag.

One of his recent comments indicated that it does take care of everything, Rod, or at least I think it did. I'm debating whether to pile into him in the comments, but I've got quite a bit to say and I do quite like being able to access rFactor Central so perhaps I'm better saving it.

rFactor Central is starting to offer convenient download links for the cars in tracks from a full install of rFactor that aren't provided with an rFactor Lite install:

rFactor lite is a confusing product and that's why I purchased the full product. I want all the cars and tracks from the full game. I guess lite is good for those who just want to race online with their select mods and cars.

I can't imagine having rFactor without the 2007 BMW Sauber. :D

What's the best racing game for the PC right now where I can use a controller on? I have the logitech one that looks like a PS2 controller.

Something that has a more forgiving physics model, such as GRID or Need For Speed.

There are guys who race rFactor with a controller, but a wheel always is faster when you're racing a game with a more sophisticated physics model like rFactor. You just can't get the same precision with any controller that you can with a decent or better wheel.

I also use the Logitech Rumblepad 2, Squid. The controller works great on games like:

1) Richard Burns Rally
2) NR2003
3) Grand Prix 4
4) rFactor
5) WTCC Race '07
6) GRID
7) Need For Speed Underground 2, Carbon, Most Wanted

What problems did you have Rodster? Maybe I can help as it was pretty smooth & easy for me. Main issue I had was that if you don't have rFactor installed to the c:\program files\rfactor directory it gives an error message as if it can't find your rFactor install and will not work. Once I pointed it to my e:\rfactor directory it installed just fine.

PS - Anyone who needs a GTL CD for install, I will be glad to ship one out for your use. I think it only needs it once. I have seen it for as cheap as $10 though and it is definitely worth it for that game, or this mod if you don't want to deal with starforce protection. Again, you don't need GTL installed, you just need the CD/DVD.

I was a Starf**k casualty. I lost a CD/RW drive and hard drive to that malware.

While the Historic and GT mod looks really nice, I guess I don't understand why you would want to emulate a game in rFactor that you already own and is required to run this mod?

In other words, if you own GTL to run this mod, why not just play GTL instead? I know it's not a straight emulation, as there are graphical and physics enhancements, but it does seem odd.

Help me understand, The Donald! :)

Code: Select all

A clean lap at Adalaide with the V8's version 1.20 shows a motec reading as high as 7248. So, that is what the MaxForceAtSteeringRack SHOULD be set to. BTW, 3 different laps produced the exact same 7248 max force at the steering arm.
The steering damper should be 11500 as well as a smoothing level of zero! The only time these should be changed is if you have a "notchy" feel or oscillation or some other abnormality in your wheel. But MOST users (literally like 99% of users) should not have to change these settings.
Always use 11500 Steering Damper

Always use 0 Smooting Level

Finally, use the console when you use a new car/track combination, and set MaxForceAtSteeringRack to whatever max setting the console indicates.

I think that's it anyway!
Im using the console view but no info appears on it, am i supposed to type something first to get the info ?

One step, one important fact:

Step: Ensure that the default FALSE is changed to TRUE next to Console Log Enabled in the RealFeel.ini file.

Fact: Once you exit rFactor, all of the data in your RealFeel console log will be erased.

I used the log the other night trying to get accurate settings for mods. It worked for some, but some mods just flat-out don't work at all with RealFeel, which is frustrating. That's one of the reasons I'm sticking with Leo's -- it works with every mod.

Its working now for some reason, but it doesnt make sense to me as all it does if the number is greater than whats in the realfeal ini is weaken the forces which is the opposite of what im trying to find and besides that after i change the steering rack max number it changes again anyway next time you run it.

Im working with the leo/realfeel mix right now but i cant stand the feeling of no forces after the peak grip level with leos.

Im almost tempted to go back to default.

Well, the main reason I was interested is that GTL's net code stinks compared to rFactor. Not that I have been able to race online lately, but I never raced GTL online much due to the crappy netcode. Also, there are way more tracks to run in rFactor than there are available for GTL. Now I can remove my GTL install entirely, since I already have all the best GTL tracks that weren't already in rFactor converted over. Consolidation is the main reason for me. I don't have time to keep up with all the mods and tracks for rFactor, GTR 2, GTL, Race07, GPL, and NR2003 anymore, let alone have time to race them.

Also didn't GTL have the blasted Starforce protection?

Jimmy:

I think you're getting that "drop off the cliff" sensation with your steering because you're driving mods besides the 2007 BMW F1 Sauber with default Leo's .ini settings.

Leo's was designed around the 2007 Sauber. Try driving that car and see if you get the same "no force" effect that you describe above. If you do, I have no other advice! If you don't, then that proves that changing the digits in the .ini file to match the suspension of the car you're driving makes a big difference.

I don't get the "no force" effect with any mod while using Leo's with default in-game FFB set to Full because I change the Leo's .ini file to match the suspension of the car.

Now, before you start bellyaching about the pain in the ass of changing digits, I have compiled a list of these suspension figures for nearly every mod that we run regularly and some that we don't. :) I'd be happy to send it to anyone who wants it!
