The Renteria error wasn't that big of a deal to me. He was trying to turn a HARD double play to end the inning and keep the deficit at one run. The Giles error to start the inning was a bigger mistake if you ask me. Giles IS definitely better than that one.
I have confidence in Smoltzie tomorrow. The Astros have ended the Braves season three years in a row now...it's time for redemption. And who is a better big game pitcher than Smoltz (I think he still has the record for most post season wins as a pitcher, if not, he's second to Pettite who won his game today but didn't get the decision).

Two seasons in a row. Finally beat Atlanta in 04 playoffs after losing to Atlanta 4-5 times prior to that. There is no "redemption" because only a miracle can get the Astros to the playoffs and that would only come if they beat the ATL, then SL loses tomorrow and a make up game in SF on Monday, then beat SL in a winner-take-all trip to a first round playoff loss.....dbdynsty25 wrote:The Astros have ended the Braves season three years in a row now...it's time for redemption.

And I read your take on Clemens. How do we know he isn't on the stuff, also? He's another one that got better with "age". So he dealt out his workout sched. Big deal. He's friggin' almost in his mid-40's and pitching better than alot of all star pitchers in their prime. I find that highly suspicious.

Is anyone suprised that Clemens name came up in the investigation? His name had been rumored for months. How he still throws in the 90s at his age shouldn't be a wonder anymore.
Sorry Roger. Hopefully, the media will smarten up and say no no no to the Hall of Fame for you. If there are those of you who feel McGwire and Bonds shouldn't be in, then surely Roger shouldn't be in either.
Pettite's name suprised me though. How many cheaters are and have played on the Yankees? Giambi, Sheffield, Clemens, Petitte. This is craziness.

So I guess that the fact that Nolan Ryan was throwing 100 MPH at age 47 means that Clemens had to be taking them to be this good at age 44? I do not believe that Nolan took steroids, he was a freak of nature. That being said, Clemens is not as good as he was 10 years or even 5 years ago. Clemens is a smarter pitcher than he was because he can't last as long as he used to and is not as overpowering as he used to be. Does that prove he was "on the juice"? Greg Maddux is nearly as old and he is not as good as he once was, but he is still effective. Why not throw his name into the mix?sportdan30 wrote:Is anyone suprised that Clemens name came up in the investigation? His name had been rumored for months. If they ever find irrefutable evidence that Clemens took steroids, then I am all over his not being in the HOF. Until I see such evidence, I am going to have to disagree with your assessment that he should not be in the HOF. Since basesball was SO lax with all of their drug testing policies, I don' believe we will ever get away from the temptation of using asterisks when discussing great players. Baseball still has a ways to go with their drug enforcement plan (HGH particularly), so it could be a generation or so before steroids and other PED's are not causing us to consider using an asterisk when talking about a certain player.

They aren't a very good football team. Mularkey calling plays needs to go...what the f*ck are they running a reverse halfback pass on the game tying two point conversion? Could have been the dumbest play call I have ever seen in my life.Theo wrote:Man, the Astros suck. How do you score 1 run off 9 hits. At least we didn't choke (sarcasm) DB, how did your Dolphins lose to the Texans?
And the way you score 1 run with 9 hits...one word...Smoltz. Big game pitcher man...

If it makes you feel better, you can call it anything you like. The odds were so stacked against the Astros it really did not matter. The way they played 90% of this season, they did not really deserve to be in the playoffs....but at least they were IN playoff contention at the end which is more than I can say for Atlanta....dbdynsty25 wrote:Redemption is sweet...and yes, it was redemption. Awww...it's okay to be bitter. I understand. But keep in mind, the Braves were in contention until about a week ago...WOW...Astros sure lasted a lot longer than them.
And BTW...if you don't think the Braves wanted to get redemption, read the post game quotes...particularly Andruw's. Here, I'll help:
"Oh, no doubt, we wanted to knock them out," said Atlanta's Andruw Jones. "We didn't want then to make the playoffs. We just wanted to go out there and hurt them.
"The last two years they've been killing us. We wanted to show them that we're still the Atlanta Braves," he said.

Only Clemens could get away with throwing a broken bat at a baserunner and face suspension not for the World Series but for a meaningless week to start the next season. Only Clemens could get away with showing up at the park for his starts and being gone for the rest of the time. What kind of respect does that show for the game? Cheater or not, I hate the f***in guy.
And why should DB care about the Dolphins? He is probably psyched about the big 14-13 win by the Canes over the Cougars yesterday. The attitude is back at the U after that big win.

Just ask the Royals about pressure...about to beat the Tigers in 12 inn. Lead your division for 4 months, just to lose it on the last dayDivotMaker wrote:Big game? What did Atlanta have riding on the outcome? Pretty easy to perform well when there is NO pressure. Taking NOTHING away from Smoltz, this was NOT a big game for Atlanta....dbdynsty25 wrote:

Bitter? About what? I wrote the Astros off (as most did) two weeks ago. Again, if it makes you feel better, be happy. The Astros did not deserve to be in the playoffs this year so it is really no skin off my @ss....dbdynsty25 wrote:Awww...it's okay to be bitter. I understand. As far as Andruw's comments, the same things were stated by the Astros the past two years as they exorcised a number of demons from all the years of elimination from the Braves so big freaking deal...glad Andruw had SOMETHING to play for today....

That's all I was saying, and for some reason you thought they didn't have anything to play for and you want to argue about that. Now it's understandable why you argue with everyone around here, you like to argue both sides. I guess that's the safe way to do it...YOU CAN'T LOSE!DivotMaker wrote:As far as Andruw's comments, the same things were stated by the Astros the past two years as they exorcised a number of demons from all the years of elimination from the Braves so big freaking deal...glad Andruw had SOMETHING to play for today....

ROFLMAO...the Braves had NOTHING tangible to play for today. It did not matter whether they won or lost, THEIR season was done. I don't see how I was arguing both sides since I don't believe they were playing for anything other than pride. You can't go to the playoffs on "pride" and playing for "pride" is a HUGE difference than playing with a trip to the playoffs or advancing int the playoffs. If you want to make this a bigger deal than that, knock yourself out....dbdynsty25 wrote: That's all I was saying, and for some reason you thought they didn't have anything to play for and you want to argue about that. Playoff Predictions ???
Well here are my predictions for the World Series :
Rematch of the '65 Series : Dodgers vs Twins
But this time, we don't have Koufax on the mound so Twins get revenge in seven.
edit : just read Andy McPhail(sp?) resigned as Cubs President. Very interesting Cubs fans, what's your take? good or bad?
