No way in heck Tottenham ends up getting relegated. The Defoe signing will help move them out of relegation position and I think they'll end up middle of the pack. Tough season for spurs fans.Macca00 wrote:

Oh no, that's per week of the year (allegedly, so in reality probably 200k per week - or about $15m per annum, give or take.
The true value of signing Kaka, even over and above the player himself, is that it gives 'Project City' the final approval for other players.
On another note, that wonderful footballer and human being Alan Shearer has questioned what City are doing, predicting that City will never win anything.
Guess he'd know all about that, wouldn't he ?

Yeah - the Championship that Jack Walker's millions bought them, as they won the title with no home grown players. He won absolutely nothing while at Newcastle.
But of course, it's only City who are ruining football.
Well, I guess that's consistent with his punditry on match of the day - a snide clueless wanker.

I adored Shearer as a player, but he's pretty dire as a commentator from the limited amount I've seen.davet010 wrote:Well, I guess that's consistent with his punditry on match of the day - a snide clueless wanker.
Take care,

You know American sports...Man City has become the Yankees. No one likes them outside of New York.davet010 wrote:Yeah - the Championship that Jack Walker's millions bought them, as they won the title with no home grown players. He won absolutely nothing while at Newcastle.

Man City has gone from lovable losers to just losers now. I guess that will change but I don't think Hughes is the right person for the job.

We will see if City will win anything in the future with homegrown players. Frankly, I think it is just a crutch for people to use when they one to downplay someone's accomplishments.davet010 wrote:Yeah - the Championship that Jack Walker's millions bought them, as they won the title with no home grown players. Well, City's youth team won the league last year and are currently unbeaten, and the current first team contains 5 home-grown products (Hart, Onouha, Richard, Ireland, SWP). Not all of those will be replaced, indeed you could make a case for Ireland at least being in the squad for the Premiership team of the year at the mo.fsquid wrote:We will see if City will win anything in the future with homegrown players. As for being loved no longer, it's interesting that it's only the management and fans of the so-called Big 4 who are whining....mainly because they are now up to their eyeballs in debt. And it isn't just City..have a look at how much Villa and Spurs have spent in the last couple of years.
And let's be fair, if anyone's fans have earnt the right to enjoy a bit of giddyness for once in a while, it's City's.

Here's something curious...
By City spending all this money on players, it might end up making the rich richer. If Kaka is bought, that's 106m (GBP) to AC Milan. f*** AC Milan might turn that around and go on a spending spree. I guess they could get a few top players or raid good players on lesser teams.
The windfall if City spend 250m or more in the next 6 months would be huge. Okay maybe I've played too much FM.

At today's exchange rate, Kaka's annual salary would equal $38,098,962.70.wco81 wrote:100 million Pounds and 500k Pounds a week?
Do the weekly salary figures reflect annualized salaries over 52 weeks or just however many weeks of the season?
That's a cool chunk of change.
If Kaka is getting that, what would Cristiano Ronaldo's agent demand in a deal renegotiation?
Take care,
PK

I did read somewhere that this is the reason that there has been so little activity in this window....so few teams have got money that people are waiting for likkle City to start the ball rolling.JRod wrote:Here's something curious...

Here's what I'd do next..
Hello Mr Abramovich, you dopy looking Russian peasant...here's £50m towards the £2 bill you have lost over the last 6 months, now give me Drogba, Bosingwa and Mikel
Hello Mr Hicks, we would have offered you £50m for Gerrard, but he's on his way to the Big House, so you can p*ss off.
Hello Mr Ferguson, when Carlos Tevez, you know, the player you loaned illegally and have yet to sign on a permanent deal, comes in, can you tell him to pop over to City's training facility for a medical ? Cheers, you drunken sot.
Hello Mr Laporte....how much for Messi, Xavi and Yaya Toure ?
Hello Mr Wenger....how about we give you £15m for Kolo Toure ? Oh, and I think that if you check the bank balance of your club which lives 'entirely within its means of TV rights and ticket sales', I think you'll find a big f**k off £300m overdraft ? What's that then, you sanctimonious French arse....
Then, I think that our owners should sign one youth player from each of the Championship teams (apart from Wolves, Brum etc) for £10m and loan them back - then see how many 'ruining football' arguments come out.

Getting better and better over here now....Sky Sports are having a phone in, and some tit has been on to argue that now we really must have a salary cap.
You guessed it, he's a Man Utd fan.
Another one of the red goons has been on asking how many hospitals, nurses etc could be bought with this obscene sum.
Answer - none, you silly red tw*t...I can't imagine an Abu Dhabi based consortium buying hospitals in the UK.
TBH it no longer matters whether we get Kaka or not, just watching the glory hunting scum squirming around as City are mentioned in connection with targets that they could never afford is worth it on its own.

Only if he comes in a direct swap for Darius Vassell. Or Jo.

Kaka's possible move to City is all on Berlusconi's hands. The Sheiks won't take a direct No for an answer from the talented Brazilian in fact, the Milan boss has allowed such meeting to take place and Kaka has publicly mentioned a few times that he was very happy to stay in Italy until 2013, when his contract expires and if there's a player who pledges loyalty and allegiance in the world of football, it's him.
But let's see reality, Berlusconi is not as rich as he was a year ago, his team missed the CL, with this current team they'll be in the top find 5 on the domestic side as the team is built around Kaka & Pato and a couple of yesteryear's stars.
How well he disguises the fact that he would do anything to keep Kaka on board and yet succumbs to the filthy riches of the Oil money from the Royal family will remain to be seen.

I think he'd be absolutely nuts not to sell. Kaka is a great player, but nowhere near worth 100m. He can furnish his entire midfield for the next 6-8 years with that money.10spro wrote:Kaka's possible move to City is all on Berlusconi's hands.
