I just could not figure out the greens. Didn't matter after I realized I wasn't touching Vader. Nice job

10spro- That's exactly why I love the game. Mimics what I think it would be to be a professional. Some days you just don't have it. Other days you are sticking everything.

Couldn't find the Mexico or Puerto Rico course in the game for this weekend so I just picked a highly rated real course that wasn't on the PGA schedule for this year. I was only planning to play two rounds the first day and finish the other two rounds over the weekend but after my second round I was in a groove with putting and approach shots so I finished them all in one sitting and ended up playing three really good rounds in row for the first time in a while.

Agreed Joz, but something seriously is happening on my end. Just wanted to play with beginners club on my third round to see if my controller was indeed faulty, I mean we are talking ‘very slow’ swings making me push most of my shots. But I resisted and continued with the Pros.

Haven’t had a perfect/perfect tempo for awhile.

Not sure how yesterday's tournament finished, but I had a 3 shot lead going to the 17th and decided to double bogey and bogey the last 2 holes. Haven't been that mad gaming in a while :D

Once again i didn't get my last round in. I need to play these all in one sitting which isn't fun or I rarely finish anymore. I just forget about it.

I have the same issue.

How do you guys feel about 2 rounds instead of 4 rounds for the weekend tournaments? :?:

I like it the way it is now actually. I mean it starts on a Thursday, ending on a Sunday. I play a round per day as I do the dailies unless I am out of town. No different.

I like the 4 round tournaments. It's hard to be consistent for 4 rounds, so I like the challenge.

For two days in a row now, I've fallen asleep before playing my DSP Society round. I've replaced a starter in my Protege that required taking half the engine compartment apart to get to it. I feel like I've been in a fight with Floyd Mayweather!

I'm for the four round tournaments, but would it work better if we stretched them out over five days, and only had two dailies? Just an idea that I thought I'd throw out there. Honestly though, I like our current 3 dailies and one weekly format as it allows me to play more of the wonderful courses we get for this game in a setting that gives the round some significance.

Last I looked our current leader only bested the actual PGA tour score by 24 strokes. 8O

My scores have gotten better once I decided to start playing this like a video game and not actual golf. Strong left to right wind of 20 mph, I'll hit a draw into it so my shot goes straight just like on the real course. 12 yard bunker shot, I'll just chip it out. LOL

Love playing this game, love the absolutely beautiful courses but if I laugh every time a dev claims this is a golf simulation.

I ordered a PhiGolf stick and that works with WGT golf whatever that game is so I'm interested to see how that plays.

This is because the Pro club set yields unrealistically high FIRs and GIRs, while only costing you 3 to 4% in distance. I know my average score is about 5 or 6 strokes higher when using Master clubs. My game is on the decline so badly here lately that the Pro clubs have become a good fit for my diminishing skills. I still occasionally pop out a good score, like yesterday in the TGC Tours CC tournament. I was in third place at -10 in round one, and then shot a two birdie, even par score in the second round, two hours later, to fall to 77th place

I've taken on this approach to a point, although I'm more likely to plan the effect of the wind into my shot, where I've got room to play it, otherwise I'll plan a fade or a draw to compensate. My most bizarre, yet effective arcade strategy is to pretend that each putt is actually 8 to 10% shorter than it is... when I do this, it cuts down significantly on my 3-putts. It also results in a lot of putts left short inside of a foot.

I googled the PhiGolf srick, as I'd never heard of it before. It looks interesting. I'll be interested in reading your thoughts on it once you get it. I can't imagine it works with WGT golf, but it's been so many years since I tried WGT that I can't remember exactly what turned me off about it.

The stick definitely works with that game as it was advertised in the kick starter.

My trackman simulator is temporary so I need to set it up and take it down in my 3rd garage and it's just been too cold this winter to use it much. I somehow haven't convinced my wife to let me build an addition on our house to set up a nice one. :D I figured for this low cost i would try that and see if it could work as a replacement. Might end up being crap but I'll try it.

TGC is a nice game to play when I don't have a ton of time and want to relax but I'd rather be working on my real game and if that stick can help that would be great.

Can I suggest something? Can we shut off the ability to preview your shots a limited amount of times a round? I feel like that is cheating when we do that.

I'd forgotten that a limited number of shot previews was part of the Pro club set package... and I went back to using Pro clubs for Society tournaments in December  So they've been off for me all this time anyway. But yeah, that's a good suggestion... I've been setting up the DSP Dailies, Monday through Wednesday, so I'll turn that shot preview option off in next week's dailies, unless there's a strong objection to it.

Have you read any reports from someone who's used it with WGT? The stroke course that comes with it looks pretty generic, but if the density of the club feels right and the swing input is properly integrated, I can see where this would work.

Do keep up posted on this... I'm very interested in it!

Well the first KS didn't have WGT integration, it was just a tool to work on your swing indoors without dropping a couple of grand. This new KS added the WGT integration. It is supposed to be shipping this month but I haven't heard of anyone getting one.

Yeah I've never used that feature at all, will turn it off also for the weekend tourneys starting next weekend.

Definitely interested in how the PhiGolf Stick WGT integration works. Keep us updated.

I found a You Tube video of the PhiGolf stick in action with WGT, and it looked and seemed to perform a lot more responsive than what I thought it would. The problem I've always had with launch simulators is the delay between the actual swing and the shot being plotted out on the screen before you. It seems like there's about a 4 to 6 second delay in all of the videos of them I've seen. My perception is that delay would take some of the immersion out of the game. There seemed to be virtually no delay in what I was seeing in this video, between the swing and the shot being played out... I'm impressed!

Here's a link to the video I saw, BTW: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkYb0p303ok

I have tried so hard to come to grips with this game and had the first two versions, and while I was not good at them either, I could sometimes shoot close to par and usually had some understanding of why I was off on something. Just have not gotten it here. I want to give it one more shot leading up to the Masters, and I have been searching and viewing some of the videos and tutorials (some from HB directly), but most are either too basic or don't really explain what is going on. Does anyone have recommendations for tutorial videos, forum posts, websites or otherwise that could help? Shooting +36 for one round while everyone else is -10 was just too embarrassing and frustrating. :) Thanks!

My scoring in this game had been on a gradual, overall decline since December, but I'll offer what I can here. First of all, playing the game with Pro clubs now offers me the same degree of challenge as Master clubs did in November, as the tempo regulation is now very tough for me with Master clubs. I might only hit perfect/perfect tempo 15 to 20% of the time with Master clubs, whereas I'm more like 80 to 85% with Pro clubs. I'm sticking to Pro clubs until I can find my tempo again and I would suggest that for anyone struggling with this game.

Secondly, always stop your backswing before you get to the mechanical stop, and stop well on the short side of hitting the mechanical stop. You can take the stick back 75% and still get what's considered a full backswing by the game. I find that when I stop short of the mechanical stop, I have a better chance of getting perfect/perfect tempo, plus my swing path tends to track much better when I do so.

Don't worry about a heavy follow through. You're more likely to introduce swingpath errors when you try to have a long follow through. Honestly, you're better off letting go of the stick once you've made contact with the ball than riding it through to the mechanical stop. I think it's a shortcoming in the game's interface that this is so, but you have to take advantage of it if it's there.

Play you're approach shots as though they are 4 to 5% shorter than the stated yardage. Most of the missed greens I see in this game are the result of the ball not stopping on the green in a way that your senses tell you they should. I see this from the majority of the ghost balls and live players I play with... too much club for an approach, and a lot of chipping, flopping and pitching back to the pin after completely traversing the green.

Hope this helps Don!
