Fire the rest of his "yes" men and give someone that has some experience (and some rings) control over everything. It needs to happen. Hell, bring Jimmy Johnson back for all I care. We need a big time, big shot head coach w/ some control to see what they can do. The first time head coaches they've tried clearly haven't worked so time to take another approach. Just don't sign Jeff Fischer!
The problem is all those YES people have Steven Ross's ear. Carl Peterson who's a friend of Ross would have been a better choice to run the FO and even he wasn't interested. And why on earth would you want "Chuckie"? He took a loaded Tony Dungy team, won the SB and ruined it afterwards. He's shown to be terrible at player personnel decisions. Besides he's reportedly making millions on ESPN MNF.

Definitely, don't rule out Chip Kelly in Miami, now that "Hoodie" said he's a great Coach. :P

As I was saying....err Greg Cote from the Miami Herald was saying re the Dolphins next HC.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"So let’s play Name the Next Coach.

I first floated the idea of Sean Payton-to-Miami on Oct. 22, ahead of the curve, assuming the still-likely possibility Payton and the Saints would part ways. He continues, as a Super Bowl-winning coach, to be the should-be favorite for Miami, but there are two complications.

One is compensation. The other is Mike Tannenbaum.

Compensation is an issue that can be overcome. Just be prepared to give up a first-round draft pick. I believe I would. Tannebaum is a higher hurdle to jump. Payton reportedly would want the kind of control over personnel that Tannebaum currently has. I doubt Miami wants another organizational restructuring, so Payton might find better options (i.e. more power) elsewhere.

That means the Dolphins better have other options, too.

Forget the Jon Gruden/Bill Cowher axis. You’re as likely to haul Jimmy Johnson in off his fishing boat. I’d very strongly consider Chip Kelly."

Typical Dolphins, they suck all year and had a shot to climb up in the Draft order with a loss and they go and beat the Patriots. They can't even lose properly. :P

Damn impressive show by the Seahawks after the first half vs ARI. The only hiccups being Haushka's missed FG and the extra point. If only they can play this dominant against the Rams.

Well...being in the stadium today was embarrassing. Easily 75% Patriot fans in a sold out stadium. The Pats didn't even try in the game so its no wonder Miami won. It's just like them to allow Miami to win to ruin their draft position...which ultimately benefits New England anyway. So yeah.

At least it was fun watching all the idiot Patriot fans and their stupid accents go home disappointed.

I think Fisher stays until the team is actually moving to LA. If I'm Kroenke, I want a new coach to open LA. I think they play one more season in St. Louis even if they are leaving. Kroenke is better off keeping Fisher for one more year.

If he fires him, it costs $7 million. If a new hire comes in and sucks, he shows up in LA with a liability instead of hope to market around. If Fisher gets the team to the playoffs, then he keeps him and has a good image of a coach to market.

I think if the team was stable and staying in St. Louis long term, he would have been fired today.

The Bucs fired Lovie Smith. I'm surprised by that because the team had more wins this year and Jameis Winston looks to be the real deal.

I was as well, but at the same time they lost four games to teams they could have beaten, and it's not like Lovie is an A-level coach. Despite his winning record in Chicago, he was always a bit of an underperformer. I think even if he got the Bucs to that 9-7/10-6 sort of team, would he take them beyond that? Winston appears to have franchise QB potential, so maybe the Glazers feel they should go for a coach who might take them beyond the Lovie level.

Got the Bears to a Superbowl, that isn't happening again anytime soon. Tampa is a s*** organization in line with the Browns. I heard they let him know by phone, really?

I always though Smith got too much blame here in Chicago, I think he is a good coach. I'm not sure what qualifies you as an A List coach, besides the hoodie who is an A lister?

Pete Carroll definitely is an A-lister.

I think many NFL teams fire coaches too quickly. It typically takes 2-3 or so years to get your staff in, players you want to draft/sign, scheme in place, etc.. Some of these NFL owners hire a head coach and want a Super Bowl in the first year.

I think coaches like Mike Tomlin, Pete Carroll, Mike McCarthy, Super Bowl winners who also get their teams to the playoffs most years. Lovie did get too much blame, but he also had too many years where the Bears should have made the playoffs and didn't. It's hard to feel like you have a great coach when he has playoff droughts that last years. Again, that's not all on Lovie, but does he seem like a coach who can consistently helm a contending team?

The way Tampa did it is hamfisted, and they will probably regret this because they are the Bucs and that's how it goes. But I can see why someone wouldn't feel like Lovie is the answer as a head coach.

Most coaches are getting at least 3 year deals, all money guaranteed.

So if they can't produce or at least show some signs of progress, the natives are going to be restless.

Lovie Smith severely under delivered in the first 2-14 season. He signed some free agents who bombed. Bucs showed a lot of progress until about a month ago and then limped to a finish.

Pettine went 7-9 and 3-13. The Browns owner is ridiculous but what reason did he have to believe the team was headed in the right direction?

Bills had a worse season under Rex than the year before he arrived. His old team had a better year after he left. So the owner tells him he better make the playoffs next year.

With the tv money, all these teams could just continue with mediocrity. But a lot of owners are new to the NFL, made fortunes in other businesses and are probably used to a lot of success. So they probably aren't as patient as others.

Maybe they'll be like Snyder and make things worse. But would it be better if they just sat back and endured 3 or 4 years of 7 wins or less?

I don't think Lovie has been in two really great situations. The Bears organization has gone downhill steadily from the top down for years. I guess we can blame the coach for Cutler's under achievement if we want, of the fact they couldn't make a play on Greenbay. Tampa's decision is puzzling because they brought him in to right the ship and for consistency. The team was improving and they started a rookie QB all season who looked like a rookie QB at times. Would he of gotten them to the playoff's? I have no idea but they should of given him another year because his players respected him and Tampa has been in disarray for a long time.

Tomlin, I'll give you that one. McCarthy not a chance, he has one of the best QB's in the game and has played in a soft division. Is anyone really scared of Greenbay? If Detroit could defend a hail mary they wouldn't even be in the playoffs. Carroll is in a great situation in my opinion so I can't make a call on him, all I know is he is a cheating f*** who let his college team bare the brunt of his misdeeds

My point was simply a majority of the time coaches get too much credit and too much blame. There is a pattern of let's promote the latest hot coordinator of college coach. Truth is sometimes a coach is just a coordinator and thats it.
