I felt for Eddie and Wolfie -- that must be a nightmare for a player.greggsand wrote:OMG, that's classic - I was literally laughing out loud.
The funniest part for me was how Diamond Dave was lapsing back and forth between 44 and 48 mHZ pitch. He sounded like a beached whale.
Still, it's no Milli Vanilla moment!

Take care,

Are opinions banned now at DSP?
Gregg said he didn't care for this VH tour. What's wrong with that? The whole purpose of this thread is to discuss all things music, likes and dislikes.
Take care,
PK

Ah, don't worry about it. I just a saw a dude playing horsey on an inflatable microphone and posted my initial reaction. Scoop probably did the same when he saw my post. It's all good....pk500 wrote:Scoop:

I called him an asshole for the comment he made just like you've called people an asshole for comments they've made countless times. I thought the comment was pretty rude so I mentioned it. That's me being an asshole right back.

I don't care if people like the music I do or not but I at least want to be respected.

It's been a long time since I called someone an asshole for mentioning an opinion -- without a personal insult tacked on, no less -- in a thread that is full of subjectivity. Music is about as subjective as it gets.ScoopBrady wrote:I called him an asshole for the comment he made just like you've called people an asshole for comments they've made countless times.
Hypothetical: If someone in this thread says they paid $10 for the new Radiohead album and I say it sucks, does that make me disrespectful? What's the difference between that and someone saying they think the VH Tour isn't the greatest thing since pull tabs on canned beer in a thread where people have said they went to a VH show?
Funny, I never read Gregg call any of you morons or fools for going. He just said he didn't see the point of the tour.
Perplexing, but on to other things ...
P.S.: The Blackhawks looked great beating Colorado tonight, man.

Take care,
PK

I have no problem with disagreement but the phrase "dumb as hell" struck me as disrespectful. Felt like "You'd have to be a moron to go see this tour." to me. There's a difference, IMO, between saying the new Radiohead album sucks (which is a given by the waypk500 wrote:Hypothetical: If someone in this thread says they paid $10 for the new Radiohead album and I say it sucks, does that make me disrespectful? Anyways, I felt like it deserved an asshole considering 2 of us had mentioned going to the show and having a good time. To clarify, I do not think greggsand is an asshole, I think what he said was assholish.

Quick, change the subject!!

Saw Ween the other night here in ChiTown. What a freakin’ mess!!!!
Ween was great, as always (what I saw of them), maybe even spectacular. They sounded amazing. Such a great performance.
BUT…
The venue was a disaster. The Aragon Ballroom “usually” is a decent place but this night was a mess. The show time was listed for 8:00pm which in my hundreds and hundreds of concerts usually means that band goes on about 8:30pm or so. So we get there and park at about 7:55pm and the line into the Aragon is about a mile long (going down the street and around the corner). Huh!?!? So we wait.
The line starts moving a bit and then for some strange reason dips into a dead end alley and goes ALL the way to the back and then back out right back to the street!?!?! WTF??? It appears they were only letting people into ONE DOOR. Unbelievable. Bottom line is that we did not get into the venue until 8:55pm and the band was already playing. I have no idea how much we missed but I figured it was probably one or two songs. Nope…The setlist the next day reveals that we missed 14 songs!!! 14!!!! Thanks Aragon!
Oh…and the crowd was the most annoying, immature gathering I have seen in a long time. That didn’t help.
Bummer.

I'm not really a fan of Robert Plant or Allison Krauss (sp?), but I really do like their new album together. If anyone's a fan of this kind've music, I'd also like to take the opportunity again to highly recommend last year's similar (and IMO superior) cd from Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan. Both of these albums are perfect for long drives.
Serj Tankian's solo CD was released yesterday. They have been playing a song here on the radio and it sounds pretty good. Will have to check it out as I have become a SOAD fan.
I have gone mainstream with my last few purchases with Foo Fighters and Kid Rock. Both are below average in my opinion. Each have a few decent tracks but nothing that is wanting me to play it over and over. Kid Rock has a heavy country influence on this CD. And, as PK stated earlier, Foo sounds the same as their last few albums.

Boys:
As some of you know, especially Spooky, Paw was my favorite band of the grunge era in the mid-90s. Paw, from Lawrence, Kan., had some national traction through its deal with A&M and its single, "Jessie," which got a lot of MTV and "Headbangers' Ball" play.
But the band faded away by the late 90s, which was a shame because these guys ROCKED hard.
I discovered tonight that former Paw guitarist Grant Fitch formed a band last year in Lawrence called New Franklin Panthers, and it just finished its first album and is looking for a label. The band has posted four instrumental demos on its MySpace page, and they rip. Really crunchy, sludgy, turn the amps to 11 guitar by Fitch. Number Three especially rocks.
Check it out:

I can't wait until this album gets picked up by a label. Hell, I'll even buy it!
Take care,
PK

I'm a huge SOAD fan and I'm really digging Serj's solo CD. It is very reminiscent of SOAD, almost like a SOAD lite.Pete wrote:Serj Tankian's solo CD was released yesterday. I haven't checked out the new Kid Rock yet but I have to totally disagree with you and pk about the new Foo. I've felt that the last couple of Foo Fighters albums were well below their usual excellence and was pleased to see a return to form with this new one. It's what I was hoping from them with that last double album. To each his own I guess but I find the new Foo to be excellent.
I know nobody posting regularly in this thread will care but hopefully there's some head-banging music thread lurkers out there that will appreciate this recommendation: Exodus - The Atrocity Exhibition... Exhibit A. This is the second album with new lead singer Rob Dukes. If you haven't heard Shovel Headed Kill Machine or The Atrocity Exhibition and you like Bay Area metal you don't know what you're missing.

I agree about Serj's CD. Good stuff. I will have to give Foo Fighters more of a listen as I have always enjoyed their music. Maybe I was too hasty.ScoopBrady wrote:I'm a huge SOAD fan and I'm really digging Serj's solo CD. Glad you're enjoying it, Spooky. I'm really loving it even more after a couple of days listening to it. Between this and the new cds from Eddie Vedder, John Fogerty and Radiohead, it sure has been a banner month for my music collection.Spooky wrote:Great, great call on the Plant/Krauss album.
