Having said that, I think it's a good thing that those who do have state-of-the-art screens can avail of them to the utmost, while those of us who don't can still play games that are, to a large extent, quite similar.
I'm with you, brother. No interest in a $500 console, especially when I'm still rocking a 2009 720p 50-inch Panasonic plasma TV.
I appreciate that MS isn't developing X exclusives -- not yet, at least. That prevents fragmentation of the Microsoft ecosystem, which is smart, especially for a company whose only big advantage in the marketplace is the continued reliability, functionality and strength of Xbox Live. Splintering XBL into X, One/S and 360 tiers would be stupid.
But I worry over time that some developers may get lazy optimizing upcoming games for the original XB1 or the XB1S, instead just relying on the big power of the X's processors to do the hard work.
That's when I could consider a jump to the X. I also need a 4K HDR TV. And I want to see a $100 price drop on the X.
So in other words, enjoy your new machines, fellas. I'll see you in about two years.
