I certainly don't see he appointment as anything to cheer about beyond the fact that Hodgson had to go and this is step one on the way to getting the club back on track. I don't think Dalglish is a long-term answer, but he should be able to get the squad back in line.

Newcastle losing, 2-0, to effing Stevenage with 10 minutes to go in FA Cup Third Round.

Steven Gerrard has amazing physical abilities and skill - now if only they could fit a brain to that body...

Villareal gave a very good account of themselves in the Nou Camp and they're 2-1 up after 20 mins in Madrid. Probably the only team capable of competing, at least in the direct clashes, with the big two in the Spanish league. Let's see if they can keep it up.
Re: The Beautiful Game Thread 10/11
Final score 3-1. I watched the match and it was an outright disgrace. I know Newcastle did not have their full starting lineup out there, but they did have a lot of regulars on the pitch. The simple fact is that Stevenage out-hustled Newcastle and wanted the win about 100 times more. Newcastle looked disinterested and going through the motions, which is a recipe for disaster in the FA Cup, especially against a team like Stevenage that has a history with Newcastle in the FA Cup. What really pisses me off is the way Pardew just dismissed the loss as a result of tired players. LMAO! What a f***in crock of a response! This is a fourth-division team that just kicked a Premier team's ass all over the pitch, and the best Pardew can do is muster up a shitcake of an excuse. His substitution of Tiote turned out to be harmful since Tiote got a red card and will miss a few matches, Sunderland included (albeit the call on Tiote was dreadful). WTF was Pardew thinking with that sub? The score was 2-0 and it's not like Tiote is going to make any difference in that situation. It's hard to be too critical coming off a Premier League win of 5-0 over bottom feeder West Ham, but I know for certain the players would not have put in such a half-assed effort with Hughton in charge. Yesterday's lackluster effort by the players and pathetic post-game comments by Pardew have me a bit worried about how good of a fit Pardew is at Newcastle.pk500 wrote:Newcastle losing, 2-0, to effing Stevenage with 10 minutes to go in FA Cup Third Round.

Re: The Beautiful Game Thread 10/11
Nice little backheel goal by Tevez only to be spoiled by a brutal J. Hart giveaway. The pitch was awful to play with but Leicester held it's own ground.
Re: The Beautiful Game Thread 10/11
I'd've given the Balon de Oro to Xavi, maybe because I love players who run the show from midfield and I've never seen anyone do it better (possible exception of Redondo in his prime) , but you can't argue with the choice of Messi. Maybe he'll also go down as the contender for best player of all time to date with the most acceptable ego..."it's just good to be here with my team mates". Class act for sure.
Re: The Beautiful Game Thread 10/11
Tough break for Gonzalo Higuain as the RM player will miss up to 4 months of action with his recent back surgery.
Re: The Beautiful Game Thread 10/11
C'Mon Blackpool!
I would suggest Liverpool buy Charlie Adam but I'm not sure why he'd want to step down to a lower club.
For Sale:
England Right Back
Can also play at Left Back but is equally crap there. Can't tackle. Can't man mark.

Skrtel made key errors on both goals as well. He's not up to league standard. And by league standard, I mean the quality of the rest of the league, not Liverpool, of course.
What a season.
What a season.

Maybe Dalglish could find somebody suitable from this lot.

Re: The Beautiful Game Thread 10/11
Whats the point of asking Lucas and Meireles to push forward more Kenny if neither of them can make a final pass, i guess you've figured out after that match though.
Poor Torres , i still dislike him a lot right now
but come on whats he supposed to do with that service.
So Kenny has seen about everyone now lets see what he comes up with.
Im guessing he doesnt rate Konchesky
But he defends a little better than Corn rows...FAIL!!!!
How come none of my mates called me to spoil that game i had on DVR, they made me sit thru it thinking Liverpool would come back. Bunch of wicked bastards.

Re: The Beautiful Game Thread 10/11
I assumed that Roy folded Koncesky up like a ventriloquist's dummy and carried him out of Melwood in a suitcase.
I've exhausted my ability to express in language the extent to which Lucas' passing frustrates me. How the hell do Liverpool end up with a Brazilian footballer who can't score, can't pass and is useless in set pieces?
I like the idea of playing Johnson on the left, if only because it doubles down on the one part of his game that isn't s***. He really needs to be moved to the wing though, with a stay-at-home LB who can actually play defense behind him.

Well now you can concentrate more on Meireles then, i guess i should check how his name is spelt if im going to rag on him every game.RobVarak wrote:

Re: The Beautiful Game Thread 10/11
So there's the Jets talking trash and then there's Cahill saying the Reds lack passion.
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story ... it?cc=5901
Cahill congrats on dooming your team to a loss. If they lack passion you don't spur them on before your game. For a team with no passion, which everyone can see, you don't fire them up before you play them.
2-1 Reds over the Blues all thanks to Cahill.

Re: The Beautiful Game Thread 10/11
I thought the debut of Dzeko with City looked promising. Paired with Tevez who scored two goals, he seemed to be involved more as a teammate than the always individualist Balotelli. With #10 around, Tevez played a couple of yards shorter than his usual position and looked even more dangerous. With D. Silva returning from injury, City looks very strong upfront and if it isn't for the mental errors of the inconsistent Hart and Y. Toure, they may just give United a good run for the title based on their performance last night against Wolves.

Tough draw for Newcastle in the Tyne-Wear derby against the Mackem bastards yesterday. Gyan was very fortunate to get the equalizer in extra time.

Why is Darren Bent going from a possible Euro qualifier to Villa in 17th?

Pienaar chooses Spurs.......nice player, but still can't believe they've signed yet another midfielder.
Modric
Pienaar
Bale
Lennon
Van der Vaart
Kranjcar
Jenas
Huddlestone
Palacios
Probably about 8 more I'm forgetting...who starts now?

Bentley's on loan, but probably won't come back. And I guess VdV is basically a forward now.
I don't get it though. Defense and goal are far more questionable.
Robbie Keane is officially gone though, so that's a positive.
